    Rippling Watercolors
    By Brian Balmages
    00-50687
    MakeMusic Young Band
    Grade 2
While many often underestimate the extensive colors, harmonies, and emotional ranges available to younger ensembles, this stunning lyrical work by Brian Balmages sets out to explore those very qualities and more. While playable by middle school bands, Rippling Watercolors is a fully expressive work that is equally at home with mature ensembles. Gorgeous.
    About ColorFlex
Conductors no longer need to choose between function and texture! Ensembles with instrumentation challenges still have numerous options to cover all parts, yet orchestration is elevated significantly to be faithful to the composer's original intent. Musicians have more opportunities to rest, and timbre once again becomes a central element of each work. So go ahead and have the best of both worlds: flexible and colorful.

This song makes me cry. I still remember the first time I ever heard it when my brothers were playing it, and I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It made me happy and sad at the same time, which is a feeling I hope not to forget. Such a beautiful and emotional piece and is one of those moments you know music has emotion.

😭🥺 that moment when your band director has this as the very last piece so your notes sound spitty and wet. We had 8 songs to play. Bridgeview, fire dance, Under an Irish sky, Loch Lomond, Moscow 1942, Nebula, Arabian dances, and Rippling watercolors. The band director we had for this passed away due to a heart attack and I miss him so much. I was his most improved player 💔 everyone else hated him but he helped me improve and see the beauty in the fact that they aren't just notes you play on a page. They move you

remember playing this in my last concert in 7th grade. That last visit to the band room felt like leaving home for a long time and never coming back. I wasn't placed into band the following year.
I come back to listen every now and then. Still brings tears to me eyes from when i last performed it.
