- Ok, bit of a rant/journal entry. Figure it might be nice to look back at my videos and see kinda how I was feeling about my progress in the moment. And others can maybe learn something from my journey as a millennial dude getting more serious about his motorcycle skills in his late 30s. Anyways, thoughts below:
Two of my best laps of the day. Overall happy with the day, though I was feeling like I wasn't at 100%, and could only do a few laps at a time without getting too tired and making mistakes. My arms and back were still super tired from a tough workout two days ago, so I was getting arm pump pretty easily.
Still gotta say that it makes me happy to know that what felt slow was about as fast as my laps from my last day at the track where I left feeling like I was lapping fast. So I think this tells me I've brushed off the cobwebs and am starting to carry more speed more consistently. If what feels slow is what I used to feel was fast, I'm pretty happy with that.
Looking back at footage I think is helping me improve a ton too. I can see where I'm holding back when I really don't need to. I can see where jumps that seem huge in the moment, I'm clearing relatively easily, and I can relax more into them the next time. I can see where I'm carrying pretty solid speed and can feel good about my progress and know that what feels fast on the track actually looks about as fast on footage, which didn't used to be the case. I used to look back and realise that I wasn't actually going as fast as I thought. Seeing the footage catch up to my internal speedometer is a good sign I'm getting more comfy with going fast. Excited to get more consistent practice days leading into and through the fall. Think I'm falling back in love with dirtbiking again after a long haitus.
