    Another big screen worthy post! Outstanding Oregon scenery! Amazed at how much you've really challenged yourself this hiking season. On to Part II trying to catch up after about 10 days in the Cherokee National Forest. Thanks for the vicarious adventure!!

I love the Eagle caps and imnaha area! We catch a lot of steelhead on the lower Imnaha river. Switch back trails all rock and boulders haha ❤❤❤

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Месяц назад +1

      We did this route to hit some of the parts of the wilderness that we had never been to before. I don't want to give it away, but we're not ending where you think we will. 😃

    😂🌧🌈I think we are going to have a nice extended autumn; I personally enjoy the rain; it's soothing for me(my friend Tim is a bit bummed out for the Ice festival, but I think we may still have a wee bit of snow potentially come December/January)

    I live right next to these mountains and there are 2 rules u should NEVER ignore.. Always carry a sidearm u can effectively hit with, and Always hike together. A lone unarmed hiker is an easy target for a motivated predator...

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  24 дня назад +1

      Those are a couple points to keep in mind, but as far as absolutes... no.

    • @brhino1017
      @brhino1017 Месяц назад

      @mountainwanderer Sorry Travis, let me rephrase my question. Do you like your Circuit and how has it performed for you? The backpack your using didn't look like a ULA. Sorry for the confusion. I don't know what a "Wallowas" is?

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Месяц назад

      oh wow... yeah, missed that. The Wallowas are the range that the Eagle Caps are in. I didn't use my ULA Circuit because we were going in for a week and my pack weight would've been over the recommended limit. Whiskey is heavy

    Thanks for sharing. Question about hiking with your dogs. Obviously, they are well trained and well behaved. I’m sure they like being off leash for their hike. However, not everyone likes encounters with dogs on trail. Other hikers with dogs or horses may not want an encounter with unleashed dogs on a narrow steep trail. Wildlife encounters with off leash dogs can be dangerous for either. Is there any regulations or etiquette about dogs off leash?

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Месяц назад +3

      I'm sure the regulations change based on where you are. I don't let my dogs run up on people. Once in a while we might get surprised by hikers and I have to call him back, but when we encounter other people, horses or other pack stock, we always grab our dogs and get off of the trail until they've passed. I've had dogs run up on me and I don't like it either. We purposely pick wilderness areas and less populated areas to go into because we hike with our dogs off of the leash. If it is an area that would require us to leash them, then we probably wouldn't go there.
