Wow! What a beautiful machine! Those steam toys are so cool, that would be fun with some sort of RC. Then you could sit on the patio and drive it all over the back yard. Thanks Dave and Terry for this fun video!
Wilesco used to do a radio control module for steering the traction engine, it was not a pretty installation. I fire all my steam engines with gas conversions by Bix.
@@donaldasayers My friend Dave has a gas conversion. My stationary Wilesco and Mamod I fire with meths burners. I was amazed how well sterno worked in this engine. I remember those RC conversions. Good for the day I suppose.
The wilesco engines are double acting, which effectively makes them twice as powerful as the mamods , but they do use twice as much steam, hence the need for refuelling. Gas conversions work well as do remote reservoir meths burners. The lights on the showmans wagon were meant for illumination at the fairground, not for driving along , and you'll find the wee generator takes a surprisingly large amount of force to drive it , I was surprised to see her moving with the lights on 😊 Enjoy my friends 🥰
@@associatedblacksheepandmisfits thanks John! Yeah, I figured it probably didn’t run along with lights, But I do like that. ☺️ i was surprised at how powerful it was!! The Sterno gel lasted quite a while. Much longer than the fuel tablets. If I don’t include a gas burner I will be able to have Wihann the driver in that area! ☺️
@@northernutahlivesteam hi Karl. Wilesco is fancier than Mamod. Geared drives and realistic steering cables. And generally a bit more robust. But you pay for it. Mamod’s are still amazing.
Someone did make updated lighting rails for these on ebay. Full rail of LEDs. I fitted the multi coloured version. So much more impressive than the factory fit ones. I dont think they do them now thought.
Just use water to clean the Sterno from the fuel tray. Then wipe it with paper towels. Sterno is a little pricey compared to denatured alcohol but much safer and easier to use
@@Jasper_4444 I literally have no idea. The maker doesn’t state it. I would guess something like 1/18. They are not exact scale models so difficult to tell.

Fun traction engine. Had some Mamods as a kid. Always had the idea Wilesco was a bit fancier. But never saw one in person, so I don’t really know.
