Listening to this 4 years later. This literally answered a prayer about trusting Christ with our loved ones. “Our job is not to fix them, our job is to lead them a little closer to Christ.”
    Thank you 💕

I have had my own challenges with Hashimotos disease, resulting in numerous surgeries. My answer from God was very different. I was told that this trial would not be removed from me, and was asked if I had the faith to live a full life - with joy - while being sick, and seriously challenged. There was more to that conversation, but I will leave out those sacred details. What is important, is that I do have complete faith in my Savior, in His grace, and in the complete knowledge that I’m not being picked on, I’m being chosen and loved. My deliverance from this mortal bondage of disease will come when I see my Savior face to face.

I love that Abinadi died not knowing if his words, his testimony, and even his very life had made a difference...BUT HE DID IT ANYWAY! There is such a wonderful message in that for me! Sometimes there are those around us-even family members-who are unimpressed or unaffected by our words, our testimony, and by the way we choose the Lord in our lives, but we do it anyway! How I love Abinadi!

Mosiah has always been one of my favorite books. Watching and listening to you two this morning talk about these chapters has been so uplifting. I cried through much of this but when David said, "why are you carrying a burden I've already carried", it hit me with so much gratitude I was sobbing. Why am I trying to carry something that has already been taken care of? Christ already did that for all of us. I needed that reminder today. You two were my angels today and I thank Him for you two and the time and prayers you guys put into your videos. Have a blessed day.

Thank you so much Emily and David. This was so immensely personal to me. Although the prayers spoken of were mostly of the parents to their sons, I couldn't help believe that my situation, dealing with a beloved friend who has left the church applied to me too. My constant prayers and hope and faith that he will return someday to Christ are forever in my heart and soul. Many well meaning friends have encouraged me to let go of him, but I just can't. My hope for his salvation will never waiver, and maybe I can act as one of those angels you spoke about. So grateful for both of you.

My goal is that my kids will be brave enough to stand for truth and right and have a knowledge of how to make the changes this world needs! One person can make a difference. Small acts can make big changes. My kids will be watching this. 💚

I think it is important to remember: "But if not". I know my mother tried so hard to be perfect so that she could have the alma experience. I remember when my husband left.....I thought "God doesn't love me" because he didn't send an angel. But this talk helped me understand shadrach meshach and abendigo: "I know my God can save me, my child, my family, but if not..."

I love how you talked about us trying again and again to learn from our sins to become better. I hear to many people in the church say that once you sin and sin again your sin is not forgiven. You are showing through scriptures the true mercy of Heavenly Father! My teenage son really needed to hear this. He is 12 and dealing with much depression. He thought he would not be forgiven...you brought joy to him. Today you both were my son's Abinadi!

Your testimony and Spirit guided words have given me courage to keep trying to nourish my family with God’s word, the Love and example of the Savior through my daily living example, and making sure the Holy Ghost’s presence can be in my home. My husband is a bitter and persecuting Apostate and it’s been 8 looong years in the wilderness and counting!😭...my teenage children have left the Gospel and are unbelieving, my youngest I fear will do the same. I often feel alone and deeply discouraged bc “Deliverance “ seems a looong time coming with no positive signs of any change of heart in my family. Thank you for reminding me to see the numerous miracles and goodness of God in encouraging me to keep fighting the battle of rescue With The Lord, and reminding me to keep perspective in the fight bc we all know He has already won the war. Much love and respect for those of you out their fighting a similar battle. I know it’s deeply painful, heart wrenching, and often discouraging. The Lord trusts us in this rescue mission, keep looking up, there are more fighting with us than against us. Let’s cry our tears in Covenant mourning together, bc that’s strength in the Lord, and purpose together, and just keep going one more one more day...🥊✨❤️

Remembering that gives me comfort and feel as if I am not alone.

Mosiah 25 is a family favorite! We call it our Enthusiastic Cheer - Expressions of Regret chapter.
Background: The Muppets Frog prince has a scene where the king is giving a speech and the chamberlain is instructing the people how to respond to the Kings announcements. The responses would alternate back and forth between enthusiastic cheers to expressions of regret.
Present day: When we read the first line of Mosiah 25:8 where “…they knew not what to think” someone concluded they needed a Chamberlain so at the end of the verse exclaimed “Enthusiastic cheer!” Then at the end of verse 9 they uttered “Expressions of regret”. Verse 10 ended with “Enthusiastic cheer!” Verse 11 ended with “Expressions of regret”. Verse 12 ended with “Enthusiastic cheer!” It is now impossible to read this chapter without these responses coming to mind. In the verses that follow there are a lot of “Enthusiastic cheers!” It seems we always receive more opportunities to cheer about then regret even in times of trial. Maybe this is partly why we are saved or liberated by degrees. God wants to give us more opportunities for an “Enthusiastic cheer!”.

