I just so happen to have them on CD-ROM from back in the day :) Tomb Raider I + The Unfinished Business Expansion Tomb Raider II + The Gold Mask Expansion Tomb Raider III + The Lost Artifact Expansion

Nothing will ever top the exploration element these classics delivered. Nothing. There was always something to discover in each level with no help whatsoever. Pure adventure, and I'm going to have a blast playing these masterpieces again.

As a fan of the original games, I am beyond excited to see Lara Croft back in action with enhanced graphics and updated gameplay. The nostalgia is hitting me hard, but with the remastered versions, it feels like a whole new adventure
I don't think there is updated gameplay and there is no need for that. If you change the gameplay you have to change the level design and therefor do a complete remake of the game.
The icing on the cake is that the expansion packs are also included. So eager to play Unfinished Business, Golden Mask and Lost Artifact again after so many years. Haven’t been this excited for a games release in years.
I would be really happy if they actually brought to us a new tomb raider game with the "spirit" of the old games....I dont really like the new TR games...they are too violent and quick paced for my taste
the 90s definitely making its U-Turn alot these past few years, and its working. i was enjoying plenty of medievil ps1 remastered as well as crash bandicoot and such, so i sure this one will go well with the nostalgic fans and pure tr fans.
One of my favorite memories was playing one of them (I don't remember which game) at my friend's house. I ran uphill in a tunnel and pulled a lever and turned around to go back down when suddenly intense music played and a huge boulder came rolling down hill from behind. Both me and my friend screamed in fear!
I remember watching my dad introduce me to tomb raider, i was 5 years old, the year was 1996 and it was then that my love for video games was born 2 years later and the love of my life release called metal gear solid ❤ Such fond memories, i cant wait to play through both MGS and TR remasters again with my dad almost 30 years later 😊
I can appreciate how, because it's based on the brilliant modding work throughout the years, the presentation they're going for is capturing as close to how we remember the games looking at the time of original release with our nostalgia goggles. Balancing nostalgia with practical aesthetics.

Even the private solo designers did the better job doing remakes years ago like Tomb Raider: The Dagger Of Xian (Demo) | Fan Game - Remake by Nicobass for example. You could try harder, this still looks 1990 it's like calling something remaster that is not remastered at all, those textures were downloaded from gog games so I can say that I have already played this 10 years ago and you are trying to make the official release now by ripping someone else's work? Very poor low move, please boycot this, they could at least upgrade surrounding textures if they didn't want to change Lara. Crystal Dynamics wants to make money with 0 effort copying gog games remastered textures and selling it. It's not even Unreal Engine. This remaster is available on gog games for 10 years now. @@Mopster8 I don't care. On Steam these games are unplayable on windows 11. You need to install multiple 3rd party patches and files in order for the game to open and not crash, and then you need to install other patches to fix framerate and resolution and all of that. I speak for 100% of Steam players when I say this is extremely necessary

I'm glad they used Classic Lara. Never been a fan of realistic Lara from the SE games. I wished we could have new games with Classic Design and controlls. They might have been stiff, but I liked them more than everything since Legend.
Why not Angel of darkness too? Imagine if they remade it and fixed it, it would be redeemed. They could make the city better and fix framerate in areas!
Now this is a remaster. Grab a game, have it play the exact same but just give it the look that your rose tinted nostalgia glasses trick you into thinking the old games looked like
That's how the Demon's Souls remaster was, cept they went waaaay above and beyond for the graphical update. Game still has all the jank from the og one, literally just gave it a new coat of paint and shipped it.
Finally we have the real Lara Croft back! They kept the DPAD controls, the grid based levels, the soundtrack, everything that made the classics intuitive and special and not watered down, I can't believe this is actually happening, never did I ever expect this 😍

I love how we all agree that we want 4 and 5 remasters, but AOD remake hahaha! I love AOD for what it could have been, it has the potential to be one of the best TR games, but in its current state it's the worst. I would love a modern take! And, if we can dream a little, we could have it with the original script that was intended, but then so many things got cut.
How many people here remember when this came out on the PS1/pc I'm showing my age here. Childhood memories. I played the living daylights out of the ps1 tomb raider games. Then I grew up and tomb raider anniversary came out and I played the living daylights out of that too. They simply don't make games like they used to. I'm looking forward to receiving my childhood all over again. As much as I love modern games, this trip back in time is going to be awesome, i can't wait. Enjoy the experience everyone. I still can't believe it's been 30 years.. I'm getting old. PS for those who haven't played these games please do you won't be disappointed, I guarantee it.
Super stoked that the classic games are actually getting some love. Also it's very interesting to see that this is rated M, as pretty much every tomb raider up until the 2013 reboot was rated T. I'm guessing its just cause standards for ratings have probably changed since the 90s, or the fact that the animated blood and violent death animations are gonna be presented in full 4k. Hopefully it also means nothing gets censored or changed for dumb reasons
The darkness of the background in large areas caused by the game only rendering a certain amount of the areas made it so scary and added so much tension. You’d just hear a gorilla scream or a dinosaur marching in the distance getting louder and louder then suddenly out of the darkness they appear! Kind of wish they would keep it like that😢
They wrote that "they can only say about current projects but they know that fanbase wants all classic games to be re-made", so they 99.9% will remake TR4 in my opinion

