As a Filipino who immigrated to Canada when I was younger, I'm so glad I found your channel, and I'm happy you're reconnecting with your roots Mico, and that you're able to take Nicole with you on the journey. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your Philippine adventures!
There we’re actually more than a 100 languages in the Philippines. Almost each provinces has their own language. So love to watch your vlogs. Both of you are very fun, lively to watch.
I guess you didn't hear that Jollibee is now in Calgary... I haven't been there but some of the guys at work were pretty excited when it opened. I'm sure enjoying your journey. Thanks for sharing.
Found your channel by accident and got real interested with family immigration history. Welcome to the motherland. I believe you know more Tagalog than you’re scared to admit especially if you can pick up on the conversations. You Don’t need to talk much Tagalog and one to two words of acknowledgment back goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to speak coz the locals are to respectful to correct you. Im also first generation US immigrant (I was 9 years old when we arrived in Seattle in 1972). Grew up just like you in wanting to assimilate, lost my accent but I managed to keep speaking Tagalog as I got older. Wishing you both a good time there and your quest to connect with your roots.
Makati is also a very nice area, specifically Salcedo Village and Legazpi Village (around Greenbelt). It feels completely different from BGC but still very nice
Nicole and Mico we deeply appreciate your coming to enjoy our beautiful Philippines, especially Mico who isa true blooded Filipino and his Canadian partner,Nicole. Savour your stay with our brand of Hospitality in the Philippines. Enjoy my friends and good luck,!!!

Hello from Calgary guys and love the vid and definitely lots of places to see and visit in manila in itself. Take care and look forward to new content from you guys! Godspeed!
try the Filipino Chinese food tour at chinatown, and there are popular guides that is well known, make sure you pick the right guy to guide you for food tour in china town
Usually BGC is so popular and no blogger will skip going to a very modern new city like BGC. There are seven malls in BGC area. Did you know that Filipinos love to stroll in the mall just spend time with family and friends, which I think is the reason why there are huge malls in Manila and everywhere in provinces will always be a mall, even in Baguio city.
@@nicoleandmico I’ve been living in Long Beach city in LA, where malls here are nothing compared to the malls in Manila. I’m from the Quezon City where the very first biggest mall in Manila was built, the SM CITY NORTH EDSA.
That hand sign you guys were talking about at 4:16 popularized in the noontime tv show Eat Bulaga ‘That’s my Boy’ segment signifying pogi or guapo. No wonder at age 6, or 7 you knew it already having been born and raise here before moving to Canada.
Great video. It’s great to see other Canadians out there exploring. My wife is Filipino. We we’re back a few months ago. Did you Jollibee is in Canada as well. However I find the Canadian menu not as good as the menu in the Philippines.
Oh that's so interesting to know! We left for full-time travel a few years ago and Jollibee wasn't available in our home city in Canada yet, so we are interested to try it the next time we are back. I have a feeling we will feel the same as you do about it - that it isn't quite the same as the Philippines 😊
Hello guys try chicken inasal so good😋I tried wen I was take vacation in the Philippines.God bless you and keep always 👍😊 watching from USA CALIFORNIA PUSONG PINAY ❤️
Another interesting yo explore is the Aseana City near Mall of Asia. There you visit City of Dreams, Okada and Newly Built Ayala and Parqal Mall. Thats inside the Parañaque City in Manila. The Future Casino District in the Bay area.
That's a very beautiful area and I hope you are going tour some of the markets as you've done in in other countries. How's the coffee been, and is there a coffee culture there where you are currently at?
If by chance the Higher Education was not able to change and have not abolished the Spanish mandatory subject in all colleges during the 70s and 80s , then Philippines could have been a country with 3 major languages which perhaps widely spoken around the country . Aside from Filipino Tagalog and English as you guys have mentioned.

Welcome to the Philippines, Nicole amd Mico! Stumbled onto you guys today. Great video btw full of fun and interesting information and you guys are fun and awesome presenting it. Philippines is very unique and Metro manila manifests it in alot of ways. The people, culture and the surroundings are a mix of western (spanish, American) and asian (malay, indian, Chinese, japanese and local) that you won't typically find in any other city in Asia. My suggestion if it gets too hot and humid where you are but still want to be outdoors amd are still in thr city, try visiting the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon city preferably on a weekend (no public vehicles inside the campus academic oval). Lots of nature, good scenery and oconic landmarks. There are also lots of good restaurants and street food surrounding the university walking distance. Anyway take care and best wishes always! Enjoy your vacation and greetings from a new sub from California 😊
Yes the Chinese are the ones who get rich more because mostly of them were unscrupulous businessman they usually buy agricultural products from our local Filipino farmers for a very cheap price, aside from that many Filipinos were un educated which force then to find a sort of living which is very difficult to earn at standard rate that would be unable to buy for daily food stuffs.
Yes I am! I was born in the Philippines but moved to Canada at age 6. This is my second time back since my family moved to Canada, and Nicole's first time in the Philippines
Thats "picture framing" your face when your photo is taken. Originally it is done with 2 hands, but people usually do it with 1. It wasnt invented by pinoys, but became a "pinoy" thing, It got popular in the philippines around 1990s.
Its is safe compared to USA. No mass shootings(gun violence) no drug addicts roaming in the streets, filipinos are not racist dont worry. Terrorism was a very very very old news, its in south of mindanao philippines, but now the problem was sold, no need to worry. Filipinos are polite and respectful as what they said. Its a golden rule while travelling,be very extra careful wherever country u are travelling.
You will have a fantastic time here in the Philippines! The people are so friendly and welcoming. Getting around is easy (might need to buy domestic flights in advance) and getting around with English is very doable. I would not worry about racism or terrorism. Just exercise the same level of caution you would for any place you travel. Stick to the touristy parts or go with a local/friend to the more off the beaten track places. You will have a great time 😊
