I was a bus driver on Go ahead London and then I moved to southeastern. During my God ahead London career, I drove bus routes 185, 108, 320 & 208.
I would love to have Anton as my driver

Thanks for letting us in on your favourite bus Anton, it's really interesting. You're right, it is strange and that lower deck looks a bit odd.
Stagecoach East Scotland and West Scotland double decks consist of Scania N-Series, Dennis Tridents ALX400, Volvo B5LHs, B7TL and B9TL (Wright Eclipse Geminis). They have also got new ADL E400 MMCs in the fleet however my favourite double deck of all time is the Volvo Olympian but more recently the Enviro Dennis Tridents.
My favourite bus is the VDL Berkhof Axial 100. I also like the Scania Irisar i6. (The tri axial models)

Hi Anton, never been on one, although I have seen them on the stand at Enfield Little Park Gardens on the Potters Bar Metroline 317 service to Waltham Cross.

This was my 2nd attempt at this video one month later!
My first video I filmed in May, I mentioned the route 13 bus company as 'metroline' many times throughout the video...and then only realised later that the route 13 is operated by Tower Transit..!! 😂🤣
This route I drive to Victoria maybe once a month or once every 2 months....so whenever I have an opportunity to film for 5-8 minutes...I have to do it there and then!
I don't plan ahead....I could do more research Into every video like I did with the electric buses and with the new routemaster/old routemaster videos and also with the autonomous buses video!

Raphael O if i could answer it, those buses you're talking about are probably 18-20 years old and no longer meet londons emission standards, therefore they have been replaced with newer, greener more efficient buses.

Have you seen, or even heard about, the Evora? They're the new single decker equivalent to the Evoseti although I dont think london will ever see these and they look odd with only the bottom half of the evoseti

Mirapid ...the Evoseti and Enviro MMC hybrid I drive the most...then the E bus...then the hybrid Wright Volvo!

Evoseti all the way from Egypt! Used to pick them up from Bristol and take the to MCV at Ely.

DoubleDeckerAnton yes anton, I was a trade plate driver, picked up Alexander Dennis from Falkirk delivered them all over the country including a lot to London, some from ADL at Scarborough too. Even delivered 4 optare solos to Arriva in Malta when they got the contract!

Great video Anton and I like the evosetis too. Metroline now have them on routes 30 and 274 so I guess they have changed their supplier from Wright to MCV. Wright Gemini 3s are a bit overrated so nice to have a change. My local bus route is the 191 which is operated by your company from Northumberland park garage.

You asked why one side was higher than the other, well that’s because of the hybrid-electric motors, it will always take up more space than a diesel and electric bus.

Hey anton, why is that where I am, personally using north London buses, the drivers never turn on ac, every bus I’ve been on in this heatwave, it’s always off except for that big thing on the ceiling above the stairs. Did Tfl tell drivers not to turn it on? Or is there is major shortage?

The reason why the seats r higher on the left hand side at the back is because it’s got a B5LH engine and they are very big and they are fully towards the left hand side of the bus that’s why there is a long over hang at the back of the bus. I saw one of these crash because the tale was too long.☺️ My most favourite buses in the world are the ALX 400 Tridents especially the euro 3 versions with a voith Gearbox that Stagecoach London have.☺️

B5LH is a chassis...not an engine.
Anton, the bus is hybrid, meaning diesel engine that can also power the electric battery, meaning that at low speeds, the bus will glide in electric mode. The WSDs your company ordered for route 44 are micro hybrids (also known as smart hybrids by Stagecoach or Low Voltage hybrids by Abellio) are mainly powered by the diesel engine and the lights and other small things are powered by the electric battery. This means that these buses are always running on the diesel engine, with electricity helping out in other places of the bus. However, the smart hybrids your company ordered for the 36, 77 and 87 have super capacitors instead of batteries, to store electric energy. This is more efficient and can make the bus glide in electric mode for a little longer than a standard battery hybrid and then finally change into diesel mode. These can be differentiated by the normal EHs in your company with the funny blue bits on the hubcaps of the wheels. The electric engine tends to be very quiet on hybrid buses and the diesel just sound likes a regular bus.
I think the seats on the left hand side of the bus are higher because maybe the engine or battery may be stored underneath there? I'm not too sure. But the reason why the MHV and WHV have half width windows at the back of he bus is due to the shape of the Volvo B5LH engine. It looks like a shower cubicle and is housed at the left hand side of the back of he bus. The EHs have different engines which fit right underneath the back seats window, which allows a full width window.
Personally, I don't really like Go- Ahead' s MHVs but Metroline VHMs are quite nice on the 30. Overall, I do like the Volvo Gemini B5LH and Enviro 400H and City more. Love the hissing accelerating B5LH:)
hi what's the ground clearance like when going over humps in the road ?
Rodney Fisher ....they seem similar to the other buses....but they 'rock' more than other buses because of the short wheelbase!
The rear seats are higher on the nearside because thats where the engine is mounted.. its placed longitudinal too.. hence the long rear overhang.
What time did you film this Anton? I did a full journey on the 13 today.

my favourite bus was a Leyland Atlantean 'G' reg from 1968, it had a semi auto gearbox, one of them is getting restored on Tyneside, it was operated by Newcastle Corporation Transport which later became Tyneside PTE and Tyne and Wear PTE, after that it became Newcastle Busways then Stagecoach took over.
I was at the same bus depot for 38 years, 37 of them driving.

Do you have a favourite single decker? The Volvo B10M Alexander PS is my favourite single decker, but haven't seen one in so long as they all got withdrawn from service by 2015. For double decker though, I do love the RouteMaster, and I also like the new Enviro 400 MMC - we have a lot of those in Birmingham

Hello Anton I love your content keep up the good work. In my opinion I like the East lancs Vyking bodied volvo B7TL I think it used to run the 93 route for GOahead London before Putney Bridge to North Cheam

i've never been on a bus with two doors? how do they work, can you get on and off at the back or? do you get on at the front and get off at the back???
haloharry97 for normal double decker buses the back door is exit only and the front door is predominantly used for entrance only. On the new routemaster which has three doors you can board and alight from any door.

haloharry97 ....the other 2 have answered correctly...2 door buses have an entrance and an exit door....I lower the front door for elderly and less able passengers when they want to alight the bus, because i can get closer to the kerbside!
Regarding the new routemaster that has 3 doors.....they can be boarded/alighted from any of the 3 doors!
TransportFlick Some buses that aren't routemasters have to oyster readers at the usual exit doors and you can enter from there

Finally get to ride on these buses as go ahead London has withdrawn 20 Evosetis and given them to go north west (go ahead Manchester). It's a really nice bus.

londonbusexplorer there are 3 PVL’s left in the gal fleet , pvl 293 285 and 435 . 293 and 285 are both ZF but 435 is voith I’m not sure if they are 3 left could be more but I have only seen those 3 from now on

I always thought the engine was vertical!
That explains the ridiculous rear overhang. I suspected that was the case. They probably don't want to mount the engine vertically because they don't want to repeat the same mistakes made on the Volvo B7L/B9L.
