You know he’s good when a punter declares a year early. #GoHawks!
*A Guy*
Maybe Texas just sucked ass
but that onside kick lost y’all a playoff game
i want to see a drop kick field goal this season
Are you allowed to take the ball off the ground and kick it after the snap ?
That would be a punt threw the goalposts ..
Is there even enough time to get rdy for the dropkick, i guess it will be easier to block too
Holder has to drop it. Illegal otherwise
@BrandonTS95 Not true. Ask Doug Flutie.
@@TerrisLP Wrong. Doug Flutie drop kicked an extra point in his last NFL game some years ago. There wasn't a holder in the formation. Flutie was lined up alone behind the long snapper. What the rule requires is that the ball be kicked from the ground. The kicker drops it to the ground and kicks it on the bounce - rule satisfied.
It's done in rugby union all the time. (Rugby was not Dickson's game. He played Aussie Rules, an entirely different game.) In fact, under the current rugby laws (Rugby has 'laws', not rules.), the kickoff must be by drop kick.
It's rare in American football because the ball is so much more pointed than a rugby or Aussie rules ball, causing a more erratic, unpredictable bounce.
Bill Hahn that’s what I meant sorry. Considering he’s the holder lol
People made fun of Seattle for taking a punter in the fifth round look at him now
No one really made fun of them. Most knew how great he was at Texas.
@@Isaac-od4rm Denver did
the took shane lechler in the rd
Yeah, look at him now 😂😂 this guy can’t even kick a field goal.
As s cowboys fan I'm glad you guys did
Best punter in the league. Dickson>Hekker #GoHawks
Shortest SB Champion QB this didn’t age well
@@chrism2004 all pro his rookie year. It definately aged well
Nice one
We 12's know how Lucky we are to have # 4 Michael Dickson on the Seahawks. We Love him and it's exciting watching him make any of his Amazing Kicks. Go Hawks !
His on side kicks are amazing huh
When he makes a tackle you’ll see the Aussie rules In him
Sorry, but I can't agree. There are collisions in Aussie rules when 2 players go for the ball in the air. But, by and large, there aren't the full tilt, auto collision tackles that there are in rugby or gridiron football. The physicality goes more to pushing and shoving and grabbing. Not to mention the fact that at 208, Dickson is smaller than most NFL quarterbacks, and they slide, rather than take a tackle. I suspect this young man is under coaches' instructions not to try tackling, a la placekickers on kickoffs.
Not taking anything away. With that foot, and that accuracy (Now there's an Aussie rules trait!), he may go down as the greatest punter ever.
@darren knight You should be embarrassed. I have seen many Aussie rules games, in addition to playing rugby union and Canadian football and refereeing the former for 10 years. You're 'obviously' not an engineer or physicist. Accelerometers on helmets have been used to measure decelerations of the head in excess of 100G's in the college game in the U.S.. As I said previously, those are numbers that can be compared to auto accidents. Not to mention the fact that some of the guys in the NFL who will block him go well over 300 pounds, half again his body weight. I watched him drop kick kick-offs last night after Seattle's place kicker was injured. Beautiful! But if he tries to go toe to toe in the contact aspects of gridiron football, his will be a short career.
He made a nice pull down tackle in pre season, but I'm not going to be overly patriotic here, one-on-one with a linebacker he would probably be destroyed, that's true.
I seen him trying to get a blocked punt from a linebacker he's no wimp
@@billhahn4113 you were saying he’s hammered someone pretty hard
Let’s go, my Texas punter.
I love him, he’s insanely talented, and I hope he stays in Seattle for a long time.
I hope so too, the way he throws games away 😂😂
JOSE AGUILAR nah
@@seltzerise Yah
Glad he’s a hawk! Hope they sign him to a multi year deal and remains a Seahawk his entire career.
You sure about that 😂😂😂
JOSE AGUILAR Yes I am. He’s one of the best in the league
@@InsertNameHere0369 I hope so too 😂
He is awesome
Sad Jon Ryan is gone but very glad we have Dickson
I'm sure he's got some tackling ability to. Doesn't seem scarred to make a tackle if needed!
I noticed he spends too much time watching his kick in the air though. He should get moving downfield instead of wasting time. I'd love to see him getting in on some tackles to solidify the reputation he already seems to have as great value.
@@1201Filmz if you watch punters they never cover their own kicks. They have to follow through and by the time they could cover the kick (3 seconds) the returner is already running back. Watch punters vids. They always hang back as the last line of defense since the ball is already being returned by the time they're even able to start running.
Aussie Rules footy is an unpadded contact sports. Something tells me Dickson isn't afraid to put a hard bump on a returner.
Australian rules football player so he relishes tackling. We are taught it from a young age.
@@omegaman6193 Yeah for the most part, you're right that they rarely cover their own kicks, but they should. You can't tell me you've never seen a punter make a tackle, even more upfield than other players that have been blocked. It happens when the punters have more guts or aren't lazy. As he is Australian who has played Aussie Rules, I find him to be somewhat disappointing in that department.
