but then the internet says he‘s studied music performance at Bath Spa University. so he‘s indeed educated in this direction what explains his diverse musical abilities a bit more. maybe he hasn‘t finished and the rest is self-taught or self-taught before university? at least he‘s possibly got the tool from university to develop himself. also i think his mother had something to do with music if i remember rightly. so there might indeed have been some classical training, but who knows. in any case he most likely has been influenced by classically trained close persons.

@@greenogre22, somewhere it's mentioned that she’s a voice teacher, and his dad was in the music business. Whatever, it's not clear if Ren is completely self-taught. I did see that he taught himself guitar licks by slowing down and imitating guitar masters, from RUclips videos. Jimmi Hendrix was mentioned as one of them. Ren has been very open to answering questions in his RUclips interviews -- surely, someone has asked him about that.

They're healing, and connected to our emotions for a reason, a way to vent that emotion. In my humble opinion, I really think it's healthy to cry, in private, wherever the need takes you, we are after all, human beings. Better out than in as they say, wouldnt want to explode one day from pent up emotion.

Ren is making music interesting again. He is talking about topics others won't even touch, or they are considered taboo. Why do we live in a society that doesn't want to talk about the hardships we go through, the struggles, the self doubt? We NEED to talk about these things. I have shared my story for the first time since it happened. I followed through with my attempt and was maybe seconds of the forever sleep. My best friend knew what I was doing and he ran till he found me. He took a rock and used that to cut the rope down just in time to save me. I thought there had to be a reason if he saved me. Then, my best friend passed in 05, and I wanted to join him again... but seeing his mother suffer that pain, I couldn't put my family through that. So now I HAVE to stick around to live the life he didn't get to live. There ARE better days coming no matter how bleak the future looks. Call someone, please. Hell, if you're reading this and need to just vent, message me! I'll get in touch and we can talk. You are Not alone, and you are loved!

💔❤️ I think Ren's music for Joe is helping him heal and move forward a bit. He recently went back to Wales, saw Joe's family and some of his childhood friends, all things he hadn't done for years. All while sharing this painful process with us. I know it's touching others as it has me and I hope the people who need it internalize it and are able to move forward a bit, too. Thanks for letting it play all the way through once and providing just enough commentary the second time through. God bless you and your wife. ❤

What I love is that Ren blowing up on the internet is just such a positive thing for everyone involved. It's not only helping Ren heal. So many people can resonate with the struggles he shares with us, that recognition gives them strength. There's so many reactors who gained traction thanks to his videos, as well as opening up about their own struggles and finding a way to let that pressure off through sharing. And for the community and reactors there's also a voice that may help them find a way to cope, to overcome the struggle, to find that balance and have the pendulum swing to the light sight.
Then there's also Ren himself, finding strength in his popularity and positivity from the community to face some of his greatest inner demons. Chinchilla for gaining more popularity and recognition thanks to her collabs with Ren. Joe and his family, of course, for what Ren has done for them, as well as the massive outpouring of love from the community. I'm sure it will help soften the pain, at least somewhat. And the RNLI, for Ren's donation from the sales of his music...
The list goes on and on. It really is a beautiful thing to witness and be part of.

Cannot imagine having to hold onto the constant wondering if he had ran from his house to the bridge just 5 minutes faster, he might have been able to grab him.

I am so very sorry for you and your wife's losses and thank you for another beautiful reaction & vocal analysis. Ren and Sleep Token have been artists who have brought up so many buried memories and emotions for me and just when I thought that I have run out of tears, there we go again. I am so grateful that they bestow their talents on all of us and share their pain so we can collectively heal. In these times where everything is about absolute perfection (or at least presenting only perfect impressions to others and the world) we need raw emotions, breaking voices, and lyrics that cut deeper than we are often willing to go. Omg that is a great comparison. Both are so uniquely talented (word that seems insufficient) as masterclass storytellers with other-worldly abilities in every facet of creating and performing music. Their lyrical abilities take societal ills head on, topics people generally don’t want to discuss, let alone sing about. Violence. Abuse. Death. Heavy stuff. And the bluesy-jazzy-spoken word mixes…I could go on and on. I can’t even put into words how profoundly affected I am by everything he does.

Edit: connected in the sense of relationships... with ourselves, and with each other, but also with the biosphere and as ancestors to the future of humanity.
To always work towards becoming a better ancestor to future generations I'll never meet has been my driving mission in life for a decade and the work Ren does, in his art & performance, to demonstrate how one might go about that, feels very important.

Thank you Chris, for allowing us to join you in this amazing journey Ren brings many of us on. It's a privilege and an honor my dude!
There's something about Ren, he writes with a pencil that inscribes a little deeper for those of us finding our way, even touches those who didn't know they were on a path until he reached them with his notes, from spoken, harmonized, or to the veil he uncovers. It's a beautiful experience to be shared; there's something very human about it all. I'm grateful, honored and most of a blessed to share this experience with you all.

It takes courage to „tear down the wall“ of self-isolation or the “everything is fine” facade that so many on social media are trying to create and reveal oneself, I would say, emotionally naked.

I feel like Ren helps people unearth and process things within themselves that they didn't even realise needed unearthing and processing. Certainly true for me! You hear so many people say vulnerability is strength, but Ren actually _shows_ you the truth of it by example. I'm so sorry for your and your wife's losses 🫂
Loved your video, as always. Be vulnerable, be strong. ❤

I usually don't listen to lyrics, more focused on music itself, especially in english 'cause i'm french and even if i understand oral english pretty well, it's harder in music. But with Ren... the lyrics, every word slash me into the heart. I understand every sound, every word, every feeling he put in his text. This man is absolutely amazing. A rare piece of pure artist as we discover just few in a hole generation.

I was saying just the other day to my girlfriend that music/films or just any good art is important, far more important than anyone gives it credit for. Purely because it forces you to think or feel in ways you otherwise wouldn’t and it connects dots that would otherwise remain unconnected.
Its required for healthy growth, that’s how important it is. Literally required for humanity.

    This is imperfectly perfect.
Between Ronnie releasing his song the other day and then Ren releasing this...ive been a mess these past few days.
I've found that I need these types of song to feel. Sometimes life gets in the way of feeling and sometimes we lock feelings up to be out of the way.
In these times it's so easy not to feel the things that hurt us the most.
To go on living just living is death alive. These songs, as hard as they are, are life being lived.
Thanks for such a sweet reaction.
