@@Starch1b2c3d4a From a Google search of "Mark Samson Matchless" I got this result from 2014: This famous amp designer who started Matchless Amps and then designed Bad Cat Amps now has his own company - Star Amplifiers. I guess he's coming back to Badcat.
Im a big fan of EL84s. They sound so warm and don't get brittle when pushed. I use a Laney Lionhearted or a Vox AC15 depending on the gig. I like being able to have those pushed amp tones that stay musical and don't suck at lower stage volume.
John...So Happy you're back playing your Kline Tele again!! I think it's the Best sounding Guitar you Own!! I know you like your Strat Style Guitars but i'm a die hard fan of a Great sounding Tele!! Please keep up the Good Work! Love your Channel and Content!! Wishing you and your Family a Joyous New Year!! Cheers from Salem, Oh. US.
The amp is interesting for sure but at the price point (and below actually) there are so many awesome amps I doubt I'd pick this one. I had a small collection of hand wired amps including fender, marshall and vox as well as some boutique like cornell etc. I sold most of them. If I was going for a hand made valve amp at this time I think I'd go Emprize or Flynn amps if I wanted a tweed amp.
My Bad cat Cool Cat el34 amp chimes very close to an el84 . I’m a big believer that transformer’s and hand wiring plays a bigger role than tubes when it comes to tone.
Gain low/master high 👍🏼 Try as i might, I never could do the Vox thing. I play a Strat 70% of the time, I've just never found them to be a great match. I'm talking about using it as "the" amp scenario, as opposed to as a pedal platform. Strats are chimy enough all on their own for my taste, it's why when i want a Marshall tone with it I've been going with the Silver Jubilee for a couple decades. The darker nature of the amp just lends itself well to single coils. I do wonder how they would be as pedal platforms though. In general i find Vox to be neutral compared to Fender and Marshall, it's one of the things that's kept me from bonding them. It might be perfect for a platform. … Though shilling out hand wired prices just to use it for a pedal platform seems excessive.
I’ve got the Jet Black and love it! It became my number one.
High praise indeed, cheers fella.
Great tones!
Really agree about Paul Drew. Great guitarist just like you, always something to learn.
I see Mark Samson is coming back to Badcat !! Watch out for NAMM... His work on Matchless is undeniable ...
Who?

Is this the joy that professional musicians play with nowadays? (Man those Beatles in that Cave)........ Well great playing have to say that too
Great demo -- I've been looking at that amp and you gace me a lovely picture of what it can do - thank you 💗

1:11 That happens to me all the time!
Sounds awesome. Love it.
Great playing as always. I have a question, do you typically run the tone knobs on your guitar all the way up or do you roll them off a bit?

Did you find the top hat knob?

Knocked the top hat off your Tele! 🤣
I don't know if I miss that part but how is this for home use if you gig but play at home mostly?
With cleans like that they couldn’t have given it to a better guitarist to review.
