    I happened upon your "color class" and have watched so many of your videos now. I'm not sure if its because I love the color theory or because of your Mother -daughter relationship! It is such a beautiful picture of wisdom and knowledge (Lucinda) and youthful energy and knowledge (Sarah). All in all you both are a great team and a joy to watch and learn from. Thank you for your efforts and generosity.

    I thought for so long my skin was neutral warm, and I gravitated toward fall colors. I thought my dark hair was on the warmer side, and my brown eyes were slightly warm, but I looked ill in mustard, in yellows, and especially in orange (peach). I have yellow in my skin, but the color that cancels that, and makes my skin look healthy and my everything shine is navy. I was surprised when I first tried that dark cool blue, because I thought I was warm. I have most of my colors on the warmer side, even the blues and greens, but I always felt lost and I tried to change my color so often, to make my face reapear :)))) . I decided to try to "drape" myself with all the colored clothes I had, plus my mom's. When I put a dark purple, I discovered the second best color I have ever seen on my face, which I have never worn. Is amazing how bad advices that we follow can create so much trouble. Thank you for your work and for the good information !🥰

    • @TheBaumcm
      @TheBaumcm 8 месяцев назад +3

      I had exactly the same experience! Was actually typed as an autumn leaning neutral but looked awful in those colors (also had difficulty with the brights). Was doing draping with every item of clothing I had on hand. Since a camera’s white balance works similar to our eye, it really highlights the changes you should see and when I was scrolling through the photos and saw me in navy, royal purple and black, I knew I had been mistyped. I find we also tend to lean towards colors that are our best if not influenced by trends.

    • @Steph_Renee_RN
      @Steph_Renee_RN 6 месяцев назад +1

      Same experience here! Typed as dark Autumn but I look sick and too reddish in the face with those colors. The dark cooler colors look best on me. I think it’s because I have a fair olive complexion with warmer leaning eyes but very bright blue veins and dark ashy brown hair. I love both navy, magenta and yes to true white. Anything yellow is a big no! It’s confusing!!

      @@Steph_Renee_RN oh wow, your comment has helped me so much!!! 😆
      i’ve been so confused.. every time i think i get close to figuring it out i learn something new & re-evaluate lol. always thought i was NW, but wondered why i never got a perfect match w/ foundation, but in the past i have also been told i have cool qualities as well.
      i just found out recently that i’m a fair olive. i have like yellowish peachy gray tones, so hard to explain. i have honey brown eyes w/ a dark ring around the outer & a medium burst 💥 in the center. and like medium to dark ash brown hair (like level 5)
      i have blue, bluish green & purple veins
      i’ve been put into the deep autumn season with AI (which i know can be inaccurate) and i just don’t feel like it fully fits. and many colors in soft autumn are too matchy to my skin tone. i’ve also been grouped into deep winter.
      i have watched a few videos recently that say olives look good in cool colors, which makes sense. but i’m so lost personally lol 😅

      i relate to this so much! it’s funny bc i have a lot of army greens, neural browns etc. in my wardrobe. my favorite color is yellow, but not on me 😆. and i love sunflowers.
      i’ve rarely ever reached for navy. but i’ve been noticing that it’s actually a very nice color that i should try. and now i’m definitely going to drape myself and explore! i always thought i was NW as well. but i’m fair olive & i feel like if i wasn’t olive i’d be an autumn. but something about my skin tone doesn’t quite work with it
      (i even have that sunflower yellow scrunchie in my hair in my PFP. i just love it so much 😫🤣)

    I'm a spring going grey... I don't know what to wear... I'm in that phase, were I'm starting to have mousy hair on top and golden hair in the bottom. I ave also hazel eyes... So its confusing to me. It would be terrific if you could adress season by season the best colours and makeup for us transiting into age! That said, I adore your videos! They're so informative, funny and great to watch

    • @MaryYoungblood-xy8vg
      @MaryYoungblood-xy8vg 8 месяцев назад +1

      Mousy would suggest summer. I would suggest a "light" palette of pastel colors (shared between spring and summer) while in transition. Once all the way gray, switch to summer.

    • @Carrie-sgda
      @Carrie-sgda 8 месяцев назад +1

      If you are a spring , you will always look best in warm colours. Your contrast level is decreasing so you may feel better in the lighter colours of your spring palette. If your bright spring you may prefer colours that are less bright such as light spring and true autumn colours when you have fully gone grey . Hope this helps x

    • @MaryYoungblood-xy8vg
      @MaryYoungblood-xy8vg 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Carrie-sgda actually not all springs gray warm. Some do, and stay spring (light palette) and some have cool gray or white hair come in. They have to move to cooler palettes when their hair comes in. The system CMB uses is different and believes that hair is your #1 not skin and your color does change over time. It differs from others who go with skin undertones and say those never change over time.

