I thought the first episode was so insightful, I couldn't really fault it, so I just spent the whole time comparing it to my first day, hope you enjoy! I will revisit this series, so what was your favourite Scrubs moment?
definitely that episode where multiple patients died due to the transplant from the dead patient with rabies. :( keep doing these type of videos, much love from the Philippines! :D
The deathbed episode. Old man dying with no family. JD & Turk keeps him company. Strange how that episode will make you cry and laugh at the same moment. But scrubs have a lot of good moments. The best 20min series out there.
While you're right about the "throw them in the patients mouth" dosage, the point was that JD was afraid to just look up the dosage and assign it without having to check with Cox, thus his (always amusing) rant about "it's just aspirin!". Scrubs has a lot of great moments, and a lot of sad moments. They really knew how to make you like a character before they killed them off in cold blood.
By far, the most important tip I learned as a junior doctor, was to make alliances with NURSES! Nurses can either make or break your day. They'll either cover up some of your mistakes or embarrass you in front of everybody during ward rounds. And if they really hate you, they'll page you to come back from home to clean up your mess. Those were the days...
Yes, my aunt is a nurse (and has been for almost over 40 years) and she always says that Scrubs is the only medical drama she can watch, because in the rest it kind of always bothered her how much incidental the nurses were shown, while in Scrubs they show that they are also an invaluable part of the team.
I work in patient transport at my hospital. The one most important thing I’ve so far is: keep the nurses happy. They are more willing to help if they know that you respect them and are there to help them. I love all our nurses and clinical techs. Not sure where we’d be without them.
Totally agree with your assessment of Scrubs. My kids always asked me which show was the most accurate and I always said Scrubs. It does a great job of showing what it's like to be a resident (junior doctor) and how doctor's really act and what they talk about behind the scenes. And the relationships between the doctors and nurses was also the most accurate - NEVER piss off a nurse, if you treat them well they'll go out of their way to help you but if you piss them off God have mercy on your soul. And.i always loved doctor Cox - I had a lot of attending physicians like Dr Cox. In the beginning they intimidate the hell out of you and then you get to know them and you start to learn from them and respect them. But you never respect the tools 😉
One more thing - there's a great deal of competition in US training programs. If you want to be a specialist you have to impress the doctors that run the program that you are interested in so that they will accept you to their residency training program. And it can be really cut throat among the surgical specialties, especially orthopedics. General pediatrics isn't that competitive except that you want to impress your attendings and if you are interested in being chief resident you really have to shine. Also some physicians go on to do fellowships once they graduate residency and they can be quite competitive to get into depending on the specialty.
I've often felt that MDs who treat nursing staff poorly are just trying to develop a reputation to avoid getting paged, at the patient's expense of course.
From an old and decrepit doctor: Excellent analysis. The paracentesis scene also shows the difference between surgeons and medics in that, while JD is is hesitating, Turk just grabs the chance to do an interventional procedure. Surgeons need to be proactive (? aggressive) even from their training period. I have seen most of the medical shows. Scrubs is the show which keeps the things mostly funny without getting too complicated on medical side. It does not get repetitive, unlike some other show I can mention. You gained a sub and keep up the good work ( both as a doc and youtuber).
I also like how in Scrubs there were lots of older patients with common ilnesses, unlike Grey's anatomy where most of their patients are under 40 and have very rare and obscure syndroms.
Veterinarian here. During clinical year as a vet student I will never forget this quote from Dr. Cox. I had just come off of one of the harder rotations and had a lot of patients get euthanized or die under our care. "Everything we do is just a stall." His point was sometimes losing patients is not in our hands and while it is a bit dark I also find it somewhat comforting.
Best of luck to her in the field! I don't have a problem with euthanasia in general. Sometimes it is absolutely the best thing we can do for a suffering pet. But I feel for the family's loss. Have often said if I stop caring I should stop working in the field.
Doctor Cox wasn't being serious when he said just throw pills at the patient, he was just annoyed that J.D paged him for something so trivial as how much tylenol to give a patient. If Doctor Cox thought for a second J.D would follow that crappy advice he would have fired him or recommend he be let go. Great job on the video btw hope you do more scrubs :)
asum power there is an episode in season 9 where a young female intern ask the same question involving ibuprofen. Maybe that’s the one you’re thinking of. Dr. Cox gave her the same answer.
