I absolutely agree with you. Soil is not suitable for orchids instead of a substrate; I use bark and moss. I once tied an orchid to a piece of bark, but it required very frequent spraying, and since I have many orchids, the roots dried out quickly and didn’t grow well. That’s why it's more convenient for me to grow orchids in pots with a substrate made of bark and moss.
In my videos, I often show how I prepare orchid substrate myself. I mainly mix bark, fine clay pellets (LECA), and a small amount of moss. Sometimes, I also add a few pieces of charcoal. This combination works well to provide aeration, retain just enough moisture, and support healthy root growth.
