I think the original Secret Wars comic book story was invented to try and sell as many action figures as possible, and was basically the craziest “include every hero and villain ever made and make them all do arena battles” type storyline. Like Dr. Strange captures everyone somehow and forces them into some wacky space coliseum system. 😆 If that’s what we’re in for with the Secret Wars movie I’m going to lose my mind, especially because that probably means the fallen heroes would all return for one last mega-cast shebang of a final film. You can’t tell me Robert Downey, Chris Evans, Scarlet Johansen, etc, wouldn’t all return for one massive film with literally everyone in it, including the X-Men crew.
I mean this is why the infinity saga story was the best marvel ever made. It’s honestly never gonna be topped. But secret wars is abt the next best option w kang and dr room. Doing galactus or Mephisto or another apocalypse storyline would be even more dumb. It also allowed for them to bring literally any character they want in even from fox while they can.