Jose Concha no there are 9 seasons but, the last one focuses more on the new interns and some of the main characters are no longer on the show. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
Whether you're into medicine or not, that's what Scrubs' pilot does to you (when you pay attention to it, that is): it gets you hooked right away. It has an authentic feel to it and characters are fleshed out from the get go. This show was brilliant and I miss it every day. ps: thanks for this Dr Hope. It was awesome.
My uncle is a doctor and he’s told me that he can’t watch scrubs due to how accurate it is and how much it relates to his first years of being a doctor
As a fellow M.D (clinical Psychiatry) Scrubs is extremely accurate in terms of the emotions you experience through your career. The most accurate moment for me was when Dr Cox had his patients die and how he handled it.
He had two companions that were 'real' doctors.. I think they just rolled their eyes. I believe Martha Jones said "at least I'm a real Doctor".. lol.. My girlfriend is a GP and I wrote 'The Doctor' on her christmas card, she said 'I get it' Ha! She's awesome!!
Yeah actually I had a similar idea not that long ago. And as for an episode he should do maybe he can do the Series 3 episode "Smith and Jones" (with the 10th Doctor and Martha Jones) because it's one of the only New Who episodes that takes place in a hospital. And I also thought he should talk about the fact that real scientists have tried or already tried to make real "Sonic Screwdrivers" for the medical field. But yeah I would LOVE to see him do this!
Is that the clip where all their hands go green as they touch the nasty tissue? I’m so obsessed with Scrubs I’m pretty sure I can guess individual clips at this point 😂😂
Oh man, I remember that clip. You just wanted to yell at everyone to wash their hands before it reached the old lady, and then the green spread through her v.v
A couple of other things I noticed that they really got right over the course of the series were a). most of the patients are elderly, and b). most of the work is a lot of little things, with occasional big emergencies.
My sister, who is a doctor, said that of the medical shows she's seen, scrubs was the most accurate in terms of how hospital life is and the way patients are
Scrubs is by far the most poignant and accurate description of being a junior provider. My first day of anesthesia rotations I was terrified knowing I would be expected to induce, intubate and maintain a patient throughout surgery all while being quizzed by the attending CRNA or anesthesiologist. It gets better.

12 years in the hospital, 10 years is a nurse's aid, now 2 years is a nurse I always thought that this was one of the more accurate representations of what it's like working in a hospital. It's almost comical but an insanely dark way sometimes.
I'd be really intrigued to see your take on the emotional breakdowns in the series. Probably the main one being when Dr. Cox loses his cool after he keeps not being able to save patience
Creator Bill Lawrence said that much of the first episode (and early episodes, but particularly the first) was because a bunch of his friends had just become doctors and he was using many of their stories to form the content.
What I love most about your reviews is that you literally explain everything related to Medicine. What I would deeply request you is for review of every episode of House MD, The Good Doctor and Scrub(just for the sake of humor) because these Three have lot of content related to Medicine which I want you to explain for every Episode- I know it's to much to ask -but compared to any other medical drama show these two are much academic.
fun fact, they actually had a number of doctors on hand for accuracy. some charcters are even named after them. jd and molly clock are two examples and im pretty sure there's a third but i cant recall at the moment.
Real JD (John Dorus) is the doctor that inspired the author to create John Dorian.

@@lorenzoamato953 And he was also a consultant… as Bill Lawrence (the creator, and very close friend of the real JD) said in the third episode of Fake Doctors, Real Friends (new podcast by Braff and Faison, *very* recommended) , the real JD even liked working on the show more than his real job (as a doctor). He now does what Bob Kelso did in the show :D
I would love to see a whole Scrubs Series of videos haha, I love scrubs and it would be interesting to hear what you have to say about some of the episodes.
This made me want to rewatch Scrubs. Have all seasons on DVD, but I'll never rewatch Season 9 - as far as I'm concerned, it never happened, as the 8th season had the perfect end of the series and the 9th just ruined it.
Just randomly had this show up in my recommended feed. This was absolutely amazing to see. Thank you for posting this video. Honestly I really enjoyed that you relayed the reality of your own first day, and how interesting it is to see that JD on Scrubs was seemingly portrayed so well. Now onward to watch your other videos, because this was awesome.
