It is necessary to understand how the inclinometer works. It only measures angles against some plane that needs to be zeroed as the base surface against the measured angle.

God, what are you doing? If you want to measure an angle, you need to zero the inclinometer on the base plane and then measure the angle against this plane. If you don't zero it, you can't measure the angle, because the zero value as a standard is somewhere completely different. In my carpentry practice, I have been measuring with this for many years. If you can use it, it's a good helper.
