    @Ozpeter Год назад +2

    Some great tips there - I'll bookmark this one. However, I just uploaded a video comparing footage from the Go 2 vs the X3 4K single lens mode, and although the Go 2 is only 1440p and it's been through an extra processing stage via the Studio app on my PC, the level of detail it provides is significantly higher than that from the X3. It's as if the X3 4K single lens clips are actually more like 1080p. Have you got any tips to improve the basic x3 single lens quality? Maybe it needs fixing in FW... Or maybe we should drop the whole 4K / 2.7K / 1440p / 1080p thing and just quote some measure of actual resolution, which would reflext real-world outcomes.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  Год назад

      Thanks Peter. Re your experiment, make sure you are comparing from the same distance, fov, projection (with or without distortion) and sharpness setting. It is also possible that you might be seeing sharpness on go 2 but not real detail. That’s why I used the text from the museum hours sign as a target. Real detail will make text more legible. If it looks sharper but the text is not more legible then it isn’t more detailed.
      I agree re the labels. Insta360’s defense is that x3 has 4k sensors so if you use single lens mode then it “really is” 4k. But the catch is that we usually use don’t use the entire 190 fov. We use less than that so that’s why it doesn’t look 4k. If we use 75 fov, that shows only 1/6th of the sensor so as you said it looks closer to 1080p (it’s actually even less).

    • @Ozpeter
      @Ozpeter Год назад

      @@360vroomers The only factor where I may have been unfair to the X3 is that I had sharpness in low, which the pros seem to recommend. But the Go 2 seemed to make a better job of powerlines, which in some cases disappeared completely from the X 3 image. I'll test further anyway. Generally I love the X3 but it's important with any camera to be aware of its weaknesses as well as its strengths!

    Seems obnoxious to be running around with a giant pole in front of me lol any recommendations for discreet high quality cameras with ois that I can clip on my jacket or something?

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  Год назад +2

      Hi Ton. The pole doesn’t have to be very long. It can just be a regular selfie stick. I use one all the time at public places and theme parks and no one bats an eye. But if you want a wearable camera, there is the insta360 go 2 which is the size of a thumb and can shoot stabilized video at up to 1440p. Another option is to wait for a hero 11 mini which will have the same sensor as hero 11 but will be about half the size because it doesn’t have a touchscreen (or front lcd).

  • @pezdacandyboi

    On the x2. Do you recommend shooting in hdr video or regular video for most shots

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  Год назад +1

      Hdr video will give you better highlight range but it has two issues. First, the colors look “hdr-like”. Some people like that while others don’t. Second, if the camera is moving fast or shaking (eg from running) the highlights can look like they are floating. This becomes more obvious as ambient light becomes darker. if you really like hdr video mode, fyi the x3 has something called active hdr which is like hdr video 2.0. The highlights don’t float even when the camera is shaking. And it is more detailed than hdr video.

    • @360vroomers
      @360vroomers  Год назад +2

      Hi there Keep Soul Free. I agree that the so-called 4k single lens doesn’t look 4k at all in terms of detail. And yes in terms of detail, hero 11 is much more detailed than x3. But x3 has many other advantages such as the 3rd person view, the ability to shoot first and point later, and letting you enjoy your time with your family and friends instead of on getting the shot. For me, those benefits are worth the trade off of lower resolution unless I’m in a situation where I am shooting a video of someone else (when I’m a cameraman).
