Thanks marty. I'm really starting to getting into a lot country music lately . Mainly because of ken burns country music documentary Chris kristofferson was a boxer , hellercopter pilot.. excepted to west point.. turned his back on it all to be janitor at a recording in nashville. Family wrote him a letter don't come home.. showed the letter to jonny cash.. cash said Thair s your song. What guts ....thanks for the music always ....
i love you sooo much. you are the best source i have ever come across. been playing 50 years plus your videos have brought so much joy to me and my family. I sit down with my daughter and we learn together. best daughter time ever. Just wanted you to know that your impact is real. You are making a difference in this world.
Thank you so much for your kind words Chris. So happy to hear you and your daughter are spending quality time together. Hearing that warms my heart. My most precious gifts are my children and my fave thing is being with them anytime I can. Take care, thanx for the support and the lovely note. Keep on strumming my friend!!
I'm basically new to your Chanel and I am a fan, I subscribe to your Chanel, I've noticed that you give great lessons. I'm an old guy that has forgotten alot of the music I used to play in my youth. You brought back the music. Thanks you!!!!
Need this classic for my, party repertoire . I'm having to put in a fair amount of time to memorise this progression , quite a few parts to it. For some reason I find the A part easier to get right. Good lesson Marty
Great song, just love Joplin’s classic rendition of it ... that song literally made Janis !! RIP darlin, we loved you then and we still love you today. I still get choked up thinking about her senseless and untimely passing, she loved life and she loved to party and make those around her happy ... a free spirit that let the fast life overtake her 😢😞😭
I spotted this some time ago, but I'm back to see if I can get a handle on this wonderful tune. Sitting on the opening chord for such a long time, and keeping it sounding interesting always worried me. But Marty makes it look easy. Next up, Country Roads. There's no stopping me now. Admittedly, at 61 years old I've obviously left it a bit late. But who dares wins! Cheers
just try to make the strumming a bit more exciting if u have to stay on 1 chord. also embellishments, like with this you can hammer on the 1st fret of the b string when you play the G chord
That’s great your back. Good luck with it!! Love that you are playing at your age. You are never to old to learn to have fun!! Keep up the great work!!
Hey PartyMarty, your the best man, for someone who's lazy learning new songs and playing the guitar for over 40 years, I'm grateful for someone who doesn't cut corners and adds the fill in so it sounds good straight away. Thanks mate from Australia.
Love all your videos, I've learnt so much. Thank you and please keep them coming.I totally agree with the comment that you could write a music book with these tutorials in it. I would definitely buy it.
Thank you for the great instruction. I checked out a video of Kris Kristoffherson playing this. His version, was a simple 3 chord A E & D. That's it. I like your version much better, and will stick with the Party Marty version.
Thank you sir. Subscribed and glad I found you on YT. This is one of my favorite songs. Eight months into learning guitar and never imagined I would one day play my favorites like this, Bob Seger, etc. Your videos help.

I follow you and have learned quite a bit from your style of teaching. Could you do a short video and show the intro close up??

I don't charge for house parties most times, I usually play at a house party where I am invited, it is kind of expected over the years but I don't charge so I can play when I want and not play when i want. That is a beautiful Gibson... what model is it?
It's a2005 Gibson songwriter Deluxe, and she's my fave
How are you playing that A chord? Thanks for these videos!
2 fingers on 3 strings. I find it easier as my fingers are too big to fit 3 fingers in 1 fret. Hope this helps
can you teach ..how to play Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace

Garry Jones hell yeah
So how exactly is the strumming pattern on this song ??
It's a basic country style strum that goes like this d dududu d dududu d dududu d dududu all they way through the tune. Keep in mind that you can make the strum your own a little, this is just the way I do it. Thanx for tuning in, good luck
Wow, such enthusiasm. Cheer up, dude. Thanks for the lesson, tho.
You are ok
At 1:58 it's open 5th string not 2nd.
Dude your singing the Janis Joplin version Bobby was a her in Kris’s version of course
on the g to c run i can hear 5 notes.?
I don't think so??? maybe G, then 3 notes and C?? Dunno?? Sorry
Oh ok
what do you charge for a house party? I charge $100.00 + food and drinks. I think that is more than fair. Mick-E-B
I don't charge for house parties most times, I usually play at a house party where I am invited, it is kind of expected over the years but I don't charge so I can play when I want and not play when i want. No fee, no obligation. But If I played a regular show my fee would start per hour at what you are asking. Thanx for tuning in
You wanna job playing the guitar for me
So you play like Kristofferson, but use the Joplin lyrics. ‘Cause when Kris sang , it was Bobbi McGee.
Not mentioning Gordon Lightfoot when talking about this song is just wrong.
Nice, though as for the styling I would say you are much more Joplin than Kristofferson.
Thanx, To be a tiny little bit of either one works for me!! Thanx for tuning in and good luck to you
