  • Kickass US power metal from Ohio, a hidden gem marking the debut of Tim "Ripper" Owens, who later went on to achieve fame as a singer for Judas Priest and Iced Earth. Track 1 of "Heart of a Killer"(1993). Heart of a Killer is a partial concept album, with the first six songs detailing the story of judge Cohagen who sentences a murderer to death, and soon afterwards has his heart replaced with the killer's in a transplant operation.
    Lyrics:
    On the hour of execution
a spiteful soul, awaits his death
sobbing, he tries to tell them, that he wasn't there
Psycho how does it feel - Just think you're about to die
for the murders that you've committed
The final judgement has been made
Eight families will see their justice done
Tears : From his pale blue eyes
Can't : Mask the hatred inside
His fear : Will not subside
To death : He will succumb
Psycho now it's time to go - just think you're gonna die
    We haven't received the call
    we haven't heard nothing yet
the priest is here to give you your last rites
The wages of sin is death (my son)
    you've gambled on your life
I know it's hard to see (my son)
The light that shows the way
It's the killer that's kicking and screaming
I don't want to die (no-no), judge Cohegan
    I'll haunt you from hell
I'll get you, I swear by my last words
The wages of sin is death (my son)
    you've gambled on your life
I know it's hard to see (my son)
The light that shows the way.

Tim Ripper Owens - The most underrated metal singer.
He sang for famous bands, made a good career but still doesn't get recognition he truly deserves

Ripper is literally in my Top 3 Greatest Metal Vocalists Of All Time List! Fact.
People are just ignorant fools. They throw shade at him because he was the Vokills to step in and take the Helm after Halford left JP. He is in Metals Top 3 Best Vocalist list in my eyes. He is the epitome of what a SINGER is.

I am curious and would like to know if someone could please explain the story of this album. I've been curious about it and would like to know more about the plot of the concept.

The Album: Heart of a Killer.. The Concept: A Judge gets more than he bargains for..
Starts out where Judge Cohagen has a murderer brought into his court room. Eventually, Judge hands down a death sentence. The Killer swears his revenge on the Judge, causing Judge to have a heart attack.
      J. Cohagen is rushed to hospital for an emergency heart transplant.
Cohagen is 6 months into having new heart. Being constantly plagued by constant nightmares and weird visions, Spirit of Dead Killer attempts to take control of his mind.
Judge Cohagen, in rapidly declining health, enters one Final Battle with the Killers Spirit, for control of Cohagen's body and soul.

@@JudasSlays2426 now that is epic. I remember reading up on this album and I think it was going to be a sequel to it or another Winter band album with Rippon vocals but I don’t think it ever materialized. Man that would be so cool. Didn’t Winter break up eventually?

@@blindmetalgamer Yes. So, after this album here, Ripper Owens is called by none other than Glenn Tipton from Judas Priest.
Upon agreement to come and join Judas Priest, Winter's Bane was losing Ripper Owens. As far as I know, Ripper did say they had a sequel or follow up album in the plans.
I do know, Alexander Koch (From Germany. Vocals in Spiral Tower and Powergod) was the next vocalist for Winter's Bane. They complete the next album Redivivus. I've heard it several times. Some people say they like this album better than Ripper's Heart Of A Killer, some say they don't.
My reaction: Pretty solid album, considering the facts of Ripper leaving for Priest. However, this album is NOT better than H.O.A.K. It's a good album though.
Alexander Koch had full intentions of doing vocals for at least one more W.B. album. Apparently, Koch has extensive troubles getting back over to USA to record the vocals for the next album. Koch only does 1 album with W.B.
Next album is called Girth. I haven't honestly listened to this entire album. I put it on and let it play and I just don't care for it. However I do need to give it a full on listen at some point.
