Feyenoord doesn't revolve around him, but their wingers and midfielders know how to attack and how to pass the ball. When they beat Shaktar 7-1, Gimenez only scored once. In Mexico with midfielders like Romo or Herrera, Gimenes never gets the ball in the box. Antuna and Lozano dont know how to pass the ball, it is a shame.

Mexico can’t get the ball to their forwards it was Raul Jimenez before, now it’s Santi. Funes Mori never stood a chance. Henry is in the mix too. Chicharito worked because he was a poacher and a 1-2 touch player. Mexico cannot make it work it’s a fact.
The main reason Chicharito worked was because Mexico had Herrera and Guardado in their best form as box to box midfielders,. Any striker during those years scored, remember Oribe Peralta was a scoring machine as well. When you play with 3 midfielders, the 8 and the 10 need to be truly box to box midfielders. The Guardado and Herrera from 2012 to 2016 were the best Mexico has had in the last 15 years.
Better coach better teammates
Feyenoord is an oiled machine, cause of Arne Slot being a tactical genius. Van Persie is a great striker coach who trains Gimenez to fit exactly in this Feyenoord team.
Well for one he only starts half the time. How is he supposed to build any chemistry with his teammates when they got raul or Henry trading starts with him.
i believe that Santi is more comfortable with his Club more than the International team... the chemistry is different when they all come together they all have different techniques and play styles...Santi has a good chance to nake a name of his name with or without the international team

It’s the midfield. Mexico doesn’t have players like feeyenord in the midfield. He also doesn’t play as much in Mexico he’s not even a starter.
Different players, different system, he’s only had 3-4 starts since joining Feyenoord and simply he hasn’t had the opportunities. Yes he had struggled with some shots and some penalty’s but the more he starts the more goals his skill will show.

Every striker is a poacher. Santi is far from just a poacher though. U gotta watch his games. Has decent pace, can dribble well for a striker, can retain the ball because of his physicality, and has a good shot/header.
