      no, only if he is physically ready and personally believes he has a shot. 2022 was a miracle win, against all odds and beyond belief. his two 6-2 sets vs Djokovic in the quarters were beyond surreal and in all honesty i don't know how he won that year. he didn't play in 2023 so technically unbeaten and i firmly believe he shouldn't tarnish his record if he is not fully 💯 ready to go all the way. he can't serve with a lot of power, his forehand is too short though his backhand was fantastic at key moments.
      So, i will more than understand if he says no mas` at the french. everyone knows he is the greatest FO champion. By far. He has nothing left to prove

    I still sincerely believe that if Rafa is healthy and playing competitively at the end of this year he will play 2025 season. He hasn’t confirmed that 2024 will be his last; it’s all speculation and potentially this potentially that. 2024 hasn’t gone how he wanted it having been out for 1/3 of it and if he feels he still has a realistic chance of winning tournaments I can’t imagine him throwing the towel in yet. The amount of hard work and dedication it’s taking for him to come back after being off for so long just wouldn’t be worth it for just another 6 months of tennis. We shall see. Novak seems to be fatigued a lot easier than even 6 months ago so this may prevent him winning another slam. If Rafa plays a couple more years and only wins the French he will equalise on the 24 slams Novak has ❤

    Personally I think it's pretty clear Nadal has been avoiding going all out, doesn't want to be injured for RG/Rome. Once he won that set he upped his level a bit to finish it quickly, had he lost the tiebreaker I could see him dropping the second set.

    Just don't understand why RG can't give a seed number to Rafa.. after 14 titles there. Didn't Wimbledon give #1 to Serena when she was also coming back from an injury and out of Top100? I just feel Rafa is slowly trying to inform everyone that he's not playing RG, at least singles and I just hope it's not because how RG treats him regarding seeding the players for the tournament.

    • @z1az285
      @z1az285 16 дней назад

      Wimbledon seeding is different. the FO follows the same protocol as all other slams. that being said if rafa isn't physically ready to play BO 5, why should he tarnish his record (112-3) by playing when he doesn't have a chance to go all the way? plus RG has built a statue in his honor. its unprecedented but not surprising. No one has won a slam event 14 times in the open era. Its a staggering achievement, and may never be broken.. don't forget, he hasn't been beaten since 2022 and there is no shame if he doesn't play. after all, his last win was as champion and he won 2022 against all odds , and beyond belief. surreal achievement

      @@blucat4 Well, the FO seedings typically follow the ATP rankings. Rafa doesn't have a protected ranking anymore, so either he has to play qualies or given a wild card at best. but no, he can't be seeded at the french.

      He might be feeling okay today but he has had no ATP tour matches for almost 2 years. Matches played is just as important as mental and physical fitness when it comes to winning.
      It took Zverev months to get back to form after his long lay-off and he's only 27. It will be a miracle if Rafa keeps going in this tournament or at RG but the media keep asking anyway. I'm happy just to see him play. To win of course but we need to be realistic.
