Hi all, this is stephen. hope you all enjoy the replay :)
for any asking, im currently very rusty at the game so i've dropped down in mmr. i currently sit at around bottom of m1, but i have been GM multiple times in the past (was 5.1-5.2 for most of a year peaked around 5.4 before voidray meta)
In this game i was vs Vagabond, who since then has changed his name to "fourbetbluff" he's a 5100 GM terran at time of writing this rank 134gm.

Just came across this replay and I've got to say this game was incredible. It was so entertaining to watch and I love your playstyle! Too few zergs use burrow these days, and you use it perfectly.
Burrow is one of the coolest but also most underused ability the race has. I remember Scarlett vs Bomber on Red Bulls: Battlegrounds, the whole game was turned around due to burrowed banelings!
What an epic moment! Scarlett running over to the commentators right after and giggling in excitement, can't wait for your video covering it. Just got done watching your video on QXC and it was such a great trip down memory lane

I used to do the burrow thing in 2v2 back in Wings of Liberty. You delay an expansion, you get to split an opponent's army, consume some of their resources AND you know which expansion(s) he's going for, which is excellent for Muta harass. And it costs so little. Love to see it in action.
Haha so sick. Funny when you're dropping creep out of an overlord as well, they clear the overlord, wait for the creep to clear and only then do they realise there was a unit burrowed underneath all along 😂

Yeah, I don't really think you can call Stephen the smooth-brain player here. He compensated his lack of mechanical prowess (smooth-brain muscle memory) with deliberate tactics (actual thinking).
I didn't see any raven. Would've been sick tho.

One of the best games I ever saw. I always loved burrow. Such a great ability.
Ghost / Banshee cloaking is very strong (and they move of course).
Burrow however doesn't require energy, but you need to be still (but for moving roaches).
Imho a free "hide" ability beats a paying moving one all the time. It however requires great APM and multitask.
This was the scrappiest of the scrap. Great game! Must admit I've also done the queen drop as a response to a nasty single tank position. ^_^

I recently built 2 evos to block the mineral lines at the natural... and then proceeded to build 2 more for upgrades. Only realized what i done after those finished :

i am noob but from my point of view, zerg is THE macro race and you are busy injecting and spamming hotkeys anyways so microing units with stuff like burrow is rightfully out of scope
I’ve never had a lot of success using Ravagers against siegetanks despite everyone else telling me they are so effective against tanks. The delay of the biles killing a tank is plenty of time for the tanks to mash my Ravagers in retaliation

For the Terran player. Since he was running through so many scans dealing with burrow. Would it have made sense to make a single raven for detection?
Or just make tanks
For this game specifically, yeah. Hard to think of it in the heat of the moment though.
You need a tech lab on a Starport to do that, which means it's not high on your priority list.
@@Qrzychu92 You know what. I thought a techlab was required for libs. So I thought he had one when I saw them.
Always so tough since you tend to need to keep up medivac production, but there definitely is a case for it here. It's usually one of those things where you think burrow won't get so much use, and then in hindsight you're like... "GODDAMN i should have built a raven after the first sign of burrow!"

No, it's so damn foundimental for zerg. You can use Burrow even before the zergling. Every strategy's based on it.

Yes, burrow has been underutilized from the very start of SC2, mainly because the design of Zerg taxes so much APM to just have stuff in the first place, leaving less for tricky activity.

Burrow is God tier against Terran, bad vs protoss and medicore vs zerg
Burrowed roach harass is so underused and underrated. If zerg just sends 5 burrowed roaches to the main and natural, they can tunnel beneath the unit in the wall and it forces so much multitasking out of the opponent. I could even think going for ling bane instead of roaches might work out because the burrowed roaches might pay for themselves with their harass success.
Terran was so bad. What rank is this?
PiG said Stephen is about ~5k, so the terran would be around the same mmr, or at least around 4.6k.
Stephen, much like other creative players drags his enemies into murky waters and makes them play WAY below their skill level. You always think you'll hold up better in these situations but I'll admit I look about -1000MMR when I vs him