JD is actually based on a real doctor that was friends with the writer of the show ^ ^ the scene with the abdominal fluid was actually based on a real life situation :D
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! Scrubs was and still is to this day my absolutely favourite show and made me want to be a doctor all through my childhood. I eventually decided to study biology/genetics (because I realised that almost throwing up at the sight of blood isn’t the best issue to have for a future doctor) but I still love the show and couldn’t wait for you to tell us how accurate it is. Please please please do more scrubs episodes. Hell, do the entire show I‘d watch all of it!
I think this remains my favourite medical show to this day. Everything feels so relatable even outside of the medical things, but then I heard it was even more relatable if you were in the profession. Highly enjoyed the review - it's good seeing it from a medical pov. I'll have to watch the rest of them :)
I can empathize so much with some of the experiences you talk about, as well the feelings the show displays about that first day on the job and just feeling nervous and vulnerable as hell. And it doesn't matter what else you've done in your life or what experiences you've had, either, you still feel that way. Especially with doing procedures for the first tie. (Or first hundred times or so, as the case may be.) One of the guys in my class of students was a former Army sergeant who'd been in the military for something like 12-15 years, been to war in all kinds of shitty situations, he and the guys from his squad would collect their own blood so they could do autotransfusions if need be, but put him in a position where he'd have to draw blood from someone else and those nervous hand jitters would start as adrenaline kicked in and the stress of messing up starts getting to you. Someone else I went to school with used to do maintenance on the Navy's mines, floating underwater opening them up, knowing a single wrong move and shed be dead. And yet when it came time to do the internship, she literally said at one point "War was easy. THIS SHIT is hard."
First video ive seen of yours, and it was fantastic, i love scrubs and hearing your professional opinion of the medical side of the show and it reaffirmed my love of it. As others have stated id love to hear your breakdowns of other scrubs episodes. +1 subscriber :)
Speaking for 'older' patients - read 'mid 30's' - we do sometimes get that jarring feeling that something is wrong with time when the doctor flipping through our charts is clearly 10 years younger than we are. Or possibly actually a medical student. A first year. Maybe a work experience kid. *HOW ARE THEY SO YOUNG..... OH GOD WHEN DID I GET OLD?*
The good news is that medical students can't write orders and the nurses will not waste their time paging them about you. So if they're students you can rest assured that an actual, qualified MD is looking over their shoulder and approving all their work.
I imagine the legal talk is very much part of US culture and likely wouldn't happen the same way or impact doctors in universal healthcare countries the same way.
That's why the janitor hates him! In the episode called "My Musical", the janitor sings "It all started with a penny in the door. I felt a hatred I've never felt before! So now I make him pay, each and every day, until that little mousse-haired nuisance is no more!"
I have only watched a few episodes of Scrubs... However after this wonderful insight in to how much that the writers have put in to the show... I think I am going to have to have a go at watching the entire thing now. Thanks Dr. Hope !!!
This video has made me start rewatching Scrubs and I still love it. I honestly think that a full review of the series, few episodes at a time maybe, would be beyond awesome.
Your explanation about the bit where you had to go back to being a normal person after confirming a patient passed away made me understand a bit better why doctors are generally quite well paid. Like you said, it's highly charged and I imagine highly stressful. Thank you for making these videos, they're really interesting. Personally, I'd love to see more House "reviews"!
Just FYI, nurses are often the ones who do this. At least in Canada, RNs can pronounce death and they will be the ones to do so in most cases (if the patient has a do-not-resuscitate order) and inform the family, etc.. Nurses will also be the ones who will be with patients who are waiting to die over the course of days or weeks, and who will finally confirm death and say their condolences to family members they've been sharing this experience with.
Scrubs IS my favorite show of all time, and i've heard from a lot of people that it's the most accurate medical show of all time. I've never seen anyone really dig into it and explain how. I hope you make more of these. its always great to revisit Scrubs. and my favorite scrubs moment was the finale, the last 10 minutes. After watching the entire show, seeing all of the characters again as he walks that hall, gets me everytime. Not to mention the final montage. Every single time .....even though i've seen it hundreds of times over the last 8 years (may be an exaggeration, but not as much as you may think)
You really should continue to watch the show !!! During college I never understood how everybody was so respectful, almost scared of the radiographer... but now working in the MRI I can definitely see myself jumping up and down screaming MY MACHINE at the top of my lungs 😂
"Scrubs" and "The Office" are my two favorite shows of all time, mainly, I think, because they hold a candle to how real the shows are to actual real life. I've also heard that "Scrubs" is the most accurate medical show on television, ever. That's pretty crazy, considering Bill Lawerence made "Spin City" as well, but it is what it is and "Scrubs" surpassed "The Office" as my favorite show of all time a long time ago. I go to sleep watching "Scrubs", almost every night.
