They did good considering their age!! One tip from cheerleader to another, backspot grab their ankles and pull up so that the bases have less weight in their hands!
As a cheerleader myself I feel like I should give some tips. The bases need to push up with their legs more so they aren't struggling as much to get the flyer to prep. They also need to work on their timing for the bump downs. The flyer just needs to stay tight. The backspot needs to push up while grabbing on the ankles so the bases can get the flyer to prep easier. Other than those things they are doing great!
i only have a handful of tips, the flyer needs to lock her legs more and the main base looks like she’s having a hard time getting her up, which usually mean the flyer is pushing off their shoulders enough. one of the reasons the flyers legs might not be locked is because the bases have her foot on their chest which can roll their ankle. The bases could dip a little more and quicker, (load 1-2 dip 3-4 up5-6 hold 7-8) those are the best counts i find to work. otherwise their doing great.
@Vanessa Diaz lol 😂 it actually reminds me of another way we would describe how to lock legs & stay tight to the flyers years ago when they were little...a little gross when you think about it but it works...pretend for some reason you’re holding an M&M in your bottom & squeeze super-tight so it doesn’t fall out 🤣
I'm a full time competitive cheerleader. They are doing great! just when the flyer comes down at 1:18 her knees should be together and the bases need to go down at the same time.
@@samzogg90 you shouldn’t be “scared” of cheering coming from an all star cheerleader if your scared actually wait u can’t be scared of anything honestly.
im a base and both left and right bases should use their legs instead of using their arms to help the flyer get to a full. (something u need to know when basing.)
Jason Cashio great point! The Coaches helped them with their timing & after weeks of practice they got the timing & just won their cheer competition Saturday!
I’m a base and the flyer really needs to stay tight and get her legs together… also THEY WERENT DIPPING WHEN THEY BUMPED DOWN SHE JUST KINDA FELL sorry it made me frustrated and nervous lol edit: sorry for the agression I understand that they are only about 9 and that’s really good for their age but if you don’t teach them proper technique when they first start then they’ll never do it correctly (my coach says that to me and a few of the other cheerleaders on the team almost everyday)
As a cheerleader myself, I think I might have some useful tips. Make sure they’re using their legs, not their back and make sure they’re dipping make sure the two side bases are on the same page and always make iContact and make sure that the flier is walking her knees and squeezing And in and for a lib the side base should not have to hold the flyers leg up she should do that for her self the side base should be helping the main base hold some of the wait the back sports hands should be on her side and her ankle
I’m a back spot and when lifting the flyer you want to grab her hips lifting her up, not wrapping your arms around her. It’s the same with when she is coming down, and the bases don’t need to drop or bring the flyer down the flyers get down when they bring her to their belly buttons and they hop down. Also when the back-spot is grabbing the flyer’s ankles make sure her elbows are pointed out and her thumbs are the only fingers on the back of her ankles. I’m not trying to be rude these are just some helpful tips.
This was honestly good but I think that the smush, bump, load needs work, it can help by bases keeping a Strong grip and the back spot really catching here thighs instead of her hips another thing backspot should hold ankle not legs it work much better you can pull up way more, coming from a back spot and base i would say it was very impressive just keep perfecting.
Cheerleading tips # 1For the sholder sit the flyer needs her arms to be in front more and not at her sides #2 in the sholder sit to pred the girl in the yellow her position is not a back spot it's actually called a third/third base #3 the flyers legs need to be locked in place #4 as a third we your signaling to pop the flyer down you don't say bump down you say ready down five six seven eight one two three four five six seven eight on one the bases lower down and the flyer lowers there arms for the bases to help pop the flyer down on two the bases pop up and lunch the flyer down the third also help kinda lift the flyer up from there you stay crouched half way hands at your side until seven eight you stand up straight
On your dismounts, those dips were a little too weak. It looks like they're just putting their arms down. The bases have to communicate and dip on the same count or else the stunt could fall and someone could get hurt. And every time you load into a prep, they're just coming up. They have to dip to give the flyer a warning. I could tell especially in the twist-up that the flyer was doing all the work and the bases just came up slowly and they didn't dip so everyone is just all over the place. They just need to use their legs a little bit more so it can look more clean
