Handling insurance issues, bills that come in and don't match up with what the insurance pays. Getting duplicate bills 8 months later and a denial from the insurance company because it's a duplicate and you can't sit down with a human and spread this crap out on the table and play matchy matchy!!! That's my zipper! Oh, and zippers. My chore coat is held together by the liner zipper because the outer zipper unzipped and left the scene. Short synopsis, I feel your pain Kenny. And hey, good to see you guys!
I totally understand what you're saying and I love making stuff and learnt myself/kids as we go along,I'd love you to see more videos of your family and animals adventures,I know your busy but it would be so lovely to see all those lovely animals again ♥️👍🐓🐐🐈🐕🦆♥️
Never let that ‘zipper’ beat you. Get a zipper foot for your sewing machine, it will definitely help. This was fabulous, the way you put forward your grief with the ‘zipper’ was just exactly how everyone has a dilemma with at least one annoying object in life.
“A jack of all trades is a master of none but often times better than a master of one." The complete quote... Keep at it, Kenny. My friend, learning is always a good thing. Where there is no learning, there is atrophy/no growth.
I knew it was about time to hear from you guys. I have had some of that fear of failure the last few years, I didn't have it the first 50 years, for which I am thankful, because this totally sucks! The only way not to fail is don't do anything pertaining to the failure monster, whatever it is today, right? It started with depression when my husband passed away. The depression is finally getting better but no sign yet that its taking this other failure stuff with it. I am sorry you have that to deal with. Now, the zipper, I know how to do that! I learned one step at a time. Find a zipper and an odd piece of material not suited to be used on anything and put a zipper in it, if you don;t like how it looks, rip it out and do it again. You do have a seam ripper and thats a good use for it. your struggle might be related to how you set the pins, cross ways or vertical. Good luck!
My zipper is my art. I’m a trained painter but I get hung up on the “perfection”. Nothing else in my life is that way. I dive in head first cooking, gardening, building the homestead with my husband, I even make sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls etc. but my paintings are my zipper. Thanks for this! Here’s to overcoming zippers and finding our next zipper. 🤩
The BEST way to learn how to put a zipper in is to take it out of the package, then open the package up fully and follow the directions exactly! If you are afraid of the machine needle breaking or sewing over pins, I used small pieces of tape on the outside edge of the zipper to hold it in place while sewing it it. It was very helpful to my daughters when I taught them how to sew also. Good luck! You can do it!
Kenny, If you can go from never having used a sewing machine, to making those beautiful designer bags all by way of teaching yourself, then NO zipper can hold you back!!!! When Life gives you Zippers make Hand Bags (or something similar)!!!!😂😆 You've Got This!!!! So awesome to see a post from LOBR!!!! We love y'all!!! Stay safe!!!
Hello Kenny , you have multi talents! You've got this ! And if not then Velcro can be your best friend! I hope that all is well you you and your family! 👍
Kenny I believe if you learned all those tools that you will catch on with the zipper as well! Gee I've been thinking about you all and wondering why you haven't been posting and here you are...yay! I hope all is well with you all!
I think we can all relate to this dilemma, but you'll persevere and be on to your next "zipper" before you know it ...LOL Miss you guys; hope you'll keep posting videos!
OH, YEAH!! My first "zipper" was electrical work. I had to put outlets in upstairs, move an existing outlet from where we were putting our wood stove, add an outdoor outlet for the water pump, and add breakers to the breaker box. I was scared to death!! I mean, if I did it wrong I could burn down the house or electrocute myself! It took me MONTHS to get up the nerve to do what needed to be done. I watched multiple YT videos on how to do it, multiple times. But, it HAD to be done and I couldn't afford an electrician for this. I finally sucked it up, connected all the wires in the right places, plugged into the breakers . . . , and the house is STILL standing and I assure you this is NOT a ghost typing this. Oh, and yeah, they all work! :D (Did I tell you I was scared to death of messing with electricity?) Now, on to . . . , plumbing!
when I have a "zipper" project I put the PRO in procrastinate. You can only do that so long before you just have to try it. If you fail, you have learned how not to do it next time. Watch another how to video and try again.
Sooo many zippers in my life! I spend a lot of time fetal in my bed waiting for the moment when my mojo hits so I can accomplish stuff. Recently it was dealing with a technology challenge. I managed it in the end but I kind of went the easy way rather than attempting the hard way. Oh well, got it done. All the best with your zipper. I believe they are very difficult to do when starting out. You'll get there x
The same thing happens to me when I am creating. I can do it but I doubt myself. So i will drag my feet clean house bake with this thought on my mind and then i will realize I am just stalling. So then i just jump in. But I think a lot of times I feel like I might mess up all I have done so far. So I procrastinate.
Zippers. I usually don't use them for 3 reasons. 1 is that, like you, i cant figure out how to sew it in and have it look good. 2 is that most zippers available at craft stores are low quality. 3 is that if the zipper ever fails usually the entire project needs to be taken apart to replace the zipper. I use buttons.
Zippers can be a pain. I have two ways to sew in zippers. First way is to pin it on the seam of fabric, I hate this way the most. You have to get that zipper perfect on the seam and hope the machine doesn’t go wonky over the pins. I’ve been known to hand sew these zippers in and not fight with the pins. Second way is hand stitch zipper into place. This one I use when I repair a jacket zipper. After zippers is replace I remove the hand stitches and it’s done. I try not to buy any patterns that has to have a zipper.
I know nothing how to do zipper’s Kenny, sorry. I would of shared and tagged a lady who sew’s (adds zippers to cotton shirt’s she makes) but she’s end up saying the same thing you probably heard. It’s nice seeing you two, I hope you all are doing well:) take care and good luck on the zippers 👍🏽
Oh my dear, sweet Kenny! I'm fairly certain that you just summed (one of) my main issues up in under 4 minutes and 56 seconds - FU#&ING ZIPPERS!!! I'm praying that some brain boggler gives us the answer in the comments, and am self-flagelating for not being able to provide more insight. I hope you guys are doing great and the baby is cooking on schedule 💕 Love you guys!!
Get 25 cheap zippers, and 25 scraps of fabric. You're not putting in zippers, You're just helping them hook-up with their fabric buds. By the time you finish playing matchmaker with them all, you will be ready to put in a zipper.
Are you my brother from another mother, or is that father? We are just alike. But one thing about you and me is that we do overcome the zipper and can do most everything! Yeah for us! Now go put in that zipper! And read Teddy Roosevelt’s speech, It’s Not the Critic That Counts. It’s inspirational.
But dang John! Your workshop is immaculate! And in 1 year you learned to do everything from aprons to handbags! Ya, super looser. LOL! NOT! Dude your doing good! Don’t let the perfect get in the way of good. Just keep at it. Oh and uh there’s probably a you tube video on how to sew zippers. Hope my little joke did not offend. ☺️

Zippers are the worst🙂💖

All the best with your zipper. I believe they are very difficult to do when starting out. You'll get there x
Getting it done is getting it done! Good for you!!
Ah Kenny you got this. You ain't no quitter 👍 ( or there's always ductape 😂)
Duct tape and zip ties!
I haven't had too many zippers (except marrying) because I keep trying - or use velcro! You can do it!
🤣

Exactly!! Like if I mess up this zipper I’ll mess up the whole project! 😬

You’ve done this once or twice 😂
...and had to learn the hard way, lol.

Watch Debbie Shaw she makes bags etc lots of advice on zippered bags xxx.

Not offended in the slightest! We’ve got tough skin! And we are built for sarcasm and satire!
Practice that zipper on cheap materials
Yes!!
