Well, he "was" a great drummer. But, it doesn't mean that Lars is the best. I'm a Metallica fan, but srsly, I never considered him as the best drummer in the world. Btw, in the 80s, he isn't really simplistic. But, yeah, everything has changed XD.
Still punches the guts after 45 years, especially if don't start too late is played played as the intro as it should be. The classical guitar towards the end is genius pure genius.
It pains me to say so, but I think Bill Ward was probably a better drummer than Bonzo. He just had a bigger toolkit. Bonzo basically did one thing - sit in the pocket and bash the shit out of his drums. Bill Ward was much more creative.

One of my favourite Sabbath songs, still rocks after all these years !!
This was like nuclear bomb in the 70's.
Y E A H ! , ; IT R E A L L Y WAS ! ! ! :-)
In the 70s, we expected nuclear bombs. This was our reaction.
Imagine the first 3 albums. So dark and ominous
BLAST
One of the greatest Riff's created by Tony Iommi
thrash beginning, hippie ending
how can be more awesome?
Yeah, for second I thought Crosby Stills and Nash were playing
@Riff Raff I thought they hated hippies though? Wanting peace doesn't make you a hippy
@@jromh8813 they weren't into politics, but they sure were into hippie love & sex & drugs & bullshit. But you know as time passed by AND "metal"became a dark tough guys thing. But BS were pretty colorful in the 70s hippie as fuck
Sounds like Led Zeppelin III
@@jesusofnazareth6254 but ozzy was and still a huge fan of the beatles, specially a huge fan of john lennon which was 100% a true hippie
This is a classic black sabbath song that i never get tired of listening too
I think Ozzy delivered the best, most intense vocal performances of his career on this album, and on this track in particular.
I'm usually not a huge fan of Ozzy's voice, but he was really good in the first part of the song, and fucking fantastic in the second part.
+Jazz1992 one of their best albums
Ozzy is not for you.
You have shitty taste then if you usually don't like Ozzy.
Everytime I hear this song I cry my heart out and feel cleansed afterwards.
Holy Shit, this is thrash metal!!!!
This and Planet Caravan are the two best Black Sabbath songs for me
Wheels of confusion
Wow I’m 62 and haven’t heard this in a very long time and as soon as I heard it I realized I knew every word so I must’ve listened to the album over and over❤️
The Symptom of the Universe is written in your eyes.
It's My name
@Thomas Gabriel ,....it can only be seen by r e a l LOVERS ! ! O:-)
The ending is just so fucking amazing... Gets me every time
It originates from the live jam they used to do call "Sometimes I'm Happy". Check it out. I wish they had recorded it as it's own song.
It is like a caress after a beat up
Some parts sounds like zappa
I like the way they just transition into a completely different style. Today's music is so much more conservative and boring by comparison where a band will stick with one style. It's brilliant because it's purely about the music, not about pleasing a scene or a bunch of journalists.
MEEEEEEEE, TOOOOO !XX! O:-)
definately the first thrash metal song , ever THE MIGHTY SABBATH IS GODLY ...
+Whyte Groovin Stone Cold Crazy is also one of the firsts.
+Whyte Groovin So true I was just thinking the same thing, they were truly ahead of their time !
+Whyte Groovin True... But wot about HIGHWAY STAR?.....
+MetalheadYA Highway Star is more of a speed metal song (There is a fine line between Thrash and Speed Metal)
+Svil Buscus Agreed. Star is real speedy.... Sabbath didn't have the speed thing goin at all... They had the heavy, weighty thing goin on... There are Sabbath elements in Thrash and Speed Metal though...
Loudwire just reported that this got voted as the greatest guitar riff of all time.
Do you approve this, Lord Jesus?
Especially in the Winter, Sabbath brings back that same ol’ feeling of Hardcore Youth & Freedom- All year ‘round Sabbath takes me back!
Huge, Huge, Huge, influence in my life!!!
Black Sabbath gods of metal!!!
De nuevo los increíbles BLACK SABBTH nos alucinan y nos hacen levitar , wooooooow
Dya not think Bill Ward just flies on this track?
SUPERB!!
He is a big a reason for this songs badassedness as Ozzy's awesome vocals .