HE MESSED IT UP IN THE WILD CARD
Drop kicking an American football is hard enough as is. Trying to do an onside kick is just rediculous.
@Ricky May Get well soon its easier with a rugby ball than a American football due to shape of ball
He is really handsome! So glad that we got him. He is very well spoken and looks very focused out on the field too!!!
So proud of our Aussie Punter #Aussie12andproudofit
It showed Jon Ryan on Madden lol
Love him !
I'm a longhorns fan and I miss dickson so much
It blows my mind that the interviewer fails to mention how important kicking is in Aussie rule football, and how that might have played a part in the story.
I am a Broncos fan but I love this guy
DARE I SAY IT... GOAT
# 4 is SOMETHING special. Go hawks
💚💚💚💚💚💙💙💙💙💙💙
the man the legend michael dickson's
That 10 yd punt tho 👌
Subonic DTA lmao
Now everyones gonna go to the down under to find a punter!
they have been steelers seahawks jets eagles all have Australian punters plus 15 percent all the punters in College football are Australian
In the '90's the Steelers had an Australian punter and I told all my mates in the US that in 20 years there would only be Australian punters because of the kicking nature of Aussie Rules. Looks like I am out by 10-20 years but I might still be right!
Pro and college have been doing that for several years actually.
These comments are really funny after watching him sunday😂😂 best onside kicker in the game
GO HAWKS
I wanna see some trick plays with tricky dicky
Seahawks are always finding diamonds in the rough..
Hook em and go hawks!
Mate if you even see him hold it with two hands, run up and kick it straight. He’s just done a drop punt
"I'm still learning rules every day"
Kicks punt returners head off
So would you just drop kick the whole game if you could? Take the 3 each possession? Or play the field 🍇
It's not complicated...just kick the footy
what the rules on a drop kick attempt on fiekd goal, where does the line re start on a miss attempt
Probably the initial line of scrimmage.
2:50 He was drafted earlier in the draft then Richard Sherman
Not the same draft. That 2013 class was stupid deep.
0:55 The Seahawks should do that in practice with the defense running at him
If only he could kick a onside kick 😂
Zee3P0 😂😂😂
As a Seahawks fan that hurt lol
@@wilsonmyers926 As a Cowboys fan I'm glad it did 😁
@@justahamlinfan facts lol
Go hawks
Drop kicking a kickoff , should get enough hang time returners have to fair catch inside the 10!
Kinda funny this appears after he fucked up the onside lol
I love you #wedemboys
I have him on madden!
Kick it!!!
Go horns
LOL thank you #cowboysnation
Not his fault, our kicker was hurt
first playoff win in 4 years😂😂
Only Seahawk that is sober. Good Job.
You played soccer and you can’t kick a field goal??
2 and a half months later makes pro bowl
Too talented
He’s still finding new rules lmao
😪😪😭the longhorns lost him
I’m a rugby player
Hekker>
0:47 that's a punt not a drop kick a drop kick has to hit the ground
Perhaps one day Dicko will exhibit the aussie rules skill of evading a tackler by showing some "ball candy", sidestep and then kick. High risk, granted. But the most beautiful moments come from pulling off risky, unorthodox plays.
haha you pretty much predicted the double punt!
Late but.... Up the doggies
I want to get a hello from every nfl fan in the leage lets begin. Hello From a Broncos fan
Yay thx!
Hello from a Seahawks fan
@@dalinholje1777 yoi boi
Lol he is so bad at onside kicks tho cowboys beat the Seahawks
Onside recovery kicks where successful like 21 percent of the time I think. But he'll get better I'm sure.
HOOK EM
He Just lost their playoff game lmao
Mark Z U C C yep
Not his fault that the rest of the game comes down to an onside kick.
Mark Z U C C Lol
This was in my recommended the day after they lost😂
It’s a team sport.
Fail!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Why don't your punter try a drop kick.
im a seahawks fan but he should not of made the pro bowl and chris carson and but we all new dickson had a potentional of making the pro bowl
I hate that guy
He’s a punter who cares
delete
He is a rookie, but he is probably the best in the league already. And he does a lot of drop kicks.
Punting is very important in field positioning especially if the team doesn't have a good offense and the defense bends but don't break
1:12 “Australian rules football”? Why can’t you just say rugby?
Well that would be because he didn't play rugby
Marcus B. Aussie rules is a weird combo of rugby and Gaelic football. Also known as punters paradise.
Completely different game to rugby.
Marcus B. AFL is a completely different game to Rugby, not even close, watch some videos & see for yourself. Even rugby has two different styles as well, Ruby Union & Rugby League.
darren knight I was attempting to explain the game to someone who had no idea of what it was. AFL uses a very similar field to Gaelic football, and a similar set of scoring rules. The tackling and passing, while not the same as rugby, are not completely dissimilar, and give something for an American to picture.
