You should show adjusted for inflation numbers in brackets as it’s give the true understanding of how expensive the film was for its time. Otherwise it was a good video! 👍
First number is adjusted second is the original. What a numbers :O 1 Star Wars: The Force Awakens 2015 $575 *$447 2 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom 2018 $524 *$432 3 Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 2011 $513 *$379 4 Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker 2019 $496 *$416 5 Avengers: Age of Ultron 2015 $469 *$365 [5][nb 4] 6 Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End 2007 $441 $300 7 Avengers: Endgame 2019 $424 $356 8 Avengers: Infinity War 2018 $394 $325 9 Titanic 1997 $380 *$200 10 Spider-Man 3 2007 $379 10 Fast X 2023 $379 *$379
The three movies together cost less than 300 miliion dollars to make. At an average of around 95 million per movie, it was actually a quite efficient budget considering the scale of the movies. What made it notable at the time was the fact that the studio was splurging 3 hundred million dollars to make a trilogy all at once, something unprecedented at the time, and this was made more ridiculous by the fact that this trilogy was being helmed by a relatively unknown director. So it was a very risky bet for the studio spending that amount of money with a bunch of unknown factors, but it paid off big time.

I would not be surprised if one of the Avatar sequels eventually comes to the top. Then again I think in recent years big Hollywood studios have become more aware of the overflowing budgets and try to do things more cost efficient way, so Force Awakens might stay on top for quite some time
@Syretur I never touched the topic "quality". I said I wasn't expecting it to be more expensive, that's all. Also, honestly, I don't think it was a bad movie. It was not a serious movie, but it was a lot of fun. It's basically a comedy with action scenes.
Some movies didn't make the list although were really expensive to film. But I guess they were somehow irrelevant because other movies the same year/month were much more expensive. However, making a movie with a big budget doesn't necessarily make it great. Some from this list are OK or even trash
Seems you forgot the Lion King of 1994 @ 45M USD. And as others suggested to adjust for inflation - in this particular instance, you should have (darker colored bar) - along in the same row the shows the inflation cost AT that time (updating for every month) - so that the inflation bar grows with time, to really put in into perspective (yes, it is definitely more work - but would be very valuable). Thank you very much for your effort.
when u see other movies at the end of the video all that movies using a lot of cgi but u see there is still 2 movies of pirattes of caribbean which using less cgi compare to other made me think how enormous th budget is without cgi
I'll never understand why they spend this stupid amount of money... Godzilla Minus One for example is excellent costing no more than 20 million, and it's leagues ahead of most of the trash movies listed here.
Minus One was so cheap because japanese VFX artists are not paid anywhere near as well as American VFX crews (who are also underpaid). Actors and senior crew members to, are paid a fraction of what Hollywood stars & crew make. On top of that, the production and post production probably ran smoothly. No late reshoots and extensive, rushed vfx. Which is a prime reason for glaringly bad cgi in big franchise flicks. The marketing budget would have been smaller due to far less overseas appeal due to the language barrier.
Watching this kind of charts is always cool, but… you have to remember that money has different value through time, so per example 31M of Cleopatra in 1963 today would be much more (almost 300M), so the comparison of films too distant in time from eachother is pointless.
Tylko, że wydanie 50mln 50lat temu to nie to samo co wydanie 50mln teraz. Należałoby dodać inflację i ogólnie wartość pieniądza. Oczywiście należałoby też dołożyć czy film zarobił? Jak dla mnie nowa "Śnieżka" może wygrać w tej kategorii xD
@@scottwarren4998 they do have a video about the highest grossing movies too, lotr is pretty high on there especially the second one. This one is just about how much it cost to make the movies
Hardly. They practically own the entire entertainment industry, making money off naive customers like never before. Personally I gave up on them 20 years ago because I actually have a functioning brain in my head.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, should of included the adjusted for inflation total.

Yes, The Hobbit was way higher though!
It was, but they filmed the three movies at once so it was an efficient budget.

Exactly, and with the evolution of AI we don't know how the film industry is going to evolve!
The CGI in Terminator 2 is not dated. Still looks as good as ever.
i agree. it even looks much better than CGI in the 2020s
Multiverse of madness has officaly 414M budget. It still made a profit.
Holy shit I never thought much of true lies, but it makes sense. Didn't expect it to be more expensive than T2
Same, I was really surprised when I gathered the data!
One of Cameron's weaker movies for sure. Budget alone does not make for good quality.

Although I'm surprised that Avatars didn't cost more, it seems to me that with the costs of marketing this list would look very different.
I was not so much surprised as more often "Why? How? Where did the money GO?!"
Honestly a lot of it is: 1. Incompetence 2. The pockets of actors, directors and CEOs 3. Expensive Tech

Is this just production budget or it has all the marketing and promotion into account?
Just production budget!

where is THE ABYSS (1989) from James Cameron?
"Here's the entire history of the most expensive movies of all time". Why phrase it like that, when you only focus on the past 46 years?
Yes, the shortcut was a bit too extreme!
Not adjusted for the changing dollar, exchange rates, price of gold, costs of living...
Die Filme werden zwar immer teurer aber keinesfalls besser...
The next star wars movie if theres going to be one will cost more than 450 mil, or some type og avengers

You messed up, Avatar 2006.
But the most expensive movie doesn't need to be the best one. Which movie of all these has the best rating ever?
First 😎
where is LOTR
So sequels and comic books is the way to go. Nothing original any more.
This list just means they have the highest budgets, but yeah even looking at the highest grossing that's sadly true
A Lot Of Money made a couple of very mediocre movies…
You fotgot avatar?
Looks like there was some problem but it does show up at min 10 onwards
