sorry that is wrong.. you must not let him/her hold your hold as you stand. your hand will go on there shoulder as you stand. after the patient is standing and steady you then offer your hand as you will walk. your hand will be inn a fist or flat with your own thumb tucked in,

      Thanks for reviewing the video.
Below is the reply from one of our Instructors:-
He is and he isn't right. Every time we assist a patient we are supposed to carry out a risk assessment or at least be aware of their care plan and use this as guidance. It's acceptable to hold the shoulder or offer your hand which ever technique the Carer decides is best and safest for both themselves and the patient.
Bottom line there's more than one safe way to assist a patient. You will notice that I mention a risk assessment was carried out before I performed the task.

true u did say about only one carer needed to assist, but still. only saying one carer to assist didn't say why. so it could be balance and if so its more than 100% wrong as him/her holding your fist/hand does not balance there body. am a facilitator in moving and handling and i would report that move to sssc if i ever seen it . safest movement is always one hand one bottom of back and other at shoulder

Hi Martin, you do understand that Safety Ireland is an Irish training company based in Ireland right?
You make a reference to "SSSC" which I think might mean Scottish Social Services Council, is that correct?
I hope as a facilitator / instructor you would understand that there is always more then one way to accomplish a task and we are always learning and updating our skills.
Also your spelling and grammar as a facilitator are sadly poor.
But again thanks for viewing our videos.