Good Job!!! I'm a flyer but my backspot keeps punching me in my face any advise on how i can be a better flyer? and what my backspot is doing wrong? or am i doing something wrong?
Punch her back of course😄JK! Don’t do that! Your back could try focusing on catching you at your waist for a bump & under your arms for a pop to stay away from your face. You could try focusing on keeping your eyes & head looking forward & up to avoid looking down where a punch might get you.
I used get punched in the face when I cradled all the time. When you cradle instead of leaning back AND bringing your feet up try to just bring your feet up and keep the front of your body facing forward. It makes you easier to catch and your back spots arms will go underneath yours and won’t have the opportunity to hit you. Hope this helped!
Make sure everything is tight and your head is up! If you’re talking about a cradle, make sure you don’t sit. When they dip you and let go, you might lean back a little bit which is why you’re getting punched.
The back spot should try catching your shoulder blades instead of under your arms on my team every back spot backspots different when I used to backspot I did a few things that helped the flyer and me for example in a squish I would push up by her but and once she was in the stunt I’d grab her ankles and instead of catching under her arms I caught her shoulder blades that way her hands are in your face and when you cradle and she is less likely to punch you
As a flyer heres some tips · flyers need to lock out and tighten up ·bump down you should clean then bend your knees and find the bases shoulders ·the bases need to make eye contact ·BE MORE CONFIDENT YOUR DOING GREAT!
I’m a flyer and a back spot but I know that the base should be dipping and the girl needs to be in a real sponge she’s not getting up right because the bases aren’t dipping at the same time and also they’re barely dipping
I am a flyer and I'm on a cheer team at my school. The flyers legs need to be locked when she is up in a prep or even in extension. My coach always tells me to pretend there is $1,000,000 credit card in between my butt cheeks and if I drop the card I don't get that million dollars and I lose it forever. And make sure that the bases have a good connection and good bond so that way they can dip together. Also when you're in a lib the base shouldn't be holding on to the flyers foot that's going up. Instead the girl should help the main base hold the girls foot and the flyer has to be able to stand on 1 foot and keep 1 foot up. Make sure the flyers ' are together when she gets up in that position to go up to a prep or extension. That means the bases need to come closer together and closer to the flyer so that way she can hop in with her legs together and the flyers hands need to move toward the flyers feeg not the other way around. At my school when we do bump downs we actually call them squishes so the bases dip and go up to extension but instead of staying in extension they come straight down. Also make sure to have proper counts so the bases and the flyer and backspot know when to dip and to go up into a prep or extension. Some counts that might work are bases: 5678 clean 1, turn To flyer with hands ready 2, wait 3, catch flyer and dip 4, up 5 6, hold 7 8, flyer: 5678 clean 1, wait 2, dip 3, hop into bases hands 4, up 5 6, hold 7 8, backspot: 5678 clean 1, hands on flyers hips 2, help her dip 3, help her hop into bases hands 4, help her go up 5, hands on ankles or thighs 6, hands on ankles 7, hold 8. For bump downs I'd say bases: 5678 dip 1, hands together for flyers feet 2, let her go 3, turn 4, flyer: 5678 wait 1, legs bent and hands on bases shoulders 2, down 3, wait 4, backspots: 5678 dip 1, move feet together and start to hold her thighs 2, bring her down 3, wait 4. I hope this works. Sorry if I'm making you feel like its bad I just wanted to give you some tips from a main and most experienced flyer on a cheer team.
okay so first of all why is the flyer in the blue shorts taller then her bases and even backspot! that’s most of the reason why the bases are finding it hard to bump down. if she falls out of the stunt she’ll go right of the backspot! i realize this was 5 years ago it just annoys me
I saw a few mistakes. The back spot needs to grab the flyers ankles not the flyers legs. The back spot also needs to put the flyers feet together same with the bases. And also they all need to be tighter.
Guys first off they aren’t always going to be perfect they are young and still learning they also probably don’t have as much experience competitive cheerleaders I’m a competitive all star cheerleader and I know how to stunt more advanced skills but you don’t see me hating it’s also not always the flyers fault bases and backspots have problems too they will get better stop hating

