And that's it. I've seen all the Lasagna Cat RUclips has to offer. I don't know where my life goes from here, but I'd like to thank Jim Davis for this loving tribute to himself.
@@medexamtoolsdotcom I'm pretty sure we would not have lasagnacat without Jim Davis. Truly, Jim Davis is behind this. He is truly to blame, for we cannot look away.
This one has to be one of my personal favourites. Took me a while but i think I understand. When the comic starts you see Garfield, if your a familiar with the Garfield comics this shouldn’t be an irregular sight. Now he appears to be sitting on what seems to be a kitchen bench. Next to Garfield is the text “WOW” coming from a character who is off screen. This grabs the readers attention as they wonder who is saying this and what exactly is so amazing. At first this might lead the reader to think that the person who is saying this is amazed by Garfield perhaps even a fan of his, Garfield is seemingly not that concerned or even caring at this point. But then this is where Jim Davis’s true genius shines through, on the second panel this once assumed fan starts to list of a series of insults which include “big”,”fat” and “orange” which naturally the reader think these are directed towards Garfield. I think this is mainly due to all of these being apt descriptions of Garfield the cat. Garfield during this panel has now has a surprised look on his face (much like the readers) due to having heard all these describing terms which he like the reader assumes are about himself. He looks towards the reader, breaking the 4th wall, and trying to reach out and relate to us, in astonishment of what is being said. But the sentence remains unfinished until the third and possibly greatest panel. This mysterious figure is revealed to be none other than Jon Arbuckle, the infamous owner of Garfield the cat. Jon has a devilish grin on his face showing that he has tricked Garfield and is doing so for his own amusement. Now we get to the peak of the hilariousness of the comic Jon says simply a single word “pumpkin” whilst pushing a pumpkin into the readers view. In combination with the previous few panels everything comes together in a master class of comedy, the previous statements of “big”,”fat” and “orange” were not directed towards Garfield they were merely describing the pumpkin. The pumpkin does indeed fit the description but is a more darker shade of orange perhaps representing the dark nature to Jons intentions but to also perhaps help distinguish the pumpkin from Garfield the cat. Garfield has now turned his head to fully to see Jon again much like the reader. This has subverted both Garfields and the readers expectations, who were both assuming that the previous descriptions were about Garfield. Jon has both tricked his own cat and the reader and seems to know about it due to his facial expression. I believe Jon has done this mainly against Garfield as he is unaware of the reader unlike Garfield who clearly knows of the readers existence. Jon perhaps has done this to lash out at Garfield for being such a fat and lazy cat, which he notes in the insults towards Garfield. He purposefully has manipulated Garfields unawareness to think he is insulting him to only trick him by showing him the pumpkin, perhaps so that he can insult Garfield without having any repercussion for his actions since he was both describing Garfield the cat and the Orange pumpkin. Garfields face once again has resumed the un-caring appearance that it did in the first panel but this towards Jon showing that he is not effected by Jons prank and ultimately making his efforts wasted. He once again looks towards the reader as if to say “can you believe this guy?” Which might suggest that Jon has done similar actions like this before and therefore this is the reason Garfield is so desensitised to Jons insults. This might also relate to how he does not care and cannot care for Jon and this very human action due to him being a cat. Maybe he suggests that he is above these petty human acts of mischief but again he remains thoughtless and speechless throughout the comic so us as humans will never be able to truly understand Garfields thoughts towards Jon and the human race as a whole.
If the pumpkin is a whole new world and Garfield acquires the attributes of the pumpkin, Garfield is the next phase of cosmic evolution, a universe outwardly expanding until its feet can't touch the floor. On day it will collapse into a lasagna singularity, and begin anew. That day will be Monday.
@@CMSonYT it’s an autumn/halloween themed comic with the pumpkin since the release date was close to halloween, yes I know your comment is 4 years old but I don’t care
I love how unfitting the big laugh track is. Garfield is more subtle humour. It doesn't make you laugh out loud and it isn't supposed to. It's just to amuse you. This is still the best series of mind-rape videos I have ever seen.
Garfield's silence at the end speaks volumes. VOLUMES. All those feelings bottled up inside, the confusion, the fear of rejection, the befuddled relief at the punch line. Garfield the Cat has been subjected to a roller-coaster ride of emotions, a whirlwind of self-doubt and mild offense, even the unspoken thoughts of anger, revenge, and murder that played upon his synapses for this perceived slight upon his character--- all in the span of a few moments, a mere thirty seconds of his life, nay, his NINE LIVES, an infinitesimally insignificant segment of his existence as a feline on this wretched globe... and yet, it may well have been the defining moment of his life, the one unexpected scenario for which he could have never prepared, but was thrust into by the Fates, unwilling, unprepared, but not entirely incapable, for at the end, he came through with flying colors, his dignity intact, his manhood unquestioned, his ambivalent disinterest in his owner RESTORED. In this instant, Garfield the Cat has truly embarked upon, and returned triumphant from, the Hero's Journey.
One of those rare instances when the legless, hapless Jon gets a leg up on Garfield. I couldn't possibly think of a more apt cosmologically-themed video for an unprecedented occurance such as this or a song more suitable than a duet by the inimitable Peabo Bryson and Regina Belle.
Brilliant! Do you have a plan during the entire production process, or do you just shoot the comic strip portion and see what jokes you can make out of it?