Lara Marie Narvios I have watched it a couple of times (because I’ve watched it all way too many times) and have decided it would have worked if they made Denise the main character because JD is funny because he kind of acts like a quirky girl so having the main character be a quirky girl acting girly wasn’t funny. Denise was a girl acting like a dude which had its moments of being funny. If they had explored that it might have worked. That being said...it still wouldn’t be amazing but MUCH better than the intern they chose to be the one whose voice you hear.
it's so hilarious, but two my faourite moments are speeches about how lomly you can be in a world full of people, and about Eliot been a doctor, if she doesn't need a job. And absolutly like, how they maid fun of House)))))
Love Scrubs and I've been loving your videos! I thought you could maybe do a video on the top 5 hardest medical skills to master? e.g intubation, cannulation etc... Just an idea. You're one of my new favourite channels!!
it is quite accurate because the writer had a friend who was a doctor and he told them how it is. They took the experiences of the real JD and just coated it in a bit of absurdity and humor.
And once again ANOTHER AWESOME VIDEO !!! Well done 👍 it’s so awesome to keep seeing your channel growing, and l can never wait for the next video! These make me want to become a doctor! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK here and in the hospital!!!
I have to say, I very much prefer your videos over Doctor Mike's. You show so much compassion for the characters, and the way you reacted to Dr. Cox's emotional outburst in your other Scrubs video literally made me tear up. It's obvious you are a wonderful person and amazing doctor, and I'm definitely looking forward to watching your other videos !
Though I only have an average interest for medicine, Scrubs are one of my favourite shows and I really liked this video! Your passion and knowledge of medicine, mixed with your personal stories and interesting anecdotes made this beyond great. I'd love to see you do The Night Shift, I like the show for entertainment but I don't really know how accurate it is. Would love to hear your opinion on it!
It's such a relief that you like it! My dad's a doc and said it was the most accurate. I love the series and have watched all the way through multiple times 😊
Love your videos. I work in Canada as a Medical Services Aid, I handle supplies, some portering, running labs and supplies during codes, clerical work, non medical work on the unit. I find it strange to see doctors doing procedures like IV's, catheters, EKG's, blood work, etc they are done by nurses or technicians here. Is it different in the UK? Also you are so right about how quickly you have to move on from tragedy and what it does to you. Scrubs did a great episode about it. Dr Cox shows another doc telling a family that their love one has died. He makes the point that no one else in that room will be going back to work that day, but the doctor will get back to his shift. I remember working in Labour and Delivery and another MSA came in to have her baby, we had known each other for years and her baby was born with cranial stenosis and nearly died, they rushed her to the NICU where she was ventilated. I had to go set up the birthing room next to hers. I could hear her sobbing. Happy news she just turned 5 two days ago.
13:30 - I agree, it is something that I never realised/truly articulate, how quickly you are forced to move on. You stop for a brief moment and then you are snapped back into it again.
Love these reaction vids. Great point you made about it being more character driven, allowing the medical stuff to be more routine and accurate. Was hoping you'd mention the backwards x-ray that appears on the title/intro of each ep.
My favorite aspect of the video was, how things related to your experience. I've seen Scrubs, I know what happens, but I watched this because I find you and your story compelling, great job, sir!
It was great. I always loved Scrubs, i'm glad to hear so many people loved it too. And now i like it even more, after finding out it was so accurate. Thank you.
I know you're super busy (being a doctor and all), but I would love it if you did other episodes too! Especially the first several episode of season one. My Old Lady would be super cool!
Yay! A doctor mentioned not one but two of the lab personnel! Although we know the rest of the hospital knows we exist and are important, it sometimes feels like we don't get mentioned so thank you.
