The updated version included the Master Game Stealing Chart in addition to other charts which makes it easier because everything is in the PM Boards File....Print it out and you're ready to go. You are free (obviously) to use some or none of the MG ratings......Dom Provisiero
Actually, I just looked at the game manual. Actually, it is the speed rating of the runner subtracted from the Arm rating of the fielder. Let say, the base runner is a 15 and the Arm rating is 33. Subtract 13 from 33 = 18. Then, you subtract 18 from the hit value, let's say 53. That gives you a number of 35. Meaning, he will probably score on the play...
As others have mentioned, HB0 is given to pitchers who never hit a batter during the season. So they don't hit the batter in APBA. All other pitchers who don't have the rating - they DO hit the batter.
I’m in this league with Paul Marino. I use these boards for EVERYTHING. Games in the OZ League and for replays and free play. They are a terrific hybrid. Who sent the boards to you?
I’m new to APBA. Been a Strat player since 73. Ordered 1986 & 2017. Want to play the basic game first but would like to eventually include this add on. Where can I get the Paul Marino boards?
Hey Earle, thanks for all the info you post on so many board games. You had a questionable decision on Roger Clemens' Hit batter rating. So I checked the BlueJays team actual stats under 1998 Bluejays stats baseball reference (which you can use to check out other teams/players real stats) and there I found that Roger Clemens hit 7 batters that year, so his HB should not be zero for the 1998 season. He also threw 6 wild pitches but committed no balks. There, Clemens should be BK0
Easier to see pitch on opposite handedness, right? Harder for a left-handed hitter to hit a left-handed pitcher, in general. Normally, would add for same handedness?
A couple of quick questions. First, do these boards make APBA a "better" experience over the basic game? Second, how much more time does it take to play a "Merino board" game over a basic game? Thank you.
Are you sure you're doing this right? Griffey over his career vs. RHP was 291/.382/.554. Vs. LHP he was .269/.341/.503 The way you're interpreting the numbers would seem to have it the other way around.
Earle, clarification for me if you don't mind. I know when a pitcher's adjusted number turns say an 8 to a 30 it becomes a fly to left. I had also been playing it that if the pitcher has an X that it's not only changed from a single to a fly out but to a strike out. Then I thought I saw a comment somewhere that said the x pitcher would only get the strike out if the 30 was the original result, not an adjusted result by the Marino boards. Is this correct or do you give the pitcher the strike out in all cases?
@@TabletopBaseballPlus there are pitchers who do almost no balks who are BK0 and then everyone else who do ball. And same with hit by pitch. Sort how it used to be with strikeouts where there were extra strikeout guys and with various grades (X etc) and then everyone else. That is until they added that R rating.
@@TabletopBaseballPlus pitchers with no rating, the result always remains a HBP. The only pitchers who have a rating are rated HB0, and that means the result is never a HBP for them.

Thanks Earle. This was extremely helpful. Now I can practice with the '41 set.
Thanks Earle for posting this video. I keep thinking I need to print out my Marino boards and give it a try

Great tutorial Earle, I don't have APBA but these charts make it appealing.

Where did you find the APBA Master Game all-in-one chart? Do you have a copy of it? Thanks.

Earle, where can you pick up some of these Marino boards?
When does the red writing on an outcome come into play
Thanks for the video! Where can I download the boards and the stealing chart?

Yes they do! I dont think they really expand the game very much, maybe a couple of minutes.

where does one get copies of these Paul Marino boards?
Thanks Bro
The boards I downloaded have result 11 with a green 'SB'..
I'm guessing I roll on the steal table or just use the basic result of a stolen base?
I would roll on the steal table. I Also roll on the steal table if a guy has a 14*

No strikeout if it comes of the pitching change table, just a fly out.
if there is no HP rating it means he is not an HP0. same for BK rating.
Ok then what is he?

Griffeys stats were much better against righties. You are wrong.. the minus 2 means you subtract from the pitcher.
In that season Griff hit 20 points lower against righties - .279 vs .299 so the number is correct.
Earle...Where did you get the 1 page of charts. I have looked online and I cannot find it. Any help will be appreciated.
Gene Smith I can’t remember where I got it, but I can email a picture of it to you if you’d like.
