Came here from Colm Wilkinson... Talk about a culture shock! But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE listening to John Barrowman sing!!! And he certainly put his own spin on one of my favorite songs! Keep having fun, John! We're all having a blast with you!
I love the way he moves back in the aisle between the havles of the orhcestra. It's like he's saying "It's not just me with some dudes supporting me... we're all a critical part of this amazingness"
Aw he's just moving to the music. What a performance with this song. Well done, John. Certain songs John's voice isn't powerful enough to do justice; this one is in what we like to refer to as "his wheelhouse." Incredible job John.
There is a wine sold in Lidls called Libertario that comes from the La Mancha in Spain and there on the front is Don Quixote I only got it for the name now I love it .
@mariaraeburn well he did do the show in 1991. They sent him to Spain to get his matador costume. He was probably given proper dancing lessons. Plus it's John Barrowman he's just fantastic.
Very performance, but when I hear this performance, I hear John Barrowman out there having fun. When I hear the cats recording with Richard Kiley, I hear Alonzo Quijana and hear the delusion of a jaded old man in his voice and person. Small nit to pick and two totally different contexts, I understand. Oh, and the name of this song is "I Don Quixote," not "Man of La Mancha."
I find it absolutely hilarious that the two best versions of this I've ever heard were sung by a woman (hi, Linda Eder!) and the gayest gay who ever did gay in Gayville (hi, Barrowman!)
Am I the only one who thinks he's having just a little bit TOO much fun singing this... dont get me wrong I love it, wouldnt have it any other way, but the hips!
Okay, I love John Barrowman, and he's a decent tenor, but this is extremely campy and not really in the spirit of the song at all. Also, this was clearly written for a baritone, which he is not.
He actually considers himself a lyric baritone, with some lower baritone and some tenor in his overall range. I think it's a good performance, though I question his wardrobe choice (not for the song, just the outfit in general doesn't suit him that well or look like a performance outfit)
いろいろユーチューブに上がっていますが、やはり、この歌を聴いてしまう。😁

the man is such a great show stopper.
Hot guy, terrific chops.

He is a gorgeous man with a wonderful voice. I have always loved this song and he does it beautifully.
I never knew he could even sing until I found this video. I've always loved this song, but what a stunning performance. Bravo!
this song gives me chills every time i listen to it. This is one of my favorite male voices right now!
What a wonderful performance by the great John Barrowman, I really love this song!!!
Bullshit barrowman
2 weevils and 2 windmills disliked this video.
Hear me now, oh, thou bleak and unbearable world
Thou art base and debauched as can be
And a knight with his banners all bravely unfurled
Now hurls down his gauntlet glory
I am I, Don Quixote the Lord of La Mancha
My destiny calls and I go
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
Oh, whither soever they blow
Whither soever they blow, onward to glory I go
I'm Sancho, yes, I'm Sancho
I'll follow my master till the end
I'll tell all the world proudly
I'm his squire, I'm his friend
Hear me heathens and wizards and serpents of sin
All your dastardly doings are past
For a holy endeavor is now to begin
And virtue shall triumph at last
I am I, Don Quixote, the Lord of La Mancha
(I'm Sancho, yes, I'm Sancho)
My destiny calls and I go
(I'll follow my master till the end)
And the wild winds of fortune will carry me onward
(I'll tell all the world proudly)
Oh, whither soever they blow
(I'm his squire, I'm his friend)
Whither soever they blow, onward to glory we go

Good style, face and voice🎹🎼🎼🎹
"Though art based and debauched as can be..." Thank you, Captain Jack Harkness!
Love you John 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
LOVE THIS! FANTASTIC! BRAVA! BRAVA!
Jack Harkness as Don Quixote? I absolutely want to see that.
Capt jack harkness is the man...of La Mancha!
he's so GORGEOUS xxxxxxxx
Damn it Barrowman. You have no right to make this song sexy.
🙃

#teambarrowman forever! ❤
Guapo y buen cantante
Damn John knows how to put on a show
It's really pretty lucky that Scott Gill is so gorgeous and adorable when with John otherwise...
Very nice !! It's him !!!
He kills it so much I can forgive him getting the words wrong in the first verse.
I don't think he's getting the words wrong, it sounds like he has a whole separate set of lyrics
The chorus lyrics are from the reprise at the end of the show right before the arrival of the Knight of the Mirrors I believe

No! No! Now no one will EVER be able to resist him!
WOW!

He's also a dancer XP

Kim Millard its called man of La Mancha and the other part is in quotes look it up
No. THe show is called "Man of La Mancha." But Kim is right. THis song is "I, Don Quixote." Look it up.
love JB, love this song, love him singing this song, what i dont really love is the odd little dance moves he keeps doin lol
I find it absolutely hilarious that the two best versions of this I've ever heard were sung by a woman (hi, Linda Eder!) and the gayest gay who ever did gay in Gayville (hi, Barrowman!)
simplystreeptacular Absolutely what I was thinking! Eder and Barrowman !
Its kind of 70s broadway... but then so was Man of LaMancha
❤️
Not as good as Scott Bakula but still pretty darn good Capt Jack
This may seems sexist, but I think this song is better when a man sings it.
Forgiving the Vegas Show styling of the singing… the orchestration is very well done… capturing the SPANISH elements in the score!
Think Barrowman better cast as Aldonza
Yikes. That guy sang that song with all the passion of a sophomore who quickly needed an audition piece for the school production of "Oklahoma".
Dances like the typical father of the bride when they are first on the dance floor.
I look at him and cannot not think of Malcom Merlyn of Arrow
I look at him and cannot not think of Captain Jack Harkness
Am I the only one who thinks he's having just a little bit TOO much fun singing this... dont get me wrong I love it, wouldnt have it any other way, but the hips!
And vice versa :-)
🤍
Oy vey, a very camp rendition.
It is sang very well but he doesn't give the emotional context of it
Can the wig!! and sing

I also haven't figured out why they changed the lyrics. But you're right, definitely not in the spirit of the song.
He actually considers himself a lyric baritone, with some lower baritone and some tenor in his overall range. I think it's a good performance, though I question his wardrobe choice (not for the song, just the outfit in general doesn't suit him that well or look like a performance outfit)
Debauched. Servants of sin. Yup.
what's with the dancing lol ... so funny ... but i won't criticise, i like him anyway ;)
too tenor... cute and gay! hi John! 😉
We know that Don Quixote is crazy but he isn't gay. Richard Kiley is still the definitive Man of La Mancha.
great song but it's better by a woman, JB could never hit the high notes
Not bad, not good either, missed pronounced some of the lyrics, but still okay
He is not even singing the right lyrics.... Destroyer of Evil am I.... A Name all the world soon will know
ugh, not as powerful or compelling as other performances, especially Linda Eder...sorry, too 'show-tuney' for me...
too bad they ruined his captain jack character
gayest Don Quixote ever
super gay
Nope
