@@MikeRobertsGaming Would level ten seduction affect the game in any way? i'm replaying with a toreador and trying to unlock some of the lesser known dialogue choices myself. (version 10.2 unofficial patch)
@@SiliconBong Hum, something I've never investigated myself so I can't say definitively. But I just did a cursory search of seduction lines and didn't find any seduction 10 checks (in original game, UP 10.4, and 11.3). If it were me looking for less well known dialog options, it would be because they involved a modest seduction feat in combination with some other trait or other gating feature that most players don't explore. I did find some seduction 9 checks in my search but none I would consider interesting though, although I suppose opinions do vary a lot on that!
@@MikeRobertsGamingTrue, asides from 'seducing' one thugs at the beachhouse, and one of the nurses at the hospital, its uses are far and few between as the game progresses..
@@SiliconBong Yea, here is an example of what I was alluding to: talking to Ricky player can say "How about you let me see Johnny and I don't twist your balls off, tee hee.". However, to get that line player has to pass two checks in combination, first is seduction 7 and second is Intimidate 6. Which is why I think so few people will ever see it as it requires something more complex than just raising one feat. Even more sneaky is the fact that the first seduction 7 check is invisible, no pink text or other indication that it leads to a unique dialog option. Game is really amaziing!!! ... or possibly a bit sick.
Thanks, I started working on bhopping last week... so far has been beyond frustrating :) It's really cool to see the interest in speedrunning on Twitch right now. I think you started a trend with your GDC practice streams!
Yea that's a thought. I think Chunk is such a great foil for LaCroix though. They seem like a perfect match. Chunk's incompetence to LaCroix's arrogance.
I won’t lie! Some of these lines I never ever, heard of before! I mean sure I did indeed had. Well details look into the game, but STILL! Some few thing left in the dark. Truly awesome game!
Extremely perceptive of you to notice that. When I started to look at the original subtitles I found many instances of this, mostly with older characters like Beckett. What at first looked like errors, with further research revealed that they were correct but older spellings, punctuations, etc. There are also other gags in the original like Luckee Star is misspelled many, many different and funny ways. I have slowly learned over time that what at first glance looks like mistakes are more often deliberate but require thought and effort from the player to uncover their true purpose/meaning.
I didn't remember him using this word in the game at all but i'm always impressed when i see this type of more formal type of English less used by the masses unless you're an academic because it's directly taken from Greek. But why is there a more modern form of it that ends with -ie instead of y? They y makes more sense to me (i'm Greek) the word is Ανομία meaning lack of law i guess used in the place of much more used anarchy.
@@thelightside77 I'm the wrong person to ask about that I'm afraid. I had never heard that word before. I had to look it up. It was kind of confusing because there wasn't universal agreement between sources about the meaning. I finally decided what LaCroix meant was the hierarchy and balance of power between the clans and other players were changing/failing. More about structure than law per se I guess. I don't know if that is correct but it is where I ended up.
@@MikeRobertsGaming What i told you is correct because i know my own language (it happens when you are born into the place that these words are spoken but shh don't tell anyone) ανομία. The α in the beginning denotes the lack of what follows in this particular case law i.e. order taken in context of the game. Anomie sounds like the French version of the same word. Why your anime loving fan above says it's more modern i wouldn't know.
I've been doing the reinstall, recover, rebuild thing myself for a week or so myself because of hardware issues. Even discovered some VTMB issues/problems to talk about in the process so those may turn into a video some day.
Interesting! I did get this last line but I didn't die. There was just some dialogue option like "okok i'm sowwy". I wonder, does it depend on your version of the patch or some other things? 🤔
Yea the Unofficial Patch changes this, it is as you say. The player says either "No need, I was only joking!" or "The fool only made fun of the jester." then the dialog jumps to using an existing line of dialog where LaCroix hollers "Enough!" at the player and the dialog loops back to the original as if you never said this line.
How do you even get to this point in the game? Is this after you've escaped from the Bloodhunt and decide to drive to LaCroix? Because as far as I remember, Chuck isn't there when you decide to fight LaCroix and if you decide to join him...well, I don't remember, it's been years. Is this if you decide to join him?
Yea it's two different points, one is after exiting the Hallowbrook hotel having talked to Ming and the other after the blood hunt having sided with LaCroix. It also depends on what choices you make after the Giovanni mansion, how many brownie points you have with LaCroix, etc. Also depends on what patch you play as the UP changes many of those gating values/choices so you can't get to the situations in the video. In a UP you can get the dialog lines to play but not for the same reasons/results.
I know of a few ways. If your patch has histories you can select a history, spend all the points and select that same or any other history and be able to spend the points again until character sheet is filled up. Although that is tiresome and takes a long time. It is easier to use the console and directly give the points you want. For example to boost lockpicking enter: vstats get security 5 and do the same for all the other stats you want. The only trick is sometimes the name isn't the same as on the character sheet, for example Scholarship on character sheet is academics in console. But console has autocomplete function so it is easy to get or guess at differences. The other was is for people with v1.1 of the game but I think only speedrunners will have this version. But it works same as histories except instead of selecting history just select same clan again and points will be available again.
Yea LaCroix is trying to implicate player as the killer of Nines at the observatory even though he knows it is a sham. When the player shows they will not fall for that sham, LaCroix quickly abandons that approach and changes to a new story/approach.
@@MikeRobertsGaming sad, i thought there's legit way to fight Anarchs. I know i Canon they win, but i believe game is extremely biased (there is no option to sabotages them)
In the original game the conversation just ends, but the scene with the Sheriff killing the player is missing. I tried to add a cutscene in LaCroix's room but ran into technical issues, which is probably what Troika found as well and maybe why scene is missing. So I changed map and reused an existing scene. Edit: but yes the game is over at that point but player simply has to reload a save to continue/retry dialog.
@@thelightside77 I also like that choices have consequences. I really like how some choices have overt consequences, like this, and some are totally silent. Last night I watched a streamer chose between accepting an item or cash as a quest reward. They took the cash and the consequence of that choice is they will not be able to get the clan specific apartment from that NPC. They will finish the game never knowing what that choice cost them.
The ladies call him, "Ohh GAWWWWD." And sure, he's got a weight problem. But he just don't give a ckfu
So many legendary characters in the game!

0:32 he went from "why did you killed Nines Rodriguez?" to "JK it was me lol" in a millisecond.
LaCroix is a great source of humor to me, not Chunk level but still funny at times.
Happy Holidays, Mike. Any video with Chunk is a thumbs up from me ;)
Thanks, same to you. It made me chuckle when I edited the video together and realized i managed to get both Chunk brothers in the video.
Didn't know about these, also an interesting small touch I noticed in 3:00, Lacroix uses "Anomy" instead of the much more modern form "Anomie"
