His arrest was a plain case of police overreaction & brutality. Firstly not recognizing he was allowed to be there he was & macing him, then, when he in a rather funny way was explaining to the audience what had happened, those 'little blue men' arrested him onstage, escorted him out of the venue beating & kicking the shit out of him in the process. Along w/him there were 2 more people arrested - journalists who dared to photograph how cops was kicking Jim besides the police car.
They actually arrested him for obscenity as he was finishing his talk to the audience w/the words "... No one loves me, the whole world hates me! The whole fuckin' world hates me!", as Vince Treanor (The Doors roadie) reminisced.
Did you really think this was Val Kilmer? I mean, this is really famous footage of Jim, it's pretty much unmistakable, I don't know how anyone would ever confuse this footage with the one in the movie.
i was in New Haven Jail at the time on Whalley Ave..They took him to Union for his booking but we heard about it over in Whalley Ave..P.S. i was locked up for poss of marajuana.Back then they acrually arrested people for poss..I had what they called a nichol bag..5 dollar bag.Called China red.
No that was the real deal.I remember that video being newsworthy on the day.Saw Jim and the Doors in July of 68'.Great show but there is no question that the man was a young, drunken boor.He displayed it onstage and it eventually cost him his life.No need to Lionize the afflicted for it is but the grace of God that most of us in the day didn't suffer the same outcome.
@highschoolmusical841 yes,but it was the English music underground scene that allowed Jimi to expand his talent,I know he was American, in the army band, played in a jazz band after and only when open minds in the UK started digging Jimi did his rise to being a ledgend start. England allowed him to flower or he qwould not be the Ledgend he was murdered for;) i agree with you .Peace,
I think that's somewhat of an over-simplification, but there has been a more and more noticeable polarization of the parties in the recent years. I'm a Democrat because I feel most Republican views are hindering on others' civil librerties (right to marriage, freedom of choice (reproductive-wise), freedom of speech) The only one they seem to care about is the right to bear arms, which Im not against per se, but the people who want guns seem to be clowns who dont know not to let kids get to them
Nope, they have apologized after they'd maced him backstage. Everybody was laughing & having beer, but Jim didn't say a word, just grinning. Later that evening they arrested him onstage, when he told the audience what had happened backstage. As they escorting him out of the venue & to the police car the cops beat & kick the shit out of him.
alright hang on a second. i got the feeling that you thought i was some republican judging you for bein a hippie. not at all. look up libertarianism and you will see how a people are supposed to live. btw john lennon may not be your best example of a hard worker when he is one of those people that essentially sits on their ass and collect bank.
Damn that was 50 years ago yesterday, and we're still talking about it. What a legend.
I love his facial expressions and the way he throws up his hands like, "Aww, shucks guys, really?"
It wasn't like he was harming anybody! This was an artistic performance.
