100% agree about Athena! The first 15 minutes tell a better, more complete, and compelling story than most Hollywood movies. And that cinematography had me rewinding to savor every scene.
cannot say enough great stuff about Leave No Trace; the acting is out of this world, and it's as emotional as anything I've seen in years. Beautiful film.
I 2nd this. I watched it initially cause I love Oregon, and it is great for some nice shots of it, but the story def took over. I really feel for them both, especially the dad.

I’ve seen Berlin Syndrome by just happening upon it one evening and, loving the underrated Therese Palmer, I kept watching...I was riveted, the whole way thru!!
I’ve seen closer, once in theatres and once on DVD. I loved that you ALMOST sounded like you called “Julia” Roberts, Julie!! For that, indeed, is her real given name! I went to highschool with her and was a grade behind her. She was not likeable. I’ll leave it at that.
But besides that, I’m watching all the films you suggested, except for one or two!! Thanx again!!

I saw Arctic last year. It's a good movie, watched from the safety and comfort of my own warm home.

Still my favourite Michael Keaton movies are “Clean and Sober” great 80s film with Morgan Freeman...and “Pacific Heights” with Matt Modine also great In this! If u haven’t seen I highly recommend 👍
Also I loved him as Batman, Inventing the Abbotts, and Beetlejuice!!!!
And in Pacific Heights, he plays the bad guy! I loved that movie. :)

I have watched "I Care A Lot," and t two lead characters are people who I absolutely despise. The actors did a very good in bringing those characters to life. Keep up the good work.

The TV series "Dark" is a great foreign series that's relatively unknown. (90+ on rotten tomatoes)
It actually got quite popular here in the U.S. towards the end of it's run but "1899" just released and is from the same creators.

My two best movie of 2022 are on Netflix: White Noise at #2 and my number one is Australian crime drama 'The Stranger.'

Athena - I have just watched the first 45 minutes and the cinematography is next level, this is going to need more than one watch to be able to work out some of the way the long takes have been arranged.
People don't talk enough about Reservoir Dogs. That's still one of my favorite Tarantino films. Very rewatchabe and quotable.

I was stunned when I saw Leave No Trace a few years back. Best movie I had seen in a long time. Very good acting, and great story. I'll give Athena and Avengement a try. Most of the others I've seen, thanks.
Arctic, I Am Mother and Leave No Trace are all excellent films. I Care A Lot, on the other hand, is in a class by itself. Amazing and unexpected. Highly concur with your recommendation. Will consider Avengement and Athena based on your rec. Thanks.

French here, and yes, in France, wearing any kind of weapon (firearm or even a knife) is prohibited and someone in the street with one would be immediately arrested. So in French history, violent rioters always used bottle rockets, paving stones, fireworks, etc..

Reservoir Dogs completely changed what I expected from movies and made me reevaluate what I considered GREAT movies. Fell in love with Tarantino's work and especially when he said that Big Wednesday was too good for surfers. Snap!
It would be very cool if you did lists that were family friendly, have 3 kids under 12 and love watching things with them but hard to find stuff

Leave No Trace...absolutely sublime. Beautiful and devastating. Thomasin McKenzie was a an absolute revelation. Ben Foster is damn good, as he is always. One of my all time favourites.

Why does reservoir dogs say 2019 though? It came out in the 90s I thought when I watched it or is that when it released on Netflix?
You show Reservoir Dogs as coming out in 2019 but in fact it came out in 1992.
I always watch your reviews and top 10s. I only have a small issue that you sort of favor the action genre more then any other. A small suggestion is how bout doing top 10s on anime's on each paticular streaming service. I don't think I've ever see you do those . I'll still watch your reviews tho.

You're right...your #1 is a TOTAL copout. No one needs to be told to watch Reservoir Dogs. Perhaps an honourable mention, but the #1 slot should be reserved for something we truly would have missed w/o the video.
Van Dam is the goto since Barry Norman passed. This guy just calls it exactly. Good stuff. Forget rotten tomatoes and IMDB. Darren knows!

I would recommend " the trip " a wickedly funny brutal little movie from Norway. if quentin tarantino movies like hateful eight is a movie you like I think you will enjoy this.

I like most movies I have seen Scott Adkins in and Avengement was one. I Care A Lot was a great movie as well as Artic. Just wish the ending of Artic was more to my taste.

Athena is the only one off the list that actually is available on Netflix here in Norway at the moment... Sucks to be a movie buff :(
i've watch a lot of your video's and obviously you review pretty much
all movies. But as for my self I prefer T.v. Series. Movies are pretty easy
to find and you do very few of those. I wish you would do more series because

I actually first saw the movie Arctic on a Flight. I enjoyed the movie and thought it was very good but the ending wasn’t very satisfying.