I've just started watching Scrubs because of your videos. It's both hilarious and harrowing. The honesty about life, death and, I'm sure, being a medic, is raw. Thank you. Ps, I love your commentary on these 🤗🙏
Really great video and great explanation. Will definitely check out some more of your videos :3 So fun fact about Scrubs: they actually worked really closely with a medical doctor called Dr. Jonathan Doris, who is a friend of Bill Lawrence the creator of Scrubs. This doctor helped Bill Lawrence, the writers and the actors with everything medical but also gave insights into the psychological aspects of being a doctor. The cast just called him "the real JD". He is the reason why Zach Braffs character actually has the initials JD in the first place. And to round it all of, he appears in Scrubs as a character in the very last episode (disregarding season 9) ^^ You can learn so much background information about this in the audio commentaries to the scrubs episodes. For any scrubs hardcore fans out there: I highly recommend them :)
I think they had like 3 (not quite sure) doctors help directly with the writing and they spoke to loads beforehand and asked them about their most embarrassing situation or biggest mistake or whatever and included some of it in the show
The point about Dr Cox's "throw the pills at the patient"-speech isn't that that's how you would actually do it. He's obviously being sarcastic for effect. What he's actually saying is "did you really page me to find out how much acetaminophen (tylenol) to give to a patient? you should be able to figure this one out on your own, especially since the consequences of screwing it up are likely to be negligible, unless you are stupid enough to actually just try to feed the patient a literal handful of pills"
I hope I speak for more than just myself when I say this, but I love hearing stories about your professional experiences. As a side note (that I'm certain you must've heard before), your name must be very reassuring to your patients lol
If I recall correctly, the reason Scrubs was so accurate was because the show's creator had a friend who is a doctor who was a consultant and helped ensure everything was legit, and a lot of the incidents (the fluid shooting out of a patient's abdomen, for example) actually happened to him. Great video, definitely subscribing!
This was great! Scrubs is one of my all-time favorite sitcoms. Interesting to get an actual doctor's take on it, learn a bit of actual medical know-how, and just get some insight into your personal experiences in the medical field. Like you said, doctors are people like everybody else.
....excellent and a little bit of instruction. Ascites - now better informed and now I also know that the removal of any fluid is a paracentesis. I also hope I don't hear it being said when I am lying on the trolley!. Keep it going just as it is.
They said the same thing to me when I started psychology. The professor said look around no doubt your future spouse is also in the lecture theater. He then said that was how he regrettably met his first wife.
First vid of yours I've seen. Very good! As a mostly-retail worker who's been through 7 armed robberies can tell you, I *understand* there are things in occupations that *only* someone IN that can critique or laugh at. But our empathy has been upped.
That was awesome. You've got a new sub! Watching scrubs when I was little really got me fired up to the idea of being a doctor. I sat my GAMSAT a few years back, got an acceptance at Peninsular but then had to turn it down as there was a surprise baby on the way. Will hopefully try again once the sprogs in school!
Nice man! GAMSAT is such a slog, probably one of the hardest exams I've ever done. Hope your little one is good, thanks for the sub. Stay in touch if you want any pointers when you come to applying again.
CristinaC_92 I can only agree. Even though Brooklyn 99 ist my current favorite, Scrubs will always have a place in my (sacred) heart. Up to today i watched this show 11 times.
Fleonwyn only? I keep on watching this show over and over since 2008-2009 hahahahahah but I do agree with you. I always compare other shows like How I met your mother or The Big Bang Theory and still I hadn't find a show to watch over and over and to enjoy as I did with Scrubs.
CristinaC_92 Yeah, but Brooklyn 99 is really close. But only because I find that the german synchronization (I'm german btw) is funnier than the OV. And Brooklyn 99 is the first show ever I experienced that.
Great video man. The first episode remind me of my first day of my internship. I think “Scrubs” (even with the all the day-dreaming) is the most realistic medical show. Most of the cases are pretty realistic and we see how some of the cases are solved out of dumb luck, some required a little bit of investigation and some are left unsolved, in some episodes physicians made mistakes even on simple diseases. That’s the difference between “Scrubs” and other shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” or “House M.D.”
