Nasa created these clouds so scientists can see what's happening in earths atmosphere.

I saw them on the same night in the south of the netherlands. It was spectacular! The 21st of june is actualy my birthday. And because its also the summer solstice, i always go for a nightly walk. This walk was verry special because of those clouds. Im still full of wonder.

While observing Jupiter, Saturn and Mars this month I happened to notice these large bands higher n than planes would fly. They appear to be fast moving wave bands. At first I thought I was seeing things but I have seen them on most nights when the sky has been clear this month.

Why are there so few NLCs in the Southern Hemisphere? Presumably, if the causes are global, there would be little or no difference in the occurence of NLCs between the hemispheres...

There are fewer VOCs released into the atmosphere in the southern hemisphere. A gossamer cloud of gasoline highlights the effect.

In the 70s and 80s, these clouds shimmered like gasoline floating on water. That's why we now have regulations requiring locking gas caps and restrictions on releasing paint thinner and other VOCs into the atmosphere.

I'm really getting tired of people acting as if the climate of earth changing is a bad thing... Then again, I suppose people who want to literally "stop climate change" are even more migraine inducing...
