that's why johnny let mccartney do most of the singing probably after about 64 because his voice was shot and he got sick singing lead all the time I think he would still do an occasional song most of the great ones were john his harmonica playing was especially cool but he didn't do much of it was mostly the early songs that was one of my favorite talents of his
This live performance of The Beatles in their earlier days. Shows how polished and professional they where at this stage of their career. They were poised, well rehearsed, and playing with confidence. Although John vocals sounded kind of raspy and dry. The band collectively pulled it together and sounded great. Thanks for uploading this rare live Beatles performance. When you watch them during this time of their early music career. You can tell that they had something special and magical that would evolve and erupt to a musical mania!!!
the reason john's voice is raspy is because I Feel Fine is a very difficult song to sing. While it doesn't sound like it, John's lead vocals are sung rather high, right at the top of his vocal range without going into falsetto. Try singing it, its very tough. Personally I can sing well, but can only sing I Feel Fine if I tune half a step down
At 1:39, it's very quiet, but, if you listen really closely, you'll notice that one of them almost sings "she's in love with me" instead of "I'm in love with her". Based on their mouth shapes in the video, I think it was Paul. He ended up catching himself and self-correcting, but still nice to know that even the greatest rock band of all time slips up occasionally.
you can see how his shoulders tense slightly as he sings and he shares a smile with George at 1:42, so you're probably right about the mistake - not that it matters, they were still amazing performers :D
@@littlelou3732 You're absolutely right that the mistake, if it happened, doesn't matter at all. The way they just brush it off with such levity and keep on track is the very model of how to handle on-stage mistakes with professionalism and great stage presence.
@@fluffshepnetwork7067 I agree, thanks for your reply! Personally I think these little slip ups make performing (live) much more exciting because it reminds you (as a performer) to stay focused even if you've sung the same bit a hundred times already and of course its always nice to have a laugh on stage :)
George adds some new guitar parts on this version! Intro chords at the beginning and a very groovy supporting riff at 1:22 when he's usually silent in very other version I've heard.

I prefer the live version of this song because of the way they slightly pick up the tempo of the song when they sing the part of the song that begins with, "I'm so glad..."

John's bigger there, his voice is raspy. Looking and sounding good. Great live performance from the boys in their suits.
John had a few too many Woodbines that day! "Curse Sir Walter Raleigh, he was such a stupid get!"
@@newerafrican Funny.
That's his 'fat Elvis' period.
About as chubby as he ever was.

I'm grateful for having walked the earth when this was all unfolding. They've been my favourite band for almost 60 years, now.
An actual live performance with a civilized audience. I love it.
Hardly civilised theyre screaming like mad
@@adonaiyah2196 At the beginning and the end. Look up other performances from that time. The Beatles couldn't hear themselves play.
Hands down! The greatest and most influential rock and roll band ever!

I love the rasp in his voice in this video. It actually enhances the song for me.

John just casually strolling up to the mic while knocking out that difficult riff ....
George seems particularly relaxed and into this live performance.
i feel fine , thank you
Iove this song and the Beatles and have a nice day and take care and
May God bless you
Fabulous
Fantasticoooo!!!
John's voice was so amazing and distinctive. I adore it.
I enjoyed this clip very much. Thanks a lot!
How do they sound this great live in 1965, pure ear 🍬 candy.
I really miss you boys!
Awesome video, captures the true Beatles energy the way it was meant to be, and 10000x better than TV back then

John being an autentical beatle.
With all understanding for the bands in the 60', but these 4 guys from Liverpool invented a new time.
They were humans!!!! Take a look at 1:39, how Paul made a mistake starting the chorus line with a "she...." instead of "I'm".
George’s groove at 01:22, so cool.
incomparável

The Very Good Night (Tribute to the Beatles)
Followed you very secretly deep in the night
Till you got home and I lost you out of my sight
Creaked the door, twenty steps - and the light in the frame
All I have is to stand here and whisper your name
So I wish you the very good night
Till the dawn breaks and makes me all right
Wrong are they who consider that love is but pain
As this evening I hope I will see you again
Birds are sad when the smile disappear off your face
Distant look of your eyes is the top of the grace
I would bring you the sky and the stars and the moon
If you told me that you would be mine pretty soon
So I wish you the very good night
Till the dawn breaks and makes me all right
Wrong are they who consider that love is but pain
As this evening I hope I will see you again
