So I picked up a box of Flames of War Soviet Heavy Assault Group Starter Force at Crackcon 3 at Boards & Swords in Derby. I was very impressed with the quality of them and rattled through making them up and painting them.

Thank you , Dom .
🐺
You are very welcome
BF make super kits! Fantastic unboxing as you actually made the contents not just talk about it. Awesome 😎
cheers Mark - just unboxing can be a little boring so i wanted to show the whole process for an average modeller and painter like me
Such a lovely looking army Dom, great job on these. The set looks really nice, I've painted a bit of FOW for work and I find the stuff really hit and miss, I think its probably the newer hard plastic that I like. I can see a 15mm WW2 project in my future, but a bit torn on where to go with the models, I look at these and like them, then get lost on the Flames of War website, can't find what I want or find out its old sculpts and give up. Plastic Soldier company look decent, but means many theatres aren't possible, and I really liked the look of the Victoria 12mm, but again even more limited and a scale that's harder to fill gaps (assuming that's why you're moving to 15mm)? Totally can't make my mind up on Battlegroup, O group or give FOW another look either 🤣
definitely the harder sets are best, I dont much like the soft resin types either. Battlegroup is a great set too but loving O Group at the moment. I decided yes that the Victrix 12mm were lovely but for variety 15mm was better plus more at the club have 15mm armies so that means i will have opponents easy enough
Excellent looking army Dom. I've had my eye on this box for rapid fire.
i really can recommend them Paul
Great video, Battlefront have really good build guides for each of their models including the infantry on their website. I am mostly a Flames of War player but thinking of giving O Group a go as seems more suitable for solo gaming.
definitely recommend it Aled
Amazing work as always, Dom. I am thinking about picking up this exact box for a possible Bagration event at Adepticon next Spring.
That's a great idea!
Cracking deal. I picked a few boxes up myself
I saw!
Yay for 15mm O Group!
Great to see your bargain being put to good use Dom, and a hour long Unboxing and paint is amazing, the full journey from box to table! I could say you have inspired me to do the same with the Brits I picked up but there already half painted.
Say what you like about flames of war but Battlefront have really nailed their plastic kits, a joy to assemble and great quality and I'd say even at the £60 you can find these for they are still amazing value, yours at half price was a steal, certainly own Ian a pint at CC3 for that deal.
Really enjoyed the vid Dom. Outstanding army.
cheers Paul
Nice looking kits. I like fow.
cheers - I know fow is very popular
Good video and handy tips 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Very nice set
It really is!
Cracking video. Whose tufts did you use on the bases
cheers mate - they are just cheap ones from serious play I think - just make sure they are fairly small
I was thinking, if you take away the soundtrack this could be me building these models ....lol
not sure if I feel honoured or insulted! :)
Or..... you can magnetise the turrets ....
yeah thought about that afterwards!