+Anthony Taylor he is a top drummer man. from the fucking start
+Anthony Taylor Love the drums on this track. He sounds just a hair shy of losing control. Wanton drumming! And that Iommi riff! Perfection. This is the Black Sabbath that I treasure and miss. Rock on
+Anthony Taylor god does he ever...too bad he's not on "The End" tour...
+Anthony Taylor Bill Ward is one incredible drummer, listen to the wizard. You can't beat a jazz trained drummer. His drumming is of the charts on this track.
Amazing that Ozzys voice survived the recordings of Sabbath bloody sabbath and Symptom of the universe
Today I decided to do a 12 minute guided meditation video on RUclips. The meditation was by Eckhart Tolle who is one of my favorite spiritual teachers. I felt totally blissed out after meditating. Anyway, I thought my cell phone would turn off after the meditation video was over. However, my RUclips account was set to auto play and went right to the next video on my playlist. That video was Symptom of the Universe. Glorious, just absolutely glorious.
Pure bliss!!!
Way......Way......ahead of anything............and such mood swings............Bill Ward is an octopus on drums............riffs aplenty!........got to play the whole album this album is like one long song of life's experiences! Odd as it may sound. Tull had a lot of mood swings too! Had to play the whole album. Pink Floyd too. Got to check out Earth(early Sabbath). Blue Swede shoes! Elvis! Ozzy! Changed the words up. Better!
Now I know where James Hetfield got his Yeaahhhs from...
Yeaaaaahhh :D
Oh Lord yea!
Hetfield still need more practice...
James Yeahtfield
hetfield is a wus compared to Ozzy in his 20s
My favorite album of all time. Don't get better than this....
I'm 62, and this song is incredible God bless you all
One of the greatest piece of music of Black Sabbath. A must ! ❤️
The acoustic is some of the best I've ever heard in my life!
bill ward is a monster.
It's kinda sad that Lars Ulrich is sometimes considered the best drummer because he plays for Metallica. Lars pales in comparison to Bill Ward.
Coaster, are u serious?
Who said that Lars is the best drummer?
Even many Metallica fan doesn't say that..
+Thythyd Dicky Dick Mainly people who are ignorant about a lot of metal. I'm not trying to dis them, you can't know everything, but even metal fans say it and it gets on my nerves because he is so simplistic it's boring.
Well, he "was" a great drummer. But, it doesn't mean that Lars is the best.
I'm a Metallica fan, but srsly, I never considered him as the best drummer in the world.
Btw, in the 80s, he isn't really simplistic. But, yeah, everything has changed XD.
It has, also I suppose he was pretty good in hid heyday. Still doesn't compare to many.
Ozzy's vocals on this record are fantastic. Not an average "scream".
Still punches the guts after 45 years, especially if don't start too late is played played as the intro as it should be.
The classical guitar towards the end is genius pure genius.
You know, when you create thrash metal, but you also gonna J A Z Z
So ahead of their time...amazing
Geezer Butler walks into studio and says, "Hey you guys down for some speedballs?"
And Ozzy screamed, "YEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHH"
Hahaha! :D
That is too good to not be true
*does speedball, continues to headbang*
" COME ON"
Late Night Guitar Adventures always ozzy
I remember Ozzy once saying in an interview that you can't have lovey dovey lyrics set to metal music. This song suggests otherwise.
Another one bites the dust! 😁
this is so heavy for the 70's,thrash metal is this
I love how this song starts out crushing it, metal all day, then eventually winds down to a funky acoustic campfire song.
I cannot imagine this was played in 1975...
A lot of bands from the 60's and 70's always blow my mind with how heavy they were. Seriously old bands were the best!
It's mad to think when the beetles were writing there music. Ozzy was there writing this
Then you weren't there is was epic
thats what i thought of the song black sabbath off the first album i mean my duuuuude
@@conortaylor550 The "Beatles" broke up 5 years before Geezer Butler wrote this.
definately the best band ever which did everything for the first time ;)
Bill ward just knows when to turn them drums on and when to just take a back seat and just keep time. For me him and bonzo top two
Chris Williams yes and Lee Kerslake also
It pains me to say so, but I think Bill Ward was probably a better drummer than Bonzo. He just had a bigger toolkit. Bonzo basically did one thing - sit in the pocket and bash the shit out of his drums. Bill Ward was much more creative.
The BEST representation of a Sabbath Song, PERIOD!
We’re sabbath fans 👍👍👍🤘🤘🤘rock on sabbath 🎸🎸🎸
