this is the best tutorial on that topic. I'm struggling a lot with singing, i don't have a vocal coach but a good ear. however, many times flex pitch tells me strange things. Your singer has a great voice, to see that even she isn't with all the notes on the grid and a little sharp or flat here tells me that is normal and okay. Being a studio singer or singer songwriter are 2 completely different things... thank you!
Nice explanation, but 2 things are missing: 1. artefacts mostly occur when you're using flex pitch on one note but not on the following note! So you have to use it on all all notes following each other. 2. Aligning vocals: With flex monophon activated you can select a flex marker on one track and align it to another track by moving your mouse (click and hold) on the flex marker of the other track (your reference track, for example.) It then snaps to the other flex marker.
I never noticed it was only the vowels that could be changed. Great tips on deleting "scoops" and how to use flex time and pitch together. I find logic's interface more intuitive than melodyne when I tried it, but I can't get flex to sound quite this good. I appreciate the tutorials!
Great video! I've been using Logic for many years and I love the flex pitch feature! I learned a lot of things that I never knew in this video! thanks! :)
Personally...and of course it's only my opinion ....but I though the scratch vocals you did for this song were great! Maybe she just needs rehearsal to be more familiar with the attitude of the song.....but she doesn't have it yet! I think if you had more confidence in your singing voice and just went for it...you would kill it! I'm not criticizing the vocalist! I know it's nearly impossible to record a song you just learned.
Yes but sometimes you don’t have the opportunity to redo vocals, or maybe the singer really isn’t capable of doing better and in these situations it’s good to know how to edit
Thanks for the video! I watched because I can’t figure out how to add a flex pitch not handle where flex pitch didn’t detect a note. Nobody seems to include it in their tutorial. Best wishes - Tim
I've used wave real time tun in conjunction with this just to fine tune the waves tune and its alot cheaper than the others. Though I still do plan on purchasing autotune pro soon
This is one of those tasks on logic pro that is stressful and can't really be done alone especially for the first time. I had to get more than one person to help me with this every time. Flex Pitch is a team based skill andIt really requires teamwork to do it. Once you gotten the first part. Calm down, take a deep breath, work on the next part together.
Vocal tuning is definitely a tough skill to learn. Keep doing it and you'll eventually get proficient with it. Nowadays I can tune up a lead vocal for a song in about 30 mins to an hour.
Hey MTHG, I applied the flex pitch to one of my vocals and it always changes the octave on some notes in random areas...what do you think I am doing wrong?
It seems I can only edit flex pitch on the individual takes and not the composite itself, or, am I doing something wrong? It seems I have to render the comp and then I can flex edit all on one track instead of jumping around multiple takes. Is that how u do it? Thanks, great videos!
Ok this one was a bit more difficult to digest. I have no idea about music theory or vocals, other than "they sound good" and "they sound bad", so this was quite over my head... haha. But still very interesting nonetheless.
I don't, unfortunately. Flex Pitch simply doesn't function as well as Melodyne or Autotune Pro. I've found that with bright female vocals, the artifacts are less common, and with male/deeper vocalists, they are more prevalent. I find that Flex Pitch is perfectly fine when you working with a vocal take that's really good and mostly in tune, and you use it for minor pitch adjustments. But with more drastic pitch adjustments, it doesn't seem to handle it well. I demonstrate Flex Pitch on my channel, because I assume most people watching don't want to purchase Melodyne Studio for $600; however, Melodyne is my go-to for vocal tuning. I really wish Apple would invest some time in improving Flex Pitch to avoid these artifacts.
Yeah those glitchy pops were killing me inside, but as usual with reverb, delay and instrumental playing, it's not noticeable. FlexPitch isn't the best just yet but super convenient to have available when you don't have Autotune or Melodyne installed.
Hi! great series of videos, I love them! just one question, #MusicTechHelpGuy ! what's the difference between this and using Melodyne? thanks in advance!
I worry that when you get to[ into this] you get the Ferris Bueller's day off teacher effect, he's funny because he never changes his delivery "Bueller? Bueller? Beuller?
Listen to Halsey without me video and then listen to her in the live lounge this song is about hurt feeling and betrayal and in the live lounge you can really FEEL IT! WHY would you tune that?
You know what, I think I know what it is! I probably have a region within a loop (cycle range). So when I press spacebar, the playhead jumps straight to the beginning of the loop. You can do this by selecting a region or regions, and press Command U. This will put the cycle range right around the regions you've selected. I use this a lot for navigation in my projects.

Thank you for putting so much of efforts in helping beginners to learn Basic techniques of music production.
Love each of your videos ❤️
I watched this video and now I feel confident using flex pitch to tune vocals. Great tutorial man
By far the best, concise pitch tutorial in RUclips, as well as tge rest of your material. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!!

Excellent tutorial, the best I've seen on this, thank you!

I agree! I like your voice too man!

This video is a great help to me! Thanks a lot!
That was really concise and good
Awesome help man. Thank you! Now...I'm inclined to make a purchase form you for certain!
This is good stuff right here
How do you do that? For me the moment I adjust more that a micro bit of a parameter I get pops and clicks and the track basically gets unusable

YOU ARE GOOOOOOD!
first class man! Thanks!
how did you add Track Editor to that docked window? Mine is pop up only.
Whenever I’ve used flex pitch, there are pops introduced into the audio as artifacts. How have you avoided this?
I don't, unfortunately. Flex Pitch simply doesn't function as well as Melodyne or Autotune Pro. @@MusicTechHelpGuy Do I have the same artifact pops problem if I use Pitch Corrector plugin in Logic? Is it Pitch Corrector better than Flex Pitch?
Yeah those glitchy pops were killing me inside, but as usual with reverb, delay and instrumental playing, it's not noticeable. FlexPitch isn't the best just yet but super convenient to have available when you don't have Autotune or Melodyne installed.
Hi! great series of videos, I love them! just one question, #MusicTechHelpGuy ! what's the difference between this and using Melodyne? thanks in advance!
german mairen melodyne cost money flex come preset with logic and personal preference I think flex piTch looks more appealing
I worry that when you get to[ into this] you get the Ferris Bueller's day off teacher effect, he's funny because he never changes his delivery "Bueller? Bueller? Beuller?
Thank you. Very helpful video :)
So so useful
Can i flatten en merge reverse after use it? en back to comp swiping?
Listen to Halsey without me video and then listen to her in the live lounge this song is about hurt feeling and betrayal and in the live lounge you can really FEEL IT! WHY would you tune that?
because there’s a difference between stehe studio version and the live version
how do you select all?
command a
HOW ARE YOU STOPPING PLAYHEAD SO QUICK? THIS AWAYS TRIPS ME UP,
Stopping the playhead? I usually just press spacebar to stop the playhead. Unless you're talking about something else?

hey i need help. my logic pro x keeps crashing every time i try to use flex pitch please help me idk why?
your specs?
Flex Pitch is so bad. It causes artifacts and noises, even if used very gently.
