Investing in SIP is like planting a fruit tree. In the early years, much like nurturing a young tree, it requires patience and care without immediate rewards. But with time, just as the tree eventually bears fruit each year, your investment begins to flourish, growing steadily and multiplying. Trust the journey, nurture your investments, and watch as they yield abundance in the years to come.

You can have a long term folio consisting of Index funds and smart beta funds ONLY. Including actively managed funds in such folio involves periodical review, exiting poorly performing funds and paying LTCGs and losing on compounding benefit. Finally in the long run (>15 yrs) all actively and passively managed (esp smart Beta) Funds give almost similar returns. Then why to get entangled ? why not to keep it simple?

  • @pbg2266

How much should I invest monthly in SIPs to build a portfolio of 3 crores in 10 years? Currently, I invest 43,000 monthly in SIPs across different mutual funds (15,000 in UTI Nifty 50, 10,000 in ICICI Large Cap, 10,000 in Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, and 8,000 in Motilal Oswal S&P 500 Index Fund). I also have 6.5 lakhs invested in silver and gold. I can increase my SIPs up to a total of 1.5 lakhs monthly, and I have no liabilities. What would be an ideal SIP distribution or additional investment needed to reach my target?

Advisory services are definitely required ONLY in timely entering and exiting SECTORAL and THEMATIC schemes, which are part of our satellite folio(~20% or so ). But no one seems to offer any advice on this because of fear of going wrong. Then why call yourself experts? I accept that human beings have limitations . If you feel your call has gone wrong, correct yourself and we will change our allocation accordingly.
In short, go beyond personal fin advisory, ALSO.

Good to know that you are interested in investing in Mutual Funds. Initially you can start investing in Balanced Hybrid Fund (Growth- Direct) of HDFC, SBI, Nippon etc. Slowly you learn more about mutual funds. After suitable knowledge you can diversify as per your risk taking capacity.

All M.O.funds are Focused funds. Performance in long run is difficult to maintain. Why recommend M.O. funds which are not really diversified. Such funds either click beautifully or fail very badly.
