I’m from rural Florida and we didn’t have internet at that time yet but we’d all meet up at one of our houses and bring our Xbox’s and play system link, great times💯

when that gets old pretend certain areas of the map are my base/house, park

In 2018 I made sure to make up for my lack of xbox live, had it for a 360 I got, played the hell out of Halo: Reach/3 on xbox live, mainly reach tbh the community was more alive, had teams dropping in a lot, still asking for recruitments
@@Litfilmz same here. i was in 7th grade. i grew up in rural california and we only could get dial up out here. xbox live needed a broadband connection. so i would take my big ass CRT tv with my console in a bagpack to my friends house down the road and we would play system link 2v2 or more when my cousins came haha. good times.
never got to experience much of xbox live bungie.net's halo 2 online though.

I didn't realize that you could find games in matchmaking consistently. Welp. Guess I'm buying an Xbox now. I absolutely need this in my life again. Playing H2 Xbox Live were some of the best times of my entire life.

Nah, gameplay is balanced better than anything current. Halo 2 has an almost perfect symmetry of wlaking speed, kill time, and respawn time. Hasn't been matched or outdone by anyone since. @@boltok1732
This takes me back to a time when school was just finished, the weather was warm. As kids we'd spend the whole day tiring ourselves off doing jack, but then coming home was another feeling. Nothing can describe an AC being blasted while sweat drips down your headset playing Halo 2 with two of your good friends from school. What a time

The crazy thing is that you can do split screen 4 players on Xbox live. So many games have failed to make their games now days on consoles split screen online

The best thing about every body having one of these xboxes back in the day, was that even if they didnt play it, girls etc. You could play it when you went to there house after a day on the block lol or rainy day lol so glad to see xbox live working again.

Had a lot of fun watching. Just finished playing classic halo 2 campaign again. I remember that I unfortunately did play Xbox live back when this and 3 came out. Only their campaigns. But when reach came out my brothers and I would play every mode including live. It was a lot of fun. Co-op Story will always be my favorite thing about halo. But man did this look amazing. Earned a sub for sure! had fun watching. Great personality playing a great game!

I was playing XBOX like crazy back in the day and always wanted to play Xbox Live in the Day but i was in Kinder when it came out and i do remember launch and all the posters everywhere, along with watching Polar Express as a field trip and Episode 3.

There was no better mix than the Xbox load up screen followed by DOOM.
Side note: 9117 Blocks is 142MB. Yeah it's not that big, but when you consider this is a 20 year old network device, and a lot of us had dial up back then. Yeah this takes for ever to download.

It was a very lucky guess haha
My guess is that it’s because a desync with the system clock and the internet’s “clock” breaks the connection. Back around that time, I used to reset the 30 day trials on different software by setting my computer’s clock 29 days back, which worked, but it would break the internet connection
I couldn’t play online on halo cos we never had internet I was 7 when halo came out.
It makes me smile that dedicated fans manage to make dead online services live again.

I remember playing Halo 2 my first ever xbox game. For the summer when I was like 7, I was taken to a special needs "camp" or daycare not sure what it was called, but still remember the name of the place. It was fun for the most part, going to water parks were fun but not getting banded at one of them was not ha. We also went to museums, went on hiking trails, bowling allies and other fun places ha. I remember begging my parents to buy me an OG xbox I didn't even know the 360 came out at the time. I loved Halo more than ever, got a toy, went to the library checked out books/comics, audio CDS the Animated series was awesome, I remember I broke my Master Chief action figure, this one time I threw him up in the air for no reason thinking he was indestructible landing onto the ground broken on at one of the bowling allies, it made me sad for months. Halo really skunked into my dense head and will always have place in my heart. On a Christmas morning in 2012 I started opening presents with my brothers and sisters with joy in my eyes seeing an xbox logo through the torn paper. My parents bought me an Xbox 360 the black slim one. still have it. I asked them, "was it too much" "you can return it if you want". They replied, "If you don't want it, we can take it back" and of course I said "I do want it" because it's my dream to play Halo. Asked this because I know we're not rich but well off and understand what faineances are. I was so thankful and happy, am still thankful for my parents and thankful to have a job where I can help pay bills, groceries, fix the house, or order food so mom won't cook, even though she makes amazing food.
Sorry for rant just looking at the gameplay just brings back some good old memories like looking through those old CRT TVS
That story brought me back lol I also remember opening presents with my brothers on christmas and seeing the xbox logo and freaking out, it was 2008 and Halo 3 was out I think and I was so excited to play Halo 3, the xbox came with Lego Indiana jones and Kung fu panda but eventually we got Halo 3 and boy wooo, I would pretend to be sick from school just to get in some good ole Halo lol

This brought back tons of memories. Just bought an Xbox from Goodwill for 20usd and it came pre modded. I updated it all and now I just need a larger HDD to be able to do more "things." Might just try and see if it works on a single layer dvd 🤔

I suck at Multiplayer shooters, except Battlefield back in the day. Never had Xbox Live in the OG Xbox days. Played a few Halo 2 matches and got completely rinsed but it was fun. Might have to edit the control scheme for multiplayer though.

Xbox 360 is the best imo. I just started playing Halo 3 again and lots of old games and loving it. No microtransactions or subscription bs just well made games that are fun to play. Fk next gen consoles (Xbox series S&X)

Halo 2 servers didn't close until April 15, 2010. YT didn't come out until 2005.

Wait so you’re able to play Halo 2 online again from the original Xbox? I thought that wasn’t possible as it’s been almost 20 years now since it released and that the servers shut down a while back.
Thats right! The xbox is using Insignia's server, for more thorough explanation check out the tutorial video in the description, Im not smart enough to explain how it works completely lmao but its awesome and relatively easy to get working if you are interested 🔥

Be warned, you will need to buy 1 or 2 things in order to make it work. But do not worry, it is far to be expensive. A budget of 20$ will be fine.