I really really enjoyed this. Not just because it was fun but because scrubs helped kind of bridge the experience gab helping to relate to his actual experience. I don't think he will but I hope he will do another episode of scrubs some time. I would like to explore and hear about some more aspects beyond the first day. Thank you : )
Current med student getting closer everyday to F1 and this was great to watch! Really cool little mini-series idea. Definitely recommend feeding back on Gray's Anatomy... it's much more dramatic than the textbook we're too familiar with 😂
I love your review. I had heard the same thing from my sister-in-law. A lot of what I saw in Scrubs was stuff I saw with my first years in teaching when I didn't know what the ----- I was doing.
I love seeing doctors (including some of my close friends) tell me how accurate scrubs is. It’s my favorite show of all time and it’s validating to here that it’s a good insight into what it’s like to be a provider. It’s pretty accurate because the shows creator had his doctor friend, named jd, sit in and consult during the writing and filming.
Bill Lawrence had a buddy in college who became a doctor and eventually a medical advisor to this show. Scrubs was built on his friend's experiences, both medical and personal, and in later years from the writers being required to interview doctors every year for story ideas.
keep doing these type of videos,
much love from the Philippines! :D
The deathbed episode. Old man dying with no family. JD & Turk keeps him company. Strange how that episode will make you cry and laugh at the same moment. But scrubs have a lot of good moments. The best 20min series out there.
When the Todd resurrected a patient with a high five
tthe christmas episode and the episode where multiple patients died because of a bad organ transplant
"Her? She's dead. Write this down newbie: Push around a stiff. Nobody will ask you to do anything."
--- Dr. Cox
It still gets me

As a young medical rezident yes this soo true. Never be on the bad side of nurse. They can save tour from making a big mistake.
We love doctors like you 😊 And to be fair, most doctors nowadays have a very positive collaborative relationship with us.
Totally agree with your assessment of Scrubs. My kids always asked me which show was the most accurate and I always said Scrubs. It does a great job of showing what it's like to be a resident (junior doctor) and how doctor's really act and what they talk about behind the scenes. My oldest daughter is 2nd year DVM.. she's got no problem euthanizing or delivering 'beef' cattle. Much stronger than her old man..
Best of luck to her in the field! I don't have a problem with euthanasia in general. Sometimes it is absolutely the best thing we can do for a suffering pet. But I feel for the family's loss. Have often said if I stop caring I should stop working in the field.

I feel like my doctor took this approach to heart 😑
I thought it was ibuprofen?
asum power there is an episode in season 9 where a young female intern ask the same question involving ibuprofen. Maybe that’s the one you’re thinking of. Dr. Cox gave her the same answer.
@@whyshoulditellyou4198 season what? The show ends in season 8
Awwww I know how he feels! I either wince at making the same mistakes or get flashbacks to the same experience!
As a Software Engineer, I could not watch Silicon Valley. lol
As a fellow M.D (clinical Psychiatry) Scrubs is extremely accurate in terms of the emotions you experience through your career. The most accurate moment for me was when Dr Cox had his patients die and how he handled it.
Alright, now tell me how close to the truth Doctor Who gets.
MrThat0neperson 😂
Lol I watch that for humor sake
But yeah I would LOVE to see him do this!
...or now that I think about it another episode could be Series' 5 the "Eleventh Hour" because of the "coma's" that the patients have.
When I was at a hospital induction for volunteering, they played a clip from scrubs to make a point about infection risk & control xD
Zoe mine used Scrubs characters to show the different types of IDs.
Is that the clip where all their hands go green as they touch the nasty tissue? I’m so obsessed with Scrubs I’m pretty sure I can guess individual clips at this point 😂😂
Maddy Gowers I thought exactly the same! Must be the old lady episode 💔
Maddy Gowers ahah yeah it was that one 😆
"provider"?
You mean doctor right? Not provider?
Yeah

And Brendan Fraser one 😢😭
@@wikidclownchris And then they give you boobie horn.
Follow Bill Lawrence, the creator. He's still making excellent shows, like Ted Lasso.
12 years in the hospital, 10 years is a nurse's aid, now 2 years is a nurse I always thought that this was one of the more accurate representations of what it's like working in a hospital. It's almost comical but an insanely dark way sometimes.
Scrubs is the best show ever
i see....you're a man of culture as well
In the U.S. I believe that Scrubs was touted as the most accurate medical show.
I think the phrase was "most accurately depicts the nursing profession." Most medical shows treat the nurses as extras, like House or Grey's Anatomy.