They were terrible bad example they don’t dip and they are to far away in the prep the bases need to use there legs and the flyer needs to lock her knees and squeeze
Also the bases can’t bring her legs but out when they bump down to a squish also the backspot can’t shake or look away or take their hands off of the flyer that is an illegal move even for a level 4 team and I bet they don’t even have good back walkovers

I already left a comment but when they’re going in she needs her legs to be together and when they’re going out she needs her legs to be together and I am a flyer and I have been flying for four years now I also only to look up at all times and pay attention
The shoulder sit was completely wrong and unsafe, the flyers legs need to be way closer and they need to dip when they go now that’s why she can’t get down all the way
I think if the back spot pulled up on her ankles, you guys dipped together and you had cheer shoes. It would have been better because you can't teach someone how to stunt, the wrong way. I'm on state allstar wildcats and I'm a flyer (in Pennsylvania) catch us at regionals in January!!

Hi so I did cheer a while ago as a flyer and how do I get in again as a flyer?
they’re gonna need more power going up, the flyer is struggling getting up that’s where a good back base comes in
Everything that they did, I went to extension with them
Maybe learn one thing at a time instead of just throwing all of the stunts at them , just let them perfect on and move on the another one

Oh no! You’re a brave flyer 😆

So true everyone needs to get close and be tighter
Yep 👍 this was their 1st week of practice... they worked hard to get better & won their League Championship!💗
im a backspot for my high school cheer team and this is so not-
alizé martinez 😂you’re right, it’s not High School & it’s only the 1st week of practice... these girls practiced hard, perfected stunts & won their league competition 📣
A bump down is a sopange she need to lock and stand
Yes, the goal is lock & stand 👍
Der Flyer ist grösser als die back das geht nd
Can I join y'all
sure
come join :)
I already left a comment but when they’re going in she needs her legs to be together and when they’re going out she needs her legs to be together and I am a flyer and I have been flying for four years now I also only to look up at all times and pay attention
the bases rlly need to work on dipping
ToniAnn Gaeta you’re so right...they worked really hard on that & finally got in time to win our championship!😃👍
Sam Zogg omg congratulations🥳
I'm the main base
You have a big job! You go girl!
They don't look stable from a cheerleader pov you should never let the stunt out of practice if there not stable
Desiree Chagolla thx for your advice. That’s a great point. Viewers should use this as a starting point & keep hitting these till they’re stable.👍
The shoulder sit was completely wrong and unsafe, the flyers legs need to be way closer and they need to dip when they go now that’s why she can’t get down all the way
Ooh, good point. Thx so much. We’ll work on that next season.
Sam Zogg no problem!
Flyer needs to lock out and legs need to be together going down to bump and going up she needs to stand up fast!
Yes, thx!💗
the bases need to learn the counts and do the counts. And not go so low on bump downs, her arms need to be locked out.
Mikaella Wilmot Thx! Good luck 🍀 In January!!!
The flyer with the lite blue shorts was not tight I am a cheerleader and I am a flyer they need to be tight the flyer with the navy blue shorts was great she was tight not scared sh should of flayed the whole time
The one with light blue shorts was scared
the backspot needs to be a little louder
She needs to lock out
Anyone cringing at how far apart their legs are and how unsure the girls are... eek
Ciara O'Brien they had a long way to go to perfect these stunts for competition... it took a few weeks of training & hard work 😓 but a couple months after this video was shot they won their league competition!💗
Sam Zogg are you a professional coach? Or is this just a family organized club just out of curiosity since it’s not a gym atmosphere?
It’s Rec 😃
Is this JV team?
No, Rec 😃
