@@Asher-pb5js I mean, in created media in general (like movies, theatre, and shows too) Or even the Hero's Journey format this is commonly taught in US schools to use for a basis in creating a story based around a character. So often is it normalized that something either happens or happened to the character(s). Then again, so many people go through hardships that having characters who also struggle are all the more relatable to people. Edit: For your point on unrealistic trauma, I think it can be quite interesting! It being unrealistic means that the creator can technically come up with how that trauma changes the character without harming or denying any actual victims of their experiences due to the trauma being so unrealistic that there wouldn't be any irl victims of it.