Yes, that's what he said right at the beginning, did you watch the video?
ruclips.net/video/GhHwunzKfIA/видео.html
Certainly in my hospital.
Form of Therapy
That is because it is not about medicine.
IIRC, it was more accurate than its contemporaries at the time, despite being less serious in nature.
I'd be really intrigued to see your take on the emotional breakdowns in the series. Probably the main one being when Dr. Cox loses his cool after he keeps not being able to save patience
*Patients
Nightpacer1 I cry at that episode and the one where Ben dies
So, he lost patience because he lost patients?
gawainethefirst omg how dare you
Nightpacer1, it’s very simple. I laugh at those things that offend snowflakes, then I write about it on social media.
Creator Bill Lawrence said that much of the first episode (and early episodes, but particularly the first) was because a bunch of his friends had just become doctors and he was using many of their stories to form the content.
10/10 he did the shave foam bra thing

What I love most about your reviews is that you literally explain everything related to Medicine. What I would deeply request you is for review of every episode of House MD, The Good Doctor and Scrub(just for the sake of humor) because these Three have lot of content related to Medicine which I want you to explain for every Episode- I know it's to much to ask -but compared to any other medical drama show these two are much academic.
Azad Yadav bet you scrubs would be the most accurate in terms of what medical staff goes through on the day by day
Wtf video did you guys just watch..
Scrubs is one of my favourite shows ever. I'm glad you reacted to it! :)
fun fact, they actually had a number of doctors on hand for accuracy. some charcters are even named after them. jd and molly clock are two examples and im pretty sure there's a third but i cant recall at the moment.
@ Plays Ms. PacMan and skirts his duties?
I would love to see a whole Scrubs Series of videos haha, I love scrubs and it would be interesting to hear what you have to say about some of the episodes.
This video is fantastic. Never stop sharing personal insights. That was the best part
This made me want to rewatch Scrubs. Have all seasons on DVD, but I'll never rewatch Season 9 - as far as I'm concerned, it never happened, as the 8th season had the perfect end of the series and the 9th just ruined it.
What series 9? :P
There's no such a thing as a "Season 9"
That's a spin-off, it is mistakenly called season 9 because of the shared name, I suppose.
Season 9? This show had 8. Dont know why people think theres a season 9. Possibly the mandela effect.
Season 9 never happened =waves hand=
how can you not like Dave Franco he was the best.Season 9 rock no J.D and cool new cast.
Great video! I get the feeling you're a really lovely, empathetic Doctor. We're lucky to have dedicated professionals like you in the UK.
This just popped up as a recommended video because I love Scrubs so much. Thanks for this video. I really enjoyed it.

I SHOULD HOPE SO!!
I love scrubs! Never gets old
I love this channel, it's so pure
I came back from 12h shift... one thing that I wanted to do was go to sleep... and then I saw that You posted this video... I changed my priorities!
Get yourself in to bed!
Dr Hope's Sick Notes I'm in bed already, tomorrow another 12h so... sweet dreams!
Good on you, hope it goes well.
Dr Hope's Sick Notes so I have to tell You this... I delivered a baby today! A beautiful little girl!!! Oh I love my future job!
Fantastic!!! Good work. I miss those days on the obstetric ward :)
(Or first hundred times or so, as the case may be.)
One of the guys in my class of students was a former Army sergeant who'd been in the military for something like 12-15 years, been to war in all kinds of shitty situations, he and the guys from his squad would collect their own blood so they could do autotransfusions if need be, but put him in a position where he'd have to draw blood from someone else and those nervous hand jitters would start as adrenaline kicked in and the stress of messing up starts getting to you.
Someone else I went to school with used to do maintenance on the Navy's mines, floating underwater opening them up, knowing a single wrong move and shed be dead. And yet when it came time to do the internship, she literally said at one point "War was easy. THIS SHIT is hard."
Do you have a Janitor at your hospital that devotes his life to ruining yours?
In the UK we don't have any additional beds for 'getting it on'
charles bronson - Same here in Canada!!
Are we just gonna gloss over the fact the JD put a penny in the door?
Lol
That's why the janitor hates him! In the episode called "My Musical", the janitor sings "It all started with a penny in the door. I felt a hatred I've never felt before! So now I make him pay, each and every day, until that little mousse-haired nuisance is no more!"

