Thanks for the playthrough! A couple of notes and comments - I also will only play the short game if I am teaching it to someone new. The engine never quite gets going in the short game. Even the medium game when you finish you just want to go a couple more rounds, so we always play the long game now.
During round 2 Frances grabbed the "12 DNA in storage" objective during phase 1, and then Anthony grabbed it during phase 3. You can only both score an objective in the same phase, so that objective was Frances's alone. And like Corey mentioned below empty exhibits count for blueprints and PR bonuses but they also lose you 10 points at the end of the game.

At time 51:05, you don't place a yellow visitor in your park. You have a space open (in the attraction drawn onto the board). Not a big deal, but I think you should have gotten 1 more VP.

Thanks for the video guys. Can you guys do videos for Top 10 heavy / medium / and light games? Of course, those categories can be subjective. But maybe you can use the BGG complexity rating as a starting point.
Nice playthrough. You forgot to distract 10 vp's for her to not have any dino's in her marine exhibition, though.
An objective can only be collected by 2 people if that objective is completed in the same PHASE not round. This means that the "have 12 DNA in cold storage" was done incorrectly. This is clarified in the 2.0 rules from the second Kickstarter.

..... I hate to do this.... But Frances would lose 10 points at the end for having an empty exhibit as well.... Unless that's changed in the expansion and I haven't read it yet.

Anthony, I watched the entire video and first off, I love yours and Frances' play-throughs. You mentioned near the end of the video how you wish the dinosaur meeples were wood. You may know by now that on Kickstarter, Meeplesource has a campaign for noy only wood meeples but also painted to match the individual dinosaurs themselves. They are a bit expensive but would add some much more detail and eleance to the game. I think the campaign ends around March 3rd.
- This was a really great playthrough. I’ve been looking into this game recently and this playthrough was really helpful. Great explanations on why actions were being taken. Good example of how the game flows.
- Its funny you talk about math and its your job. Its mine too(I’m an accountant) so when I play games like this, the math is always calculating in the background of my head and I’m almost never thinking about it.
- I’ve watched multiple of your videos and they are all great. Always a great watch and, honestly, very relaxing. The gameplay is smooth. The explanations aren’t over the top, just here it is. Both your voices are soothing; I don’t actually watch, I typically listen while doing housework or driving or working.

Thanks for the great feedback! I (Anthony) went to school for business and accounting, and worked for over 25 years in investment finance. Math is just part of my world as you probably can relate!
Also, even though it says that in the manual, the numbers of meeples are wrong so typically you use the purple meeples for VIPs and the pink ones for hooligans. Maybe your copy has the proper number of meeples so you do not have to switch them. I know you two to be very good at these games, but I always try to rush the excitement up, where you were both methodical about buying multiple recipes first and then upbuild the paddocks first. It was interesting to see someone playing with a different style. I will be interested to see how the painted meeples from the current kickstarter look on the board. I could stand to lose the pink dinosaurs. The kickstarter is ruinously expensive though. You two are cute to watch play. Are you going to try DinoGenics or Duelosaur Island? Also look up Dino King the movie on RUclips. It's a fun little romp.
Have you two tried Duelosaur Island yet? It is a different game, but really captures a lot of the same fun.
I think you just need to get more plays in. My wife beat me the first time we played and then I crushed her the last time we played. Generally, this is the game where you know you are doing well, because your see your points and excitement going up. Having said that, hitting those objectives, blue prints, etc, makes a difference. We also always use the new plot twist that has first player rotate each round, or the hidden bidding for first player.
I love your playthroughs. They are very well done, informative, and fun. Is this video quality a little less than usual?

My wife and I like Duelosaur Island for two players better. It's shorter, has a much smaller footprint, and is just as fun.

Quick question for you: what kind of gear are you using for your overhead shots (stands, boom arm)?
This games looks awesome is very thematic and i like all mechanics in phases except phase 4. This random pulling of guests is killing it for me :( Especially since they're so black and white one is good another is bad for you, no grey area on them, which only makes this randomness worse.... I hoped expansion would change it.
So...when are we going to see that copy of Root get played? *grin*
It seems like the different breeds of dinosaurs should be different colors...

I like Pandemic, Cyclades, Celestia, Big Money, and so many more but you can look those up and go from there!
Are the metal coins in the base game?
Looking forward to trying this, but the review seems to indicate many flaws which is unfortunate. As always love your reviews, always the best!

My Totally Liquid version was totally rubbish, basically all plastic components other than the pink ones had REALLY nasty scratches and tears. I contacted their customer support but they blew me off telling me due to production reasons they all are that way. Yeah right... The production guys messed up and the customer has to take the hit for it, especially with a premium product like this. VERY disappointed at Pandasaurus Games

Grnademaster About the same game? Yeah before that I was really pleased with them but that was definitely my last KS from them...
Hopefully they can rectify this with their backers. I hope that when I buy a copy that they fix everything up so there are no more issues.

I was always put off by the ugly pastely colors of the game...like why are the dinosaurs pink?!?!
It's supposed to be 1990s style.
They are extruded plastic, sliced off for each piece. So they're less nice than they might be, but over all i thought they worked.