My daughter looked up "immediate" in the 1828 dictionary. It has a really cool definition: "acting without a medium, or without the intervention of another cause or means; producing its effect by its own direct agency." God's goodness was available to them, by the grace of God, not some third party interventionist.

Summer of Heroes will include a woman or two, right?? Abish is a good one. Especially when you realize she had to keep her faith to herself in the harsh Lamanite society, she was the only believer, from her father's vision she carried.... but she had such courage to move on her instincts and stand up when it counted, to point others to faith in Jesus Christ, when her voice could have meant death. She was a lone woman of courage in a sea of disbelief. She had no congregation to commune with, no testimonies of others to share. She was a servant. Yet, she was able to have the spirit with her, all by herself, and God. And she stood. To show others. She was One. I can't remember where, but someone researched women heroines in the scriptures and had a supplement for primary teachers, so their stories could be highlighted more, since traditional church publications are a little less balanced. Mothers of the stripling warriors, Queen of King Lamoni...

I know and appreciate what you’re teaching, but there is a place that the scriptures use the harshness and destruction approach to teaching (see time stamp 45:43). Check Enos 1:22-23. And Mormon had no success with either approach, but he tried both (see Moroni 9:4). Hopefully we never get to the place the people were in with either of those references! Keep up the great work! We really enjoy and learn new insights from your weekly lessons.

If you pause at 21:20, then you can see the "11 Stand Outs" on Emily's side of the board. It's a little tricky, but if you pause at 51:21 you can see the whole board as they walk away.

I know you can't cover everything, but, it would have been great to hear a little something about the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost; this experience that Alma had MUST happen to ALL of us - how do we do that? I need some instructions. I think back to Mosiah 5 and Mosiah 15 for the words of King Benjamin and Abinidai on this exact same topic. Does that make sense? (Also, calling and election made sure in Mosiah 26:20).

    Hello y'all,
I appreciate you explaining the facts of the book of Mormon. However, we often focus on the children and youth for being rebellious, unbelievers, and have gone astray. Usually they are moldable. How about parents? Even when they're wrong we should honored them. In my experience my mother has been in a spot where doesn't progress spiritually. I have asked, pleaded, taught her, even screamed at here. How about a child player for a parent!? When you wish them to be better and unite the family instead of dividing it!. I have had guidance, revelation, inspiration from Heavenly Father but they don't hearken to the Lord and spirit. Is not just little ones, young adults but full grown people. We are all children of God. A hurt heart, hard head, blind eye, deaf hear to the will be difficult to penetrate til that person reflects on themselves. What can we do?

Hello! My name is Marciele Junges, I am from Brazil and I really enjoy watching your lessons. I would like to ask your permission to translate your videos by adding Portuguese subtitles to them. I would then publish them on a Come Follow Me Brazil channel. Is it okay if I do that?
That way even those Brazilian members that do nit speak English could benefit from your excellent content. I would make sure to point your channel as the source of the videos. Please let me know if I can do that.

That comment at the end - about everyone choosing to bend the knee to Jesus Christ - feels a little too much like 2 Nephi 28:8. I know Father will save most of His children, and they will live some degree of His glory based on their obedience to His law. But I heard your statement about that, and it really gave me pause, guys. It flies in the face of everything I've learned about the principle of agency. You may also be interested in what Neal A. Maxwell said about that moment when the Savior comes: "And, if you sense that one day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, why not do so now? For in the coming of that collective confession, it will mean much less to kneel down when it is no longer possible to stand up!" ("Why Not Now?" October 1974 General Conference)

I’d like to learn more about the significance of baptism in the times of the law of Moses before Christ was baptized. I’m reading in Mosiah 25-28 and the people of Limhi hadn’t been baptized but wanted to be.
We get baptized now to take upon ourselves the name of Christ and we know to do that because Christ showed us what to do and is our exemplar.
Would they have been doing the same thing before Christ came to fulfill the law?
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

About the “church community” joining together in prayer for one among them that’s gone astray: ideally, this is what bearing one another’s burdens should be. My experiences are that those within the circle do this for one another, but those marginalized do not benefit from this inclusion. As such, I opt to remember that Jesus was marginalized by his own, the Jews, as well. Hence, no one need feel sad they’ve been excluded by Ward, rather, opt to know that even Christ was not “popular”, but rather depended upon our common Father. So too, for us. But to expect Ward members to step up to the plate? Naw.

It took me a few minutes to realize the tail extending to the right of Limhi represents Amulon and the other wicked priests of Noah that remained in Nephi teaching the Lamanites the language of the Nephites. After nearly 400 years and without written records the Lamanite's language had become corrupt.