I have been interested in 'color' and what are the best colors to wear forever. Had my first analysis done in the 1970's by Color Me Beautiful - I'm a winter. Then I had dark brown hair, brown eyes, cool skin. Today... white hair - no other color in it (so I have been told by a variety of beauticians. I still wear all the winter colors - but now I seem to be able to wear some of the softer summer colors and some of the vibrant spring colors - No autumn.

    Im a true/cool winter. White hair, light skin. No warmth at all. In "colour me younger" book it suggested older women should choose softer colours. The lilacs, soft pink, nothing vivid. So what is right for mature winters? Personally I love magenta and aubergine but are my colour choices wearing me now instead of other way round?

    • @Karen-DeMars
      @Karen-DeMars 4 месяца назад

      Suggestions from a stranger: Wear what you love, of course, but a good way to enjoy bolder, deeper colors without feeling they’ll age you could be to wear them as accents, or further from your face (e.g., aubergine coat with a white scarf around your neck; mixed color blouse where lilac dominates magenta in the design; smart black pantsuit with magenta shoes and purse …). Hope those ideas offer some help! ☺️

    I was typed as an Autumn by a CMB consultant when I was in my 20s, going through the early 00’s with that fake tan and brassy blonde highlights lol. The Autumn palette makes me look blah and yellows make me look ill! My closet looks mostly Winter with lots of true whites, jewel tones and navy. I have tried to find Autumn colors to work for me but they only look good in my eyeshadow because I have green hazel eyes. Foundation always must be neutral though! I can wear gold but prefer silver. I never tan. Love high contrast! I think it’s my fair olive skin confusing things! Do you have videos on olive skin tones? Also, do you offer color analysis services?

    Before I knew I was an autumn I had a lot of navy shirts in my closet and also a lot of medium blue shirts. I always preferred warmer colours but I think I was matching my eyes to those shirts. Without directly comparing different colours of different undertones it's easy to assume certain colours suit you. With the shirts I mentioned, the value (of the colour) was right because I'm medium value but not the undertone!

    I was given Winter/ " cool autumn" by a BeautiControl representative in 1988. Since then, some melanin isn't there. It seems seems that now at age 57 I'm in no man's land between winter and Summer. I can still wear bright silver clothes, and have a bright fuchsia, and a mauve,/ plum sweater dress that I get compliments on when I wear it. However, I can't wear my natural hair color as it was before I went grey/ silver as it's too stark now, even with full makeup. I've gone lighter to a dark blonde in my hair with a sprinkling of highlights that constantly need toner to prevent brassiness. Is there such a category as summer/ wintet

    Sarah’s cracking up knowing off camera Lucinda would be roasssstting brown on a Clear Winter. LOL. 😅 Lucinda you really were trying so gracefully to uhm lift up the brown lol.
    A few questions: Can gray eyes be clear? I am thinking my dominant trait is clear. I see some palettes online and there are some of those baby colors in Bright Winter palettes. Why is that? My eyes being clear and skin is first thing people would say about me running from a crime. My eyes and deep hair against porcelain skin skin are my best traits. Is that why some of those colors look like butt on me, because they are summer and I’m arguably Clear with shark eyes bright and piercing but deep colored hair and very pale. Are pale shades like in Sci Art or TCI not ideally supposed to be in there? Or how do you know a color is for a Winter that is one of the paler lighter shades? My fb group often tries to say if you’re a Winter you might as well not look good without makeup and can only wear lipsticks super bright and not like a balm.. same for true winters. How do you tell winter from summer light shades and wear those well?? Sorry for a million questions lol. I also want to wear yellow but have no idea how I think I’m def a clear winter though… or orange Persimmon is in Kettlewell colors bright winter palette. I got Zyla colors made up and my romantic color is orange. I assume yellow is similar. might be hard to wear for some Winters but for a spring crossover like paintbox spring maybe not as hard?

    I am still struggling with where I fall in this colour theory. I think I have neutral skin with some pink, my hair is dark brown with red and gold highlights, and I have light blueish grey eyes lol. I am 100% sure I’m not Autumn. I don’t look good in camel, yellow tones and brown tones. I think I can pull off some of both Summer and Winter tones. Very confused! 😅

    I'm confused as to what season I am. I thought I was a winter but I get compliments when I wear a light cream head to toe. What do you think?

    I have always been a winter. As my hair is going grey, and my skin is getting paler I think I am turning into a summer.

    I was really worried about you two. I couldn't find you anymore. Are you still with CMB?

    Lucinda, I hear you on the dark glasses. I am a soft autumn mostly and I got chocolate brown glasses which are technically too deep, but I love to wear them when I am wanting to be taken seriously. My soft olive glasses are a friendly unobtrusive look but sometimes I need a bit more presence 😉
