आपने एयरपोर्ट्स और मॉल में शनैल का परफ्यूम देखा होगा. लेकिन आपको शायद ही इस बात का अंदाजा हो कि आज महिलाएं जो "वेस्टर्न ड्रेसेस" पहनती हैं, उनके पीछे वजह कोको शनैल ही हैं. अनाथ आश्रम में पली-बढ़ी कोको ने मातम में पहने जाने वाले लिबास को फैशनेबल बना दिया. आज एयर हॉस्टेस से लेकर टीवी एंकर तक सब इन्हीं के स्टाइल के कपड़े पहनती हैं.
शनैल को यह बात भी काफी परेशान करती थी कि आदमियों के कपड़े आरामदेह होते हैं लेकिन औरतों के कपड़े ऐसे जिसमें खूबसूरत दिखने के चक्कर में सांस लेना भी मुश्किल हो जाए. उन्होंने सोचा क्यों न औरतें भी आदमियों जैसे ही कपड़े पहनने लग जाएं.
लेकिन शनैल की कहानी किसी फिल्मी ट्रेजेडी से कम नहीं है. तो अगले 20 मिनट आंखे बंद कर के एंजॉय कीजिए किस्सा कोको शनैल और 'द लिटल ब्लैक ड्रेस' का.

मेरे दादा जी उस वक्त फ़्रांस में थे। (पहली जंग में सेनिक होने की वजह से) वो पेरिस के बारे में कहा करते थे वहाँ यह मशहूर था कि एक आदमी कपड़ा सिला के घर को भागा जा रहा था। किसी ने पूछा कि क्यों भागा जा रहा है? उस ने जवाब दिया कि मेरी बीवी की पोशाक है। इस घर पहुँचने तक फ़ैशन ना बदल जाए।

Hello I subscribed today and am very excited and proud to learn about great achievements of women in a male dominant society of earlier period. Though even today we get to hear about this in many streams like films, sports and science in many countries. Though I have seen very few videos of Wo Kaun Thi, but I really admire the contributions of Florence Nightingale and Madam Marie Curie. What I liked about Coco Chanel was she stuck her approach of decency in women's fashion and never compromised with it.
