Multi-cultural Malaysia! There are so many public holidays. 😃 I'm glad you got to spend Chinese New Year (and more) in Malaysia as I think it's one of the best places to experience it in traditional fashion. From the looks of it, I think there's more happening there in Penang than in Hong Kong for CNY. Dang, the Kek Lok Si temple really looks incredible with all those lights! Btw, like many superstitions in Chinese culture (especially Chinese New Year) the oranges (actually tangerines) are 'prosperous' as the Chinese word for them also sounds like gold, and I guess they also kind of look the right colour-ish for gold nuggets. 🍊
Wow, they know how to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Penang! The lights were incredible, so beautiful! Didn't know you guys stayed in Penang for a while. How long were you there for? The lion dances are always so impressive, I'm surprised every year when I see them at my school. I was in Beijing during Chinese New Year.
When 12am strikes on Chinese New Year, just stand outside ur balcony and enjoy. The whole Penang island would be lit up with fireworks. Fun fact, on the 9th day of Chinese New Year, there would be even more fireworks/firecrackers because of the hokkien culture in Penang.
Excellent! Love the count down! The Grand Wooden Temple is fabulous! The pink floral park was lovely! Wow, the lights! I love the lighted plant creations. Lights everywhere you look.
Wow, it's amazing how many lights they use for the Lunar New Year! I'd love to take part in the celebrations and see all those red decorations. The displays in the malls are unbelievable!
There will be lots of activity on eve, 1st, 8th and 15th which is the last day of CNY. Next year will fall in mid Feb. Start to plan for your next holiday. March can do amazing beautiful island activity from beaches to diving, snorkelling, etc.
Wow! What an amazing experience! The lights and colors are just so vibrant and festive especially at the Kek lok si temple! Your b-roll and narration is spot on! This video should be on the Travel Channel! Very informative! Anyway looking forward to more Penang videos!
Amazing way to celebrate the New Years! Definitely something I will need to do. I'm with you the lights at the end were the best part. Disneyland what???Great find, Cheers!!!
I'm actually on my way to Penang today! So I'm genuinely interested in watching this vlog!! Always love your work on cinematography - those colorful lights are very inviting! And yes, those shots are all very red LOL Will you still be around for the 1-2 Feb celebrations related to the CNY? There will be hot air balloon.
Can you see Penang from Space when they celebrate Chinese New Year? 🤣 Amazing traditions, I wish to be part of proper Chinese New Year at least once in the lifetime! And your video is a good starting point.
Can not believe oversea chinese have more authentic SF festival celebrations than the mainland China, Mainland China BAN playing fireworks and firewords! because scare of catching fires... temple fairs are gone as well...
There no more temples in China, there RUclips videos about many of temples in China got demolished by their own Government... IDK why they want to destroy their owned history and legacy of thousands of years...
I was thinking the same thing. I've been in China or Taiwan for a number of Lunar New Years and none of them were as fun and exciting as what this video depicted. I think the Chinese in China rushed to modernize and destroyed themselves in the process...or at least so much of their tradition.
@@wankhairulwanali9485 Playing fireworks actually pollutes the air, some Malays and Indians did criticizes Chinese for that. Ethnic tension is real in Malaysia.
lol about the Man U shirt comment. Glory days are gone. I stop watching football after Ryan Giggs retired :( Sucks to hear that you were sick and cannot go out at night. Hope you recovered well. As always great footage, your film making is so on point and it separates you from the other group members.
@@OneShotAdventures I mean you can find it RM3.5 at Georgetown and delicious than tourist place 😂. But most of the tourist won't know that place, only Penangnite know 😂. We like how you did the build up to the actual New Year--I need to learn more of your story-telling ways! 😎 April loves the color red, so she'd be enthralled to see this in person. We hope the oranges we have been eating this week will bring us good fortune, LOL. The drummers and dragons are almost like an Asian sort of Christmas carolers! 😄 Was it that dish you tried (Idk how to spell it) that you made you ill? Great camera work indeed, Emma! WOOOWWW...the temple with all the lights seems incredible!
Very amazing shots and overall video man. I admire your work. But if I were to point out smth that u didn't like about it then it'd be the kinda overdramatic tone 😂 every sentence you say sounds like you're announcing some breaking news
Mate I'm stuck in Australia and I miss Malaysia very much. Great video you have there.

On the earlier part of the clip, those are mandarin oranges (ok its part of orange family) but it has to be mandarin oranges and not others.
