You realy aught to listen about the back I'm 58 and had to retire after 40 yrs with back problems I can barely walk now the nerves to my legs are pinched,so take care of your back
Thanks, been driving a truck since march 2016 so i try to be gentle on the transmission, ill have to do an other one soon, i installed some goodies on the interior
What’s up string bean? You and me got one thing in common and that’s that we both drive w900s and for that alone, i respect you.. Yours looks a little too new for my liking i learned to drive and still drive to this day the same 2008 w900 and i hate when i have to drive something different for the day, it really is an all around amazing truck that once you have the feel for, rides better than a cadillac in my opinion!
My son has that shirt but in a coat form lol!! I drive a 900l with a 550 Cummings isx and a 18 speed!! They sure are fast shifting buggers aren't they lol!! I love it!!!
haha that's for sure, but i always drove cummins engines so i dont know any better, plus with the 12inch extension it allows me to go a little slower with the shifts :) Thanks for watching!
I see it's a fairly new truck. It has the new Kenworth interior, same as in the new T800. Do you drive a glider kit? Or is this just a new factory W900?
Eaton fuller transmissions are not syncronised, you dont need the clutch to shift as long as you keep your RPMs at the right spot. It's called Floating gears :)
New trucks do have that still, the truck is not that old(2012), the only trucks that you cant float are the european ones, they have a transmission like a car with syncromesh
I wish I could spend some time in one of these to get a feel for how they drive. I drive a mid roof cascadia, and I noticed particularly that your teeth are not being shaken out of your head. I might go so far as to say it drives smoothly. I think it would be neat to drive a truck like that, but mine turns sharper and gets better MPG.
shatteredsquare I drove a t660 same cab as a w900 they're up higher that a freightliner. they ride alot smoother. truck have zero turning radius along with a Pete. overall kW handles the road good and are smooth. just the heaviest trucks out there
normally when im in a truck with a cummins signature/isx engine i expect to hear the variable vane turbo but i can't hear anything of that sort lol, still a nice truck nonetheless
Fernando gonzalez its easy but much better for trany what you do using clutch. Going up hill i use double clutch and yes i use them.like that for 13 years so far
Is it no damage for gearbox, when he do that? I mean, if you will do that on car with manual transmission, you risk break something. Moreover, it is difficult to do that on a simple car.
Cars and Light Truck transmissions are very different from the transmissions in big trucks. The biggest difference is, truck transmissions don't have synchronizer rings, and they use a different type of gear teeth. This allows you to "float" the drivetrain and slip the transmission in and out of gear without the clutch. However, you can do a lot of damage to the transmission/driveline if you do it wrong. Basically, when it's time to shift, you lift off the fuel pedal, and as the weight of the truck/trailer moving forward, unloads the driveline as the engine rpms fall (going from accelerating to decelerating) you have a small window of time, where you can shift gears without the clutch (because there is no acceleration or deceleration load on the driverline, its "floating") You need to be extremely smooth, and quick, as its very easy to get caught outside of this "float" window, in which case you need to either add RPM to match the speed of the driveline, or use the clutch. The best advice I can give, is practice with a light load or empty trailer, never force the transmission into gear, cover the clutch pedal even when floating, until you really get used to it. Smoothness is the key, the speed will come with practice. Hope that helps!
That damn mic for the CB radio that's swinging is making it hard to actually watch the video cause It catches my eye which then it makes me focus on that the whole damn time instead of him shifting!!! Did the same thing happen to any of you?? If so leave a like on this comment!!
could you make another video where you're driving but instead of not using the clutch when you shift could you instead use the clutch every time you shift I would for once just would like to see that kind of driving.....hope you can make it
@@RubberDuckTrucking I’d be lying to you if i said i watch your junk, and that’s no way to start off a friendship like we’ve begun to build… Maybe we can meet at the local Truck stop and grab ourselves a cup of coffee, a travel mug, and perhaps get a little argument started up from scratch on the CB radio.. Not for nothing , but It seems to be more about tattoos , colorful shirts, and cowboy hats... I like the w900L
how do you like the 2012?
How long have you been driving
Bro you should do a floating gears video. your smooth with it.
Do you have cruise control on those big trucks?
Yes
That a big 10-4 rubber duck
He's doing a good job,I hate those little steering wheels
Who do you work for?
Gotta love that hat
nice truck interior los asurenh
Well that was exciting, now my back hurts
hahah :D
jva venir porter mon cv au mois de mai je commence le cftr dans 1 mois jai tlm hate lala!!

I see it's a fairly new truck. It has the new Kenworth interior, same as in the new T800. Do you drive a glider kit? Or is this just a new factory W900?
NVM, just read a comment that you posted under someone else's. If you have a particulate filter and run def, it's just a factory truck.
yeah, its also my previous truck, i now drive a 2006 with no DEF and a studio sleeper, sounds a lot better :) Thanks for watching
what's the RPM you need to use for shifting without the clutch?
1850
I quit my job to get cdl.hope I get a w900 or 379 p
Relax, sit back, its not that complicated...
had the seat layed back to make room for that hat !!
He is changing gears without pressing clutch every shift ?
Yes, it's called floating gears. It can be done with any non-synchronised transmission without any harm.
thats some smooth floatin there cuz....roll on
Oh shit, I didn't know Shia Labeouf was a truck driver. o_0
wait i dont get it. dont you have to press in the clutch to shift gears?
Eaton fuller transmissions are not syncronised, you dont need the clutch to shift as long as you keep your RPMs at the right spot. It's called Floating gears :)
RubberDuck that's so bad ass!!! I take it newer trucks don't have that kind of transmission ? Fuck I wish I had a truck like that!
New trucks do have that still, the truck is not that old(2012), the only trucks that you cant float are the european ones, they have a transmission like a car with syncromesh
Even in consumer cars with manual transmissions you can shift without the clutch although it is easy to damage them in cars if not done right.
Super trucker
lol k.
Nah the gear shift doesn't go to the ceiling and he doesn't use the jake constantly
Does not your back hurt with that driving posture?
It doesnt but that's a problem i try to correct because in the long run it probably will
floater's nice my man is it 18 ?
yep 18spd with a cummins isx 600 engine

DPF and DEF mutes everything, its sad :(
damn, that sucks

Fernando gonzalez its easy but much better for trany what you do using clutch. Going up hill i use double clutch and yes i use them.like that for 13 years so far
Is it normal to change speed without clutch pedal? (Sorry, i am not truck driver)
I mean shifting
Yes, its called "floating" the gears.

Most of the time you just float gear in big rigs
don't lug the motor so much . seems you shift way low and looks to be a bit fast .
i shift it at 1500rpm, going higher would be useless
