  • This video is on the basics of my fish room. This incarnation has been up and running since 2008. If you have any questions on things I didn’t cover feel free to ask it in the comments section. Thank you all for subscribing and watching my videos and putting up with my ramblings.
    I should mention that I do not have gravel or substrate in the tanks, (except for 1), because I don't want any of it getting down the drain in the sink where I empty the buckets. No other reason, various substrates look great.

    Beautiful fish room. I'm disabled and unable to work so we just bought a house with a 24x36 detached garage that I'm tuning into a proper fish room. Very expensive and time consuming. Over head air system with a Jehmco Linear Piston Pump and currently working on a automatic drip system. I got everything from Jehmco and did it probably. I have been binge watching all your videos. Liked and got your jokes but then again I have a dry sense of humor. I want to do a guppy rack in my den but am limited to a 36 inch space. This is enough for 4 5.5 gallon tanks and 3 10s. Or 8 4.5. Can you get by with just 5.5 for breeding? If you were to start off line breeding just one or two types what would be the tanks you would recommend ie 2 5.5s and 2 10s?

    • @DGrey
      @DGrey  5 лет назад

      Thanks for watching and putting up with my jokes! I use 10's for grow out tanks and also if I have more than 2 breeding trios. Other wise I use the 2 and a 1/2's for my crosses. The reasoning behind that is the males have less space to chase the females. I use the 5 and a 1/2's for a few pair of breeders if all goes well.

      Sorry that you are having losses. Are they pet store guppies? If they are, then that is most likely the cause of the problem. No knock on pet stores but they mostly get their fish from wholesalers and those fish can have residual diseases hanging around in multiple stages. In other words they could look healthy but be an internal mess. Maybe there is a pet store near you that buys fish from local breeders and those fish would be used to the water conditions that you have and likely do better.
