I agree. BR suiting is pretty good for their price point. So is their denim.

I won’t buy suit pieces made with fabric that stretches. They’ll seem to fit better at first but won’t age well as the tension in the stretch diminishes. Stick with traditional 100% wool (or cotton or linen for summer suits) and get traditional alterations so the pieces fit your body. Look for easier to clean wool fabrics, like wool crepe. Take care of them, cleaning well before storage and relining as needed. The wool garments, at least, will last a lifetime. If you can’t find them in stores have a tailor make them in the color and fabric of you choice. Worth every penny.

BR suiting is actually great value when they have their 40% off sales. It's a half canvas, well tailored, mostly wool suit with good color and texture options. Whichever factory makes their suits knows their stuff.
The leather jackets are also great. Made in Korea and I suspect I know which factory based on the very clean cuts and stitches.

Men’s clothes are made better in general. Thick and more comfy hoodies and sweats, for example.

Can you do more Banana Republic, Gap, Athleta. I have a bunch of credit with the brand and want to get the best pieces I can from them

Use the basics she teaches in these videos and use that credit! Fiber content, even surfaces, and smooth finished stitches! Don't let them keep your money 😊

Hey Jennifer I worked at banana republic for 10yr was with them for the rebrand the brand has different color tags for the tier of the clothing, usually when they are trying out a new designer they’ll try out their designs on a lower quality material so that if the public doesn’t react right it’s not as big of a lost

@@Kathywake23 usually the black banana republic one is they’re modern classics which is higher quality and things they considered they should always have, then the BR is a little more casual usually lower quality, and either one if it’s gold or like a light beige color means it’s a season thing wether a designer or fabric

Jen, you are killin’ it! I love that you share good and bad pieces from different brands. It reinforces the good and challenges them to improve. Plus, you spread knowledge and awareness on what a quality, long lasting garment is made of so we can get a bigger bang for our buck

It’s the other way round too - 90% of Zara is hot garbage, but some of my favourite pieces are from there. I don’t shop there anymore but I still own blazers and dresses I’ve bought years ago and they still look new. I also have a pair of high waist skinny jeans from H&M I bought in the sale for £3 in 2011 - they’re the only skinny jeans I like. They fit beautifully and still hold everything up, and despite searching high and low for a new pair as they are very worn on the inner seam, I can’t find anything else that fits as well!

Well, RWS certified really affects the quality too? It's about sustainability tho. I am just saying for other viewers if they understand RWS is one of the factors to show the quality, when you mentioned that.

She tries to avoid synthetic mixes as much as she can and try to buy clothes with very high contain of wool, cotton, cashmere and any other natural fabrics, she has some “fake satin” that are made full of polyester she doesn’t like it because it is hard to recycling, she absolutely hates acrylics composition… and she wouldn’t buy anything that contains it as is very hard to wash and most likely will pill very quickly.
She also focus in nice finishes and no bumpy or irregular stitchings

@@TheTastefulThicknessit’s so funny to comment this on a video where she explicitly states you can’t just trust “brand name” or a company. You should be looking closely at the details of their products individually rather than accepting when they tell you it’s good quality

You have to understand manufacturing to know how this can happen. Products they are know for are likely going to be better quality then others. High end designer brands can have the same challenge.
