Come try the ride again but use the shuttle this time! Mountain Top Shuttles opened up last year. A lower section of Heartbreak opened up this year. It’s a different beast now, and you won’t be too pooped to enjoy it!
Aptly named 'Heartbreak' for a reason! I was just watching someone on another channel and Green's lick is a 5 mile climb too, a long climb for me as i just turned 66, would need more than 1 break, i live in NC but 3 hours from Asheville. I have my eye on a 2021 RM Instinct carbon 90 and also a Yeti SB-115 if i want a bit lighter and more compact. That rocky section reminds me looking up at Jim Branch in Asheville
That's a sweet bike you're eyeing. I hope to still be riding in my 60s one day. I've met a couple of local dudes in their 60s that would easily leave riders half their age in the dust. I wouldn't mind being as fit as those guys. 😅
@@dukeofmtb I am sure you are, you both do fine. My cardio is pretty good when i keep it up long term on the treadmill but natural athleticism is lacking which is really needed to be a better than average rider, the same in any sport so i know my limits, a little challenge is ok but that's it. Exposure like in your video can be dangerous, i ended down about 30 feet in a ravine once and left with some bruised ribs, my only 'real' accident in about 3 years of riding FS bikes
@@zxtenn oof. Glad that you made it out of that with just some bruised ribs. That's a big fall. My cardio is poop though. If we didn't ride bikes, it would be even worse. It's such a grind to train for, and we just don't have the time. So we focus more on skills and strength rather than fitness. I guess we all have our strengths and weaknesses, eh? 😊 Anyway, take care of yourself Sir Jim. Always a pleasure to see you in the comments.
Pisgah is legit. All jank and gnar. I love the feeling of the suspension working under me as I plow through roots and rocks. Some people might prefer flow trails though. That might be why. 😁
She definitely did. We were thinking of hucking it off the side though. We talked about it for a while, but since we didn't do it, I just cut the conversation out of the vid. 😅
I don't know. This footage is from two weeks before the lock downs even started. I think the trails are open though. I'd love to go ride there again, but we're back in Michigan right now. Have fun out there. Stay safe. 😁👍
Lol. I've told her that a millions times. Sometimes I'll randomly remind her while eating dinner even. Thing is, she doesn't mean to hit her front brake most of the time. Can't lean back in preparation to brake if you weren't expecting to brake in the first place. Trust me, I'm just as stressed out about it as anyone that's been watching our vids for a while. 😅
Good job both of you
Thanks!
Wow awesome place
You should make a trip to Pisgah some time. Their trails are great! 👍
The Duke of MTB some day I believe!

Hey, as much as you two are in NC, you should move down this way. You can’t beat WNC for so much do in the outdoors. Keep up the fun to watch videos.
Thanks! Yeah, we've been thinking about it. Either WNC or eastern Tennessee. We'll see where the wind takes us in the next few years. 😊
“I’m just too tired to do it properly.” That’s what she said..... lol
I think East Coasters dont give NC enough credit, Pisgah has some real knar and the tech is unreal.

The Duke of MTB I’ll be doing it on my hardtail. As I tell people, it keeps me younger and works my legs out more. Haha
@@50yearoldmtber37 Wow! Like a boss! 💪
Great ride. I love the dual video between you two.
Thanks! It's something different. Glad you like it.
New to this channel , already loving it! Yea boi !!!
Yeah boi!!! 😁🤙
Other Filipino MTB'ers?! Didn't know more existed! lol Fun video
Haha. Thanks!
Mountain biking is huge in the Filipino community in and around Toronto
cool 🤙
did the same thing in march. what a blast!
It's a fun descent. Super fast. 😁👍
Love the content man, it’s awesome to see Michigan riders making awesome vids
Thanks! Right back at you. Keep working on that channel. 👍
If I have 3 days in brevard, should I do heartbreak ridge?
Sure, go for it. It's a rough climb though. Bring extra water and snacks. Good luck. 👍
Okay, thanks
There are 16 switch backs on Star Gap. They really suck going up.
Yup. We got destroyed on the climb up.
I live in Asheville and haven't been there yet.... One of these days though. Just not going alone.
Good idea. Riding solo can be pretty risky. 👍
Cory: Ow! Let's do it again! Looks like a fun one. I'd have to start at 6am, camp at the top, then go for it!
Yeah, if we started earlier and brought more water, we could have rested longer at the top. The climb is brutal.
@@dukeofmtb Take more food than you need too and eat before you get hungry.
Climb up Curtis creek rd to blue ridge parkway and down to heart break
Yo! You guys are just HARDCORE.💪🏽 those NC climbs are official. Nice ride😎
Thanks! 👍😁👍
Man. Climbing 5 miles would be brutal on an XC or trail bike. I couldn’t imagine how hard it would be on a downhill bike
Hey man! I really enjoy your videos, your doing an amazing job. Do you have tips on how to start out a mountain biking channel?
Just start making vids. Eventually you'll settle on your own unique style. After that ---> Perseverance.
5 mile climb? Makes me nauseous just thinking about it. 😄
Yup. Just grinding forever. 😅
i was ripping in NC around this time last year... ohhh that was so fun.
Yeah, I saw your vids. NC trails are nice and chunky. Definitely fun times.
Great vid as usual👍
I'm guessing you wouldn't recommend Heartbreak Ridge for a first visit to the area..?😳
I recommend Kitsuma. It'll give you a taste of Pisgah without being too overwhelming right off the bat.
I am about to do this one for ORAMM. Cory took the proper line on the rock descent IMO.
She definitely did. We were thinking of hucking it off the side though. We talked about it for a while, but since we didn't do it, I just cut the conversation out of the vid. 😅
Ahahhah love the sub titles:)
I'm glad you do. That's how I know it was worth the effort. 😊👍
Hey I'll be heading to Pisgah this Saturday are they open now? And we should link up and ride man.
I don't know. This footage is from two weeks before the lock downs even started. I think the trails are open though. I'd love to go ride there again, but we're back in Michigan right now. Have fun out there. Stay safe. 😁👍
where is the camera on wifey? i love that angle
The thing mounted on the forehead of her helmet at 1:00 is the camera. It's an Insta360 One X.
Some Balot would have revived you both!
🤣 And some San Miguel beer. 🤣
You guys might as well move to NC at this point.
We've considered it. 😂🤣
5 mile climb??? Polite pass.. lol.
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Get off your front tire and get your body height on your back wheel

@@dukeofmtb no worries I thought you might have heard that before . Women's mountain bike clinic can't go wrong
Or electric shock therapy
@@davidodell4687 lol. If a couple dozen crashes haven't convinced her to break the habit, nothing will. 🤦♂️🤷♂️
