Omgah!! I LOVE THE BOOTHOUSE! my brother has kept all his old hiking and work boots. He said he didn't know why...like 20 pair I'm going to get them and make these. We are having unusually harsh winter this year. Thank you so much! You are the greatest! From South Carolina, USA
You will be aware that nestlings need something to help them from the base of the nest to the entrance : e.g. deep grooves in the wood. They will find it very difficult to climb up the inside of a metal saucepan. Perhaps a mesh fitted to the inside of the saucepan would fit the bill. It needs to be in a shaded area or the saucepan will become an oven. The overall design is very clever. This is not a criticism but, hopefully, a constructive suggestion.
Super ideas and awesome birdhouses. But one important detail is that the inner side with the hole must be rough or with shallow notches applied. Otherwise, chicks, as a rule, cannot cling to the smooth surface and get out of the hole. Accordingly, they remain inside and die. Tested in practice. On the metal inside, you can stick wooden sticks for clawing. Kind regards.
A great piece of work, but I feel that the corrugated roof detracts from the first nest. A piece of green waterproof felt would have looked much nicer.
Very creative , but it will be too hot inside because you must have ventilation holes . And black colour is too hot too . Besides that , that’s great ! Congratulations!
Love the boot house! Unfortunately, since there is no (easy) way to remove the old nest and clean out the boot, birds will only nest one season in it. Just like you wouldn't live in a house with someone else's s h*t in it, neither will birds. It looks good though!

Thanks for the feedback, really good to know.
I use a fine wire mesh on the inside to enable the youngsters climb out. In larger bird homes use a larger wire mesh.
A bird house called CAT! LOL.... Brilliant idea, brilliantly put together.. Well done
I love your sketches!!
These are DOPE - subscribing. So Creative
Love your creativity on these birdhouses. Inspiring.
How does this only have 87 views?! Your video is well done, and your ideas are super creative!
Thank you very much for your kind comments. Couldn't agree with you more 😆. Please feel free to share.
Wow...love this! And you did it so fast!
Thanks, really need to get some more made soon
Those are some pretty interesting idea. I did something out of reclaimed pickets, but no where near like that.
Thanks, aim to make some more very soon
Absolutely first class ! Excellent demo of attractive well made bird houses.
Many thanks!
Very artistic
Awesome stuff FairPlay 👌
Thanks, hoping to get some new ideas sort soon.
I wonder if the wind will blow the shoe tounge over the opening. Why not tie the laces on both sides of the toungue to prevent this?

Hello from TEXAS USA 🤠
Great ideas and I just wonder about the pot having enough for the bird to get into the hole with out cutting it self of the metal edge?
I think they're wonderful!
Thanks, a really fun upcycling project.
Thanks for this! Love the shoe one.
Thanks for watching!
their nice, but how do you clean them out without taking them back apart?
They look cool. How do you clean them out?
Just unscrew or unfasten the laces
Very Creative Ideas! Thanks For Sharing
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Great ideas Ritch&SJ, love the boot house the best and I like your video it moves along at a good pace 👍 👍
Thanks, really loved doing them, especially the yakisugi. Although a bit dusty, think some dust extraction maybe in order.
It is fun experimenting with wood and a blowlamp, I have a vacuum cleaner and a home made cyclone in my garage 👍
Have the vacuum and cyclone in place already, just waiting for the others bits to get sorted over the next few weeks.
and where did you get that sketch book/book cover???
Good stuff m8 not sure if cat boots best for birdys lol maybe dewalt
LOL
Very creative!
Thank you! 😊 glad you liked them
Cool!
Im curious if birds would actually nest in the shoe.
very creative! but i cringe when you cut hole in pan, cuz now hole saw gonzo...
It was a bi-metal hole saw, and I have a spare 🙄
Very creative , but it will be too hot inside because you must have ventilation holes . And black colour is too hot too . Besides that , that’s great ! Congratulations!
Thanks for the info, will sort that
Did you sand the inner rim of the hole in the pot too? Don’t forget bird needs to get out too.
We did sand it, to get rid of any sharp edges, but the inside is well worn, so should be enough grip.
Remember that the birds need to be able to get up to the exit hole, or they will be trapped. Don't assume that they can fly or jump up to the hole.
That's good point
Still great idea can't wait to start building with my dad
Nice. No music would be even better.
what is the size opening in a bird house for wrens?
I believe it's around 28mm DIA.
I love making things from sc4ap
we know how you feel, there is nothing better than taking something that, others would throw away and then turning it into something else.
SORRY MUSIC TOOO LOUD and bird don't like burnt wood ...

The insert in the top of the boot does come out, so we can clean the boot out. But thanks for the comment and advice.
Try making one without all your fancy tools.
Didn't really think I had that many fancy tools.

God awful music..