Back when Lara had a fun and adventurous personality and wasn't frowny and miserable. Hope The Last Revelation and Chronicles get remastered as well. And maybe Angel of Darkness, just so any of its technical faults can get fixed.
Same, I hope the other games will also get some treatment. The Last Revelation is my absolute favourite from the classics. And Angel of Darkness always had potential.
Would be pretty cool if there was a way to toggle between tank controls and 4-directional modern movement, although they'd have to rework the side and back movements.
@@feder28 The issue with that is that all of the level design is based on a kind of grid system and the level design is all precisely tuned to the distance of each of Lara's particular jumps, including her sideways and backwards movements. Once you have a feel for the controls, it's easy to glance at the level design and tell at a glance which jump or combination of jumps will get you through certain obstacles. "Modern movement" doesn't really translate to this grid-based system at all, which is probably why the Legends trilogy didn't use it in their level designs. Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness had analog-based, camera-relative controls on PS2, but if anything, trying to force classic Tomb Raider movement into analog felt even heavier and clunkier than it does when tank-controlled.
2024 can be a big year for Tomb Raider. It would be great.. February Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, over the summer months Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered and the end of 2024 Legend, Anniversary and Underworld trilogy for PS4 and PS5. Underworld is 16 years old, it's time for the DLC "Lara's Shadow" and "Under the Ashes" to arrive on PS4 and PS5.
Great to see the games remastered without going too far from the original but these certainly need to be put straight in the PS Plus Premium Classic collection to justify the price increase recently🤔
I wonder how the controls will be like. The old games were great but the tank controls are certainly outdated. *nevermind, apparently Aspyr said that you can toggle between the old tank controls and the TR Anniversary type.
Out of all the tomb raider games I played. Tomb Raider 2 is my all time favourite TR game and one of my favourite moments in the history of Tomb Raider is locking the butler in the freezer lol. That never gets old. Old but Gold. I have the tomb raider trilogy on my PS3 but really cant wait for it to come onto the PS5. I'm mega excited. Roll on 14th February 2024.

Doubt it will feel different at all. They have only remastered the character and brightened the scenerey colours. It is still the same games.

This is just ridiculous attempt to rip off old Tomb Raider fans. Even the private solo designers did the better job doing remakes years ago like Tomb Raider: The Dagger Of Xian (Demo) | Fan Game - Remake by Nicobass for example. You could try harder, this still looks 1990 it's like calling something remaster that is not remastered at all, those textures were downloaded from gog games so I can say that I have already played this 10 years ago and you are trying to make the official release now by ripping someone else's work? Very poor low move, please boycot this, they could at least upgrade surrounding textures if they didn't want to change Lara. Crystal Dynamics wants to make money with 0 effort copying gog games remastered textures and selling it. It's not even Unreal Engine. This remaster is available on gog games for 10 years now. Even the trailer was copied from Gog games lol
@@Mopster8 I don't care. On Steam these games are unplayable on windows 11. You need to install multiple 3rd party patches and files in order for the game to open and not crash, and then you need to install other patches to fix framerate and resolution and all of that. I speak for 100% of Steam players when I say this is extremely necessary

I love how we all agree that we want 4 and 5 remasters, but AOD remake hahaha! I love AOD for what it could have been, it has the potential to be one of the best TR games, but in its current state it's the worst. I would love a modern take! And, if we can dream a little, we could have it with the original script that was intended, but then so many things got cut.

How many people here remember when this came out on the PS1/pc I'm showing my age here. Childhood memories. I played the living daylights out of the ps1 tomb raider games. Then I grew up and tomb raider anniversary came out and I played the living daylights out of that too. They simply don't make games like they used to. I'm looking forward to receiving my childhood all over again. As much as I love modern games, this trip back in time is going to be awesome, i can't wait. Enjoy the experience everyone. I still can't believe it's been 30 years.. I'm getting old.

Super stoked that the classic games are actually getting some love. Also it's very interesting to see that this is rated M, as pretty much every tomb raider up until the 2013 reboot was rated T. I'm guessing its just cause standards for ratings have probably changed since the 90s, or the fact that the animated blood and violent death animations are gonna be presented in full 4k. Hopefully it also means nothing gets censored or changed for dumb reasons

The darkness of the background in large areas caused by the game only rendering a certain amount of the areas made it so scary and added so much tension. You’d just hear a gorilla scream or a dinosaur marching in the distance getting louder and louder then suddenly out of the darkness they appear! Kind of wish they would keep it like that😢

I used to think Lost Valley was in a cave before I realised that they simply didn't render the sky. Made the game so claustrophobic and spooky.

This is beyond hype! I just played all these games recently. They hold up if you can get a handle on the tank controls
Would be pretty cool if there was a way to toggle between tank controls and 4-directional modern movement, although they'd have to rework the side and back movements.
@@feder28 The issue with that is that all of the level design is based on a kind of grid system and the level design is all precisely tuned to the distance of each of Lara's particular jumps, including her sideways and backwards movements. Once you have a feel for the controls, it's easy to glance at the level design and tell at a glance which jump or combination of jumps will get you through certain obstacles. "Modern movement" doesn't really translate to this grid-based system at all, which is probably why the Legends trilogy didn't use it in their level designs.
Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness had analog-based, camera-relative controls on PS2, but if anything, trying to force classic Tomb Raider movement into analog felt even heavier and clunkier than it does when tank-controlled.

Out of all the tomb raider games I played. Tomb Raider 2 is my all time favourite TR game and one of my favourite moments in the history of Tomb Raider is locking the butler in the freezer lol. That never gets old. Old but Gold. I have the tomb raider trilogy on my PS3 but really cant wait for it to come onto the PS5. I'm mega excited.