Found the Janitor!
Brilliant stuff! Would love to see more on Scrubs, if you have the time :)
I go to sleep watching "Scrubs", almost every night.
thanks for the reviewwww. forever favorite medical series :))
It's so good.
i've watched the whole thing twice. except for season 9.haha not feeling the new characters.hahaha
Lara Marie Narvios There is no season 9.
NO SUCH THING. it was so cringyyy. o_O
The funniest part of Scrubs, I think, are the inner monologues the characters have throughout the entire episode, every episode!
it's so hilarious, but two my faourite moments are speeches about how lomly you can be in a world full of people, and about Eliot been a doctor, if she doesn't need a job.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK here and in the hospital!!!
you have the most relaxing voice in the WORLD if you were my doctor i would never be scared to get a shot again
I love this show and Netflix doesn’t have it anymore 😟😟😫
manhenk thanks ;) I have Amazon Prime yay
Hulu has it too
Comedy channel everyday 7am-8:30. Three episodes. Second season right now. I DVR.
Mate this was so much fun to watch and you come across very well. Cheers
Will definitely check out some more of your videos :3
So fun fact about Scrubs: they actually worked really closely with a medical doctor called Dr. And to round it all of, he appears in Scrubs as a character in the very last episode (disregarding season 9) ^^
You can learn so much background information about this in the audio commentaries to the scrubs episodes. For any scrubs hardcore fans out there: I highly recommend them :)
It's regular-strength TYLENOL.
HAHAHA!
I know Scrubs had a real doctor on set.
Christina Miller's father was also a surgeon and she brought a lot of insight to the show as well.
I think they had like 3 (not quite sure) doctors help directly with the writing and they spoke to loads beforehand and asked them about their most embarrassing situation or biggest mistake or whatever and included some of it in the show
The creator of the show also went to medical school before becoming a writer.
sheepie777 no he was roommates with the real JD. moreover the real JD and the real Turk were consultants.
Most medical shows do have actual doctors on the set. Or at least consulting. So they don't make idiots of themselves.
This is my new favorite channel. Keep doing "Scrubs" eps. I like your opinion on the show. This makes me feel more comfortable about Doctors as well.
I can't believe you don't have more subscribers! Thanks for making such awesome videos!
I love Scrubs and hearing that it's so accurate fills me with joy
....excellent and a little bit of instruction. Ascites - now better informed and now I also know that the removal of any fluid is a paracentesis. I also hope I don't hear it being said when I am lying on the trolley!. Keep it going just as it is.
Cheers George!
They said the same thing to me when I started psychology. The professor said look around no doubt your future spouse is also in the lecture theater. He then said that was how he regrettably met his first wife.
Awesome video and awesome guy! I absolutely love Scrubs! One of my favorites! Xx
Thanks! It really was a slog - tougher than any exam I had on a BSc. Will keep that in mind!

Could you do "the knick" it is a story about medicine around 1900 and it gave me some interesting insights.
Okay - I've not heard of it, I'll check it out, thanks
Also touted as incredibly historically medically accurate
This is the best comedian show I know. No tv show is better than Scrubs. ❤

I can only agree.
CristinaC_92
Yeah, but Brooklyn 99 is really close. But only because I find that the german synchronization (I'm german btw) is funnier than the OV. And Brooklyn 99 is the first show ever I experienced that.
Fleonwyn Oh! That's the one with a singer of "The Lonely Island" playing a detective! I must watch that show!
Thank you : )
another doctor show to watch would be saving hope
I’ve just started hepatobiliary week - your explanation of ascites was incredibly clear, thanks!
Current med student getting closer everyday to F1 and this was great to watch! Really cool little mini-series idea. Definitely recommend feeding back on Gray's Anatomy... it's much more dramatic than the textbook we're too familiar with 😂
Of all the medical things I've had done in 33 years, an NG tube is definitely one I will avoid having ever again if I can.
I love your review. I had heard the same thing from my sister-in-law. A lot of what I saw in Scrubs was stuff I saw with my first years in teaching when I didn't know what the ----- I was doing.
there was 2 doctors involved in the writing of the show since day 1 and that's why it is such a great show, for the most part its real
Just further proves how Scrubs is the best medical drama/comedy to ever be made.
