You are a lovely family person. What a thoughtful present to your in laws. It brings tears to my eyes. Even Asian daughter in laws won't give respect to their in laws. God bless you. Your in-laws are very lucky to have you as well. All the best.
It is so pleaing to see this young lady from Finland assimilate and adopt the traditions and customs of her husband and his family. She is indeed a lovely and compassionate person. All the very best wishes to you both and the little who is on the way.
Most Indians have forgotten, but I would salute the mom for remembering that we must always give the first meal(that roti) to the animals at home and then we should eat. We have a doggy at home, my mother gives the 1st roti to him. This has been said in our holy scriptures.

It is quite heart-warming to see how you have accepted Vinod's family. I hope Vinod knows how lucky he is happy to have you in his life. He is good in his own way. God bless you both.
Hi Vinod & Johanna Thanks for the wonderful video of your family and yourself celebrating Diwali . It was nice to see everyone coming together and contributing for the festivities. Right from preparing sweets by Mom, lighting Diyas around your home by you and Sangeeta were done meticulously. Papa giving sweets to everyone was a very loving gesture. You looked very nice in a saree, of course Mom and sister too. Vinod and Papa's clothes were simple but good. Your gift to Mom and Dad was very innovative and I can see you have put in a lot of time and effort. Great. Thanks once again. Bye . Take care. Wishes to all at home. 👍
Hi Joanna I've heard of Diwali but I have never experienced it, it was very interesting to see how step by step the celebration is done . What a loving family . So you have enjoyed celebrating Diwali. I think you have learnt Diwal rituals also . Vinod is with a smiling face. Stay blessed.
I’ve read a lot about hindu festivals like Diwali, so I already knew many of the rituals that might be included in the celebrations. But what really matters to me is experiencing Diwali with my family and with the specific traditions my family has, because thats what any festivals and holidays are about in my opinion ☺️ for me even christmas is not a religious celebration, but something that belongs to my culture and is an important family tradition 🥰

How lovely to partake virtually in your Diwali celebrations as I begin mine for Advent (the four Sundays before Christmas Day starting on November 29) and the Christmas season. I am now in the process of arranging the lighting on the exterior and interior my home, making the lists of staples I will need to prepare festive dishes, and later in December I will enjoy much music and a decorated tree. Due to Covid I may be celebrating as an individual as social gatherings outside our own households are currently discouraged in some parts of Canada and forbidden in others. Therefore, from my traditions I will create a beautiful and sacred space for myself in which to banish the increasing darkness and welcome the returning light.
I feel the same way about Christmas, Lynda! I'm not religious at all, and have never followed Christian rituals during the Christmas season, but it's a cultural celebration for me and a family tradition that I always enjoyed, which makes it critically important for me to celebrate now with my own family too and pass on to our future babies! :) Once we return to our home in Kerala, I'll also be starting the Christmas preparations. I'm very excited to share my own favourite Finnish festival with Mommy and Daddy too. So far we've only had a small, low-key celebration every year with Vinod and last year we were unfortunately travelling during Christmas. But I'm looking forward to spending it at home this year and creating my own DIY version for the whole family

According to Hindu tradition first roti should be native Indian cows and last ( night) roti should be for Street dogs
Here in haryana we gives first rotti to cow. 😀
My mom ist gives food in the morning to crows also
In my family first food for cow .and then to first bhoga to thakur ki(Krishna) then after we only eat prasadam .
For kashmiri pandits, we usually gave the first rice to the birds.
