Competent comparison and fair conclusion all appreciated. All your points are valid. I recently purchased the Viltrox lens and am debating with myself if it really makes me happy. Coming from the S lenses that softness is in your face. But then again, I do appreciate its compact form factor and, naturally, price point. Horses for courses.
Viltrox has their direct competitor which is a 20, 1.8 as well. This 2.8 version is actually all on it's own. Currently Nikon only offers a small 26, 2.8 plastic, fantastic.
Please make the comparison with these two copies after using them for 5 years. If Viltrox survives it will be a cause of concern for Nikon regarding their lens market.
Nikon lenses tend to have poorer color rendering because the camera tries to correct something that I don't think is actually an issue with the lens itself. I've used vintage lenses, and the colors are very different too. Of course, you can post-process the images, but it's still something of a limitation with Nikon
@theCameraVille and I noticed only it happens outdoor during sunny days. The blue sky and green foliage look weird. But Nikon indoor and shady days are perfectly fine and look good.
don't get me wrong I love using my Nikon. It works fine most of time. I just hate the colors when is bright outdoors, of cause I edit afterwards. and it happens to all the Z cameras I use.

Yup! I really love the sharp center on the viltrox. It is my go to for traveling. If I was a wedding /event photographer, I’d get the Nikon for sure.

Yup you are correct . In this video, I wanted to show 2 extreme difference in lens price and the quality difference it brings.

That’s quite interesting you also mention this. I need to dig more.

Sounds like an anomaly with your gear. Certainly not typical for Nikon broadly speaking.
